  • no deal. a similar capture device from DX is US$10. I don't see an additional $50 in value.

  • similar products can be bought for less than $10.

I bought my off ebay for $4 (free shipping).
it was a direct buy and not auction (so I can buy more if I wanted too)
using it right now at home to backup VHS tape to PC
    works well.

    • Can you please give me item # or link. Ta!

  • not at home right now.
Will provide link later once I'm home.

  • This product will NOT work with any application other than the Cyberlink ones (PowerDirector, PowerProducer) included, at least this occurred with the version of this device I was asked to set up. This one appears to come with ShowBiz 3.5.

It is not a WDM type device so does not appear in standard video capture applications, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Elements, Windows Movie Maker, etc.

  • Does anyone know of a device that I can convert my old Mini DV tapes as my new PC doesn't have firewire?

    • your minDV camera should also have analog outputs (for connecting to a TV). You could use analog output with a device such as this, or the one from dealextreme. Quality not as good as firewire though.
