[Price Error] Tamron 18-270mm Lens Travel Kit (Canon) $43 at Harvey Norman

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Price error with a missing digit? Lens + filter + Lowepro camera bag + cleaning kit for $43 (was $643).

The Tamron 18-270mm Travel Kit for Canon is the perfect companion for budding travel photographers. The Tamron 18-270mm lens is perfect for capturing action on the move, while the rest of the kit provides all the tools you need to keep your Canon DSLR and Tamron lens in top condition, no matter the conditions.

"Ends 8.9.16" but I suspect it would not last long. If it happens to be a price error, i.e. no one is able to get it at this price, it would be moved to the forum.

Oh no. How slow am i. I want it so bad. I dont even know what a camera is. But it is a pricing error so must be worth getting.

You lawfully paid for the Item its yours?

    • Yep, they took your money it's yours.

Would be genuinely interested to see this in court.

A seller can’t attempt to correct the error or claw back any money after they have processed your sale and accepted payment, as the transaction (and the contract) is deemed complete at this point.

Mate if I were you I'd get that manager fired for performing an illegal act.. but that's just me. Working retail killed my soul.

        • +1

@Putnum: i know even i work in retail industry too but kills your time for claiming goods or complaining on manager or what ever. One more thing i noticed i handled him very softway if i would have been very tough n rude definetly he gonna handover 2 kits. Well at the end i need only one so.

        • @rakhi: Fair enough buddy, well as long as you got the outcome you wanted.

Confirmed price error at 3 stores.

I tried my luck going to a few local HN stores and wasted half a day.

They got onto this a lot faster than the mechanical Logitech keyboards earlier this year.

Those who got in store are lucky, no online orders will be fulfilled.

      The messenger has been shot…

      • Yep. The community shot the messenger and themselves in the foot as they were at it.

The mods should have got onto this error and moved it to the forums as soon as multiple people started reporting it in store, and a simple phone call would have confirmed it too.

For the mods to remove my neg vote hours after myself and others confirmed it as a price error, and also leave this obvious price error of a post on the front page and not move it to the forum as I write this - is a pretty big drop of the ball.

This post should should have been moved to the forum a day ago.

For the mods to remove my neg vote

Mods didn't remove it, community revoked it by neg-voting your comment.

a simple phone call would have confirmed it too.

          wasted half a day.

          Interesting

          @Spackbace:

You want to make fun of me for wasting half a day when a phone call would have confirmed it?

Guess you weren't around last time HN did this with the Logitech keyboards. Because then you would have known it's worth checking in store even after this stuff. A lot of OZBers were able to get those HN keyboards, but this time HN didn't screw around and all stores were informed and quickly too. No one apart from one guy in this thread appeared to have been able to get it after being a real prick to the service staff.

Your bargain game is a lot weaker than your moves and your moves are weak + dropped the ball.

          ^ How? Which part?

        • @c0balt:

          So you got the deal…?

          Oh wait no you didn't.

          People in glass houses…

@c0balt: Don't think he was a prick. He gave them money, and they gave him goods in return. It's a done deal - very clear cut. They were pricks when they stole his property from him.

        • @simulacrum:

Exactly… if salesperson/manager made mistake finalising the sale, they are not allowed to steal/take back the goods that he already paid for.

        • @Spackbace:

          It's a reference to this.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvG7CHWyol0

I had the impression you were sort of up to date with meta stuff and would have got the reference..

BTW the hunt for bargains is just as fun as getting one for me, and I am in a fortunate enough position where I can waste half a day to have fun with a friend when neither of us even own Canon DSLRs :)

From ACCC website advice to merchants:
Businesses that sell goods guarantee that those goods: come with undisturbed possession, so no one has the right to take the goods away from or to prevent the consumer from using them.
If you sell a customer a product that fails to meet one or more of the consumer guarantees (such as the one above), they are entitled to a remedy – either a repair, replacement or refund and compensation for any consequential loss – depending on the circumstances.
Consequential loss can be the price that you would need to pay to obtain a similar item.
So you could appear at the tribunal stating that you already had title to the goods stating what compensation you sought from the retailer and VCAT would interpret the law.

Terms and conditions are all one way, guess which.
Harvey Norman's share price has been ripping upwards recently, reflecting strong margins. This means gouging shoppers.
I'll keep on driving past their stores without stopping, unless they change their business remarkably.

So how do we get a $50 peace offering voucher?

  • -1

i'm 99.99% sure that an advertised price is an invitation to treat (no one has to make good on a mistake) but charging your credit card is acceptance of the offer.

I don't like the ethics of forcing a retailer to honour a genuine mistake, but how are they getting around the law on this?

    • I'm 666% sure that it's not a real contract unless it's written in your own blood on parchment made of human skin…
