You need Xbox Live Gold to play online full stop
So unless they have a single player campaign, yes you'll need Gold
To be honest, if you like first person shooter games, online is much more fun. I stopped playing on xbox due to that. PC is much better. But for kids, they love mine craft, terraria and few car games.

I had pre-ordered it from JB Hi Fi with Halo 5 and Halo MCC bundle, but when it was delivered to me, it had Division as well. :)
