    No optical drive !!

    • I've been looking for a good laptop without one.

    • HA! I laugh at your physical media.

      • +1

+1 … who uses physical media anymore? Old Skool

    • hahaha this for ppl who wants to get netbook but with bigger power ;) it would be almost as heavy as a netbook but bigger screen better specs

  • wonder why this is discounted?

    • could be just core2duo is old new processors coming soon into laptops..

      • there are bring out a new line of culv processors, either this month or next

  • -2

    I can't see this as a Good deal…

    • how is it not?

  • Good value, cheapest elsewhere is $1067 !! Pity i just bought the ThinkPad Edge 13 for $707

    • youre not missing much…this is a HP..i dont trust its quality, thinkpad is the same thing as this one. so you just missed 18bucks for better quality good trade imo

      • -1

I agree with you in terms of quality. i dont rate HP laptops to be of the same quality as Lenovo or Dell.
but i do like this laptop for its looks, specs and price.

    • Haha I bought a TP Edge13 too. Don't worry Thinkpad is still better.

  • +1

hp don't compare generally, but pavillions are good. but 1.3ghz hmmm…

    • dw this will beat atom in no time

      • -2

        An atom can't even beat a 2.8Ghz P4

      • +1

It also beats all Intel Dual cores and some Core 2 Duos.

    • i have a 1.2ghz su2100, its runs perfectly well for most things.

it ain't going to break any speed records, but the key here is power consumption and battery life rather than raw speed.

  • +1

I took up their last HP laptop offer and it took two weeks after the order date to arrive, so don't buy if you're in a hurry.

Other than that it looks like a good deal if you're after this size and long battery life.

  • 1.9kg seems awfully heavy for "light" 13" no-optical laptop, even with the 6-cell

  • I dont think cpu is a big problem! the dell xps 11 is also using the 1.3Ghz SU7300.

    • and the alienware 11z

  • +1

Good price but I am not sure about HP's quality.

  • i think closer to 600 would make this a good deal. Id expect to see a lot of these on the market in the next few weeks at this price.

  • FOR BUYERS WHO CARE ABOUT BEAUTY! …… I was so charmed by this model but unfortunately the bezel that covers its edges is silver plated piece of plastic with will loose its color and become black very quickly. Also there are small gaps between this bezel and the main body of the laptop, it is not perfectly fixed. It makes it look ugly especially that the aluminum body looks very attractive. I was so obsessed with it but this stupid finishing around the edges broke the deal for me and I no longer like it. I thought it is worth it to convey my personal experience with this machine.

  • Very soon we'll start seeing ULV Core i3 CPU's. But this is a good buy for those who can't stand netbooks and their crappy performance / small screens

  • nah this is a good buy :)

    Inbetween notebooks and 15inchers

  • "Upgrade your warranty and get an external DVD burner with your purchase"

So the dvd burner is not free? You have to pay $40 to get the dvd burner?

  • Excellent find. :D

    Just bought one.

I recently bought a DV6 with an i7 processor in it and while its good (too good for my needs except the battery life, weight and size of the power brick) I find it really heavy to carry around to University and it's also very scratch and fingerprint sensitive.

    I hope this one isn't considering it's steel/aluminum finish.

    a + for me.

Edit: Looks like it's almost gone :O

  • Nice unit, good price. I also like the $10 delivery price.

  • How does this compare to the samsung at online computer?

That one has internal dvd , 500gig drive and 9 hrs supposed battery life. 2.3kg but bigger screen.

    also costs $699.

    http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_i…

Arrgh, decisions decisions and so little time.

    • -1

      Personally, I'd take a 13" over a 15" any day.

    • -1

I advise you to get the Samsung if you do not mind a bigger screen. I had this ;laptop for a while and it lost its charm after 2 months only, it is beautiful if you keep it in a glass box only. the Sumsung is nice and light considering the screen size 15.6" 2.3K. I had a friend who has one and he is happy with it and it looks pretty much nice and feels well built too. Do not get tempted by the "almost gone" and the limited time available to buy it. If you are not in a hurry wait and I am pretty sure you will hear very good deals this month.

  • +1

    good advice thanks!

  • damn, if only you'd had posted sooner…

ahaha just bought this laptop a couple of hrs ago.

    • +1

I was rushing to place my order in when I saw that "HURRY ALMOST GONE".

GAH…I should of waited and done a bit more research on it (and to see what new offers are coming up 'particularly the CULV i series).

  • Anyone know what is the difference between HP Pavilion dm3-1105TU and HP Pavilion dm3-1011TU.

The one on COTD is HP Pavilion dm3-1011TU, but the link it refreshes for other stores' prices have dm3-1105TU.

Are the dm3-1105TU more expensive for a reason?

    • More expensive because the 1105TU comes supplied with an external USB2 optical drive & has bluetooth.

      http://penta.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6…

Price of 1011TU's around the $1100 mark.
      http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=dm3-1011TU&spos…

However, the COTD site does clearly show a picture of the laptop advertising Bluetooth, so I hope the ones they are selling have bluetooth.

    • Yep.

The only difference is the hard drive speed. The COTD is 5400RPM where as the $1799 DM3-1105TU from Harvey Norman is slightly faster at 7200RPM. Not worth the extra $1100 IMO.

    • was looking it up and comparing with cotd

      http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c0193310…

seems like the cotd one just has double the ram, slower hdd rpm

this better hav bluetooth. its says so in the pic but wat if it doesn't?

      • The one you've looked up is a 1005tu. The one COTD were linking to is a different model 1105TU.

        http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/au/en/ho/WF06b/321957-321957-…

        • woops, thanks for that.

          • @sumok3n: Damn HP, and their 100 variants of the same spec. device :)

      • They seem to have modified the picture to remove bluetooth now.

        • that really sucks i wanted integrated bluetooth for my mouse…

hmm can we complain or something?

          • @sumok3n: Just ask them nicely, and inform them that the picture they had up was incorrect, and that because of the photo you bought it thinking it had Bluetooth. They will most probably refund you if you so wish. Be polite as mistakes can happen.

          • @sumok3n: +1

One of the reasons I got this was of the bluetooth

            • @Hirokuro: hmm i still want the laptop but i feel a bit jipped because it doesn't have blutooth, what to do…

              • @sumok3n: contacted them and recieved a full refund (process takes 2 days).

The response time and handling were excellent. :D

Will definitely shop with them again. Excellent customer service.

                • @Hirokuro: good to know. I'm still thinking about what to do.

  • Seems like a really good deal, but I really am afraid of touching an HP after reading the statistical probabilities of them breaking down.

  • has anyone's laptop been shipped yet? its been over a week and mine hasn't

  • It's re-listed again :D

  • Anyone here who ordered the laptop received it yet? Mine order is nearly 2 weeks not and they still have not processed it. According to COTD's Customer Service Crew that they have lots of orders and that they will process mine soon. But I find this ridiculous being an online store and not being able to keep up with their processing/despatching of items.

  • mine hasn't been shipped either.

    • same here. same response from cs. i think they need to sell a certain number before hp will give them their price. it seems that they've yet to reach that number. product was temporarily relisted today. i think its dodgy that they charge our credit cards while they await the requisite number of orders till they can get the product at the proposed price. if i dont see anything by monday in terms of a status update ill be looking to cancel by whatever means possible. all my other orders have shipped within 2 days of order placement.

  • sent another complaint and got another response… no compensation but heres what it said.

    "
    Thank you for your reply.

I've just checked with our warehouse staff who have confirmed that the problem has since been resolved and your order is currently in the final stages of processing.

The moment you order is dispatched, you will receive email confirmation.

I apologise for the inconvenience and for the delay - feel free to contact me if you have any further queries."

so it better ship this week… or else i'm gonna be really annoyed.

    • i got the same generic brush off.

selling items that they dont yet have access to is more likely than a warehouse issue.

  • they should at least not take our money until they have the item, or until its shipped..

    • after initially being told the delay was due to an issue with 'their' warehouse, im now being told its a third party supplier issue.

each csr makes up their own story it seems.

the truth would be nice, however thats probably too much to ask.

  • my order finally says processing instead of payment received…

  • Just as ReDeMp mentioned, COTD told me the exact same thing that it was a third party supplier issue. They now can't confirm when it will be despatched. It has been 2 weeks since I paid for this. So I decided to cancel my order and COTD kindly refunded the money without any cancellation fee.
It's justt too bad because I was actually looking forward to using this laptop.

  • surprise surprise, i just got an email saying it was dispatched…

that took 2 weeks just to ship >.>

    • yes, mine has just got dispatched to. Pretty quick in my opinion (considering i originally canceled and bought it again on Sunday).

      • good to hear of some progress.

the last csr to answer my reply seems to have put my order on HOLD for whatever reason.

ffs what is wrong with these ppl?

      • hmm good to hear that urs got shipped too.

yea well i bought it the first day they listed it, and it took them 2 whole weeks just to process.. looks like they had to sell a certain amount before they could ship because the deal was up for more than one day and relisted etc…

Edit: I just requested a new invoice and they changed my invoice date to the dispatch date, so i still get those 2 weeks of warrenty that i wouldave missed due to their warehouse problems.

        • now whats the easiest and quickest way to get rid of all that hp crap on the machine……..?
