Free Monsters Inc. Movie (iTunes/Google Play through DMA - May Require VPN)

230

Here's one for the kids (that's my excuse at least)
Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA) is running a promotion where you can get a free digital copy of Monsters inc. if you link your DMA account to an American iTunes account (has to be American) or a Google Play account.
If you link multiple accounts the movie will be available from all of them.
Edit: This only seems to work if you link your DMA account to a new service that you haven't used before.
Edit 2: If you're having trouble accessing the website, downloading the DMA iphone/iPad app through an american account seems to remove the need to use a VPN. You can link your account straight from the app as well!

  • I cant register on this site. It doesnt allow me to go past the Birth Date stage… I think I am too young for this or probably too old :)

It's region locked to the US so I had to use a VPN to access the site. If that doesn't work, you can download the DMA app onto an iPhone or iPad from the US iTunes App store and sign in through there.

  • Got it, British IP's work too

  • Do I need to install anything for DMA?

    • No. If you link your DMA account to your US iTunes account or to a Google Play account the videos will show as 'purchased' through there, so you can watch them as normal.

  • It keeps signing me out, US VPN or not.

    • Try signing in through the app instead

      • The app is only in the US iTunes Store…

        • Like the main post says, the movie will only show up in a US iTunes account, so you'd need one regardless. You can make US accounts outside of the US though!

@TripleJ2: After a lot of mucking around I finally got it, had to sign in with US iTunes account and download the app, then sign into the app, connect the accounts then it worked. The movie was automatically added to both my iTunes and Google accounts.
          Thanks for posting :)

        • @rdx: I'm glad you got it working. I remember it being a bit of a pain to set up the first time for me too, but they do regular promotions so it's worth it!

Worked great. Just used Hola to access the DMA site from American IP on my Android and then it linked to my AU Google Play without an issue. You just find the movie in your library.

    • Tried Hola (for the first time ever), and it didn't work for me. The Google Play Store said the app wasn't "compatible with [my] device's country", and the site wouldn't let me in. Uninstalled Hola.

      Meh… Giving up.

      • Tried installing Hola, setting Chrome to US and then just running Google Play in AU, correct?

Disney Movies Anywhere? I'm guessing they aren't counting torrent sites.

    • Wow are you serious?
      That is ILLEGAL.
      Would you download a car?
      Dont steal.

Too bad there is no other way to download a movie for free.

Too bad you have no idea what tracking and profiling you means to Disney (and countless other companies).

Also seemingly unaware of how the Disney corporation conducts itself. I could write books on the shonky accounting of movie studios alone. That's before I get into the propaganda they feed the masses. And that's without getting into the scams behind the MPAA. You want to be rated? You better be a paying member. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDzblNKjsO0 The Big Studios essentially acting as a censorship arm through their powers over independent art.

You should just ask your friend for this ancient movie if you feel you must see it. It should be a lot less work than "Disney Movies Anywhere" and no crooked corporations need see an extra cent. Better yet, don't watch it.

      • calm down dude.

  • Worked for me with an Australian Google Play account.

I downloaded the below Disney Movies apk:
    http://apk-dl.com/disney-movies-anywhere

Opened the Disney app and Google Play via Hola, and the movie now appears in my library after connecting the 2 services together.
