    They are pretty good speakers but have an issue with long-term reliability. Mine was good for nearly 2 years, now they drop connections, or it might stay connected but no audio comes out.

    Also everytime they pair with my device, their volume is set to 100 percent so as soon as the music starts streaming, everyone's eardrums pop.

    I'd buy another to replace it, but it probably won't be the first gen model again.

      Have you tried updating the firmware to see if this makes a difference? I didn't even realise you could do this until I installed the UE Boom app on my iPad the other day and it said an update was available for my speaker.

      I had one die just before the first year. The issue for me was using it at loud volumes while charging. The excess heat I think caused it to screw something up, the unit was on and connected but no sounds including system sounds. It was an intermittent problem at first, but then became a permanent issue. I got it replaced and being mindful of the heat have been going strong ever since.

      Mines about the same age and the battery has packed it in. Plays for about an hour and critical battery.

    These are great speakers, mines been sitting in the shower for a good year or two and works perfectly fine.

    It had charging problems recently but a firmware upgrade fixed it.

    5/7 would buy it again.

    if im not mistaken, the 150ish is for brand new boom 2
    where as this is just the first gen boom (1) not 2, and its also refurb, still almost 100 bucks
