  • Are these distributed by Mittoni? If so they used to have 3 Years warranties from the distributors (manufacture warranty still says 1 year).

    • No they are not, we are the only people that have them besides one other seller.

  • 1 year for an enterprise grade drive?

    • reason they are OEM Drives.

  • -1

I remember when every single mechanical drive back in the 90's came with a 5 year warranty, the fact these now only have one should make it illegible for any OzBargain deal EVER! Ban the OP and raise the pitch forks!

  • Owning the 5TB of the same series, I wouldn't want a microsecond less than 3 year :/ it's been miserable.

    • Why is that? Was considering pulling the trigger for some backups.

      • Yeh 3 years minimum. Regardless of how reliable the brand seems to be. 1 year is simply asking for trouble. I've returned a number of toshiba under warranty for bad sectors in the past 5 years. Thank god for 3 years warranties. Although statutory warranty also state the item need to have adequate warranty that covers the expected life span of products. So in this case a 6TB HDD I would say it's definitely more than 1 year.

    • I'm interested in knowing too.. was gonna grab myself 2 of these for backups.

      • The only thing sorta putting me off is that I don't really need it per se, and the noise.

But it'd be good to have a non-archive drive for backups.

    • Backblaze rate these as about the same failure rate as the hgst drives so I'd expect a very reliable drive.

      • I own several HGST drives - I've been harping on about how great they are for years, my 4TB's from 2014 are still running perfectly in an almost 24/7 server environment.

I'm out of the know with hdds at the moment, I know HGST/Toshibas were put into the same category by some years when I last looked into it though you still hear of some (such as comments above) stating how unreliable they are. Yes I know people will say that about all drives… just about all drives, i rarely ever hear bad things about HGST. Perhaps due to much lower purchase volumes. If these are very similar to the HGST's I'd buy them in a heat beat.

Apart from research into these drives, the only thing holding me back is the size, 6TB is great and all but I'm waiting for a reliable 8TB (most of my drives are 4TB so 8TB is the next natural step).

  • Just pulled the trigger!

Am I able to pick up today??

    LaMMi

    • yes you can anytime before 5.30pm :)

  • lol OP got ozbargained last week from this deal www.ozbargain.com.au/node/263651 and came back for more.

    • Hi videoman,

that sale had finished last night so added another sale.

  • Official Toshiba retail gives these 5yr wty. OEM is different story. As mentioned on the other thread before these are commonly found also on dell poweredge servers.

Although too early to say, ive stressed tested 6 and no issues. Ill run a couple more passes later on. Pretty happy so far.

    • i can vouch for these. also stress tested 8 drives using victoria. No errors. Its a gamble im willing to take.

  • +1

How can I check chipping costs? Seems you have to sign up and checkout just to do so.

    • yeah you are right, we are working on changing that.
shipping in Australia would be between $22 to $26.50 and it will be shipped with DHL Express

      • Up to how many shipped for that price? Also I understand OEM drives. Warranty with supplier or can it be done through Toshiba?

        • it will be up to 4 to 5 drives also could be more depending on location.

  • cool. but.
when are non apple fusion drives coming out? whats the g o there, ei?

Express shipping to Sydney was $25.31
Worked out at $245.355 each delivered.

  • Will i be able to get a Tax Invoice when i buy the HDD from you guys?

  • A tax invoice is included. It can found/downloaded by logging into Your account and checking the Order history.

  • Took the plunge. Hopefully this will turn out well. I just had 2 x 3TB Seagate drives died on me last night.

    • Scary. On the same system? Which drives were they? I'm running SHR-1 so I'd lose everything with one failure. Need to figure out a backup backup solution.

      • Yep on the same system. They were normal Seagate 3tb drives. I know they've got a bad reputation but having 2 drives die at the same time was real messed up. I've got most of my data backed up on a 5tb NAS.
