I recognised that Falcon from the Postie who ran into a car thread.

      • yes!, that was old, :)

    • They do have some good stuff, most is overpriced though. They are trying to go for the premium market though.

Just make sure you do it instantly, and that you only do it on the very clean parts (as in don't do it on the bottom half of car). Have heard many stores of fine scratches from dirt left behind after washing, or contaminants flying in after you washed it.

Although I'm a detail nazi, so perhaps others don't care if they scratch the car or not…

i find dust on my car just mere minutes after drying it :\

Yep, hence the swirl marks people get using a chamois or this squidgy thing.

        • @OnlinePred: What's the trick to drying without getting swirl marks?

        • +2

@spa: use one of those fluffy microfibre drying towels and lightly(!) run it over your paint back and forth in straight lines (never in a circular motion), or use a dabbing motion.

@spa: A super simple one I use, is using a microfiber cloth to dry. The fabric is dense enough to pick up any small bits of dust and dirt that you may have missed or that have come on your car after washing. You just wet the cloth first by drying the windscreen for example, then just wring and use it like TDW said above.

Most of the swirl marks are from 2 things, having dirt in the bucket that you just pick up with the washing tool, or when drying using a chamois. You can try using the two bucket approach with a catch at the bottom to attempt to catch any dirt put back into the buckets. Hope that helps?
