Nero Classic 2016 for AU $24.95 (Serial Via Email)

70

While most of us are happy to use IMGBURN and other free cd/dvd/bluray burning tools, sometimes you just need to use commercial paid software. This morning I noticed an email in a former co-workers inbox from Nero offering Nero Classic 2016 for $25, rather than the RRP of $139 (which nobody would pay for anyhows). Amazon has this for US $25 so this deal seems to be a tad cheaper.

I've used NERO for years and enjoy its feature set.

Apologies for the non generic URL, as the alternative link from the shop does not seem to allow the coupon code (1K9E-F5T9) to be entered for the discounted amount.

There are a tad over 3000 copies available at time of posting, the the number remaining will appear on the right hand side of the page when visited.

I'd spend more time tidying this post up, but I'm at work :) …. Boss is coming…..

The irony of paying for Nero

  • "sometimes you just need to use commercial paid software"

WHAT? Why would you do that??

      Hey HSM,

I know, its a shocking statement, but bear with me - Imgburn is excellent for CD/DVD burning, but when it comes to BD-R media is just does not seem to want to burn with verification turned on - that's where it basically burns at half speed as it checks for what it burns and then remaps to the spare sectors on a BD-R media. This avoids the issue of a bad burn and means hopefully less coasters.

I've tried 5-6 different ways of trying to enable this mode on Imgburn but it just doesn't seem to work…

      • Might want to try DVD-Fab. There was a post for a free copy on here a few weeks ago??

    • WHAT? Why would you do that??

Because it's better in some situations?

      • -1

        Like what situations??

        • Like situations where open source is relatively shit which is quite a lot such as word processing. Not that open source isn't the best in other areas such as compression.

        • @Diji1:

That's your personal opinion. Feel free to pay for your Nero and word processing programs or whatever.

        • @Diji1: I don't know that you've actually based this on anything other than your own anecdotal evidence.

It's actually been proven that OSS is consistently of higher quality than paid equivalents. Why? Because nobody is paid to build OSS. "But that doesn't make sense!" Just hear me out.

OSS is made out of passion. Nobody is paid, somebody is building that software because that's what they enjoy doing. It's their hobby. Yours might be car restoration, it might be painting, it might be sport. No matter what your passion is, you want to do the best you can at it. You're not limited to what your boss, coach, shareholders or whoever are demanding, you're only limited by the effort that you're prepared to put in.

        • @sir cockington iii: not to mention many other people are able to collaborate and improve upon the same work.

        • @sir cockington iii: In theory, yes, that's one driver for OSS. But software as software gets larger and more complex it inevitably requires significant resources to dedicate time and effort to. There are countless OSS projects that have been shelved due to the developer not being able to balance priorities and having to make a call to commit to their full time job.

I take your point but disagree that OSS is consistently better than paid equivalents.

    Cheers
Might use the money saved on this to pay for Winzip

      Can't tell if serious :p

    people still burn CD's?

    • People still use optical drives?

      (Fixed that for you)

  • Does this work with flash drives?

    • Yes.

I would have been all over this 15 years ago if they did not give free copies with every burner.

  • I stopped using imgburn when they started bundling it with opencandy adware. Nero Classic is Meh. Ashampoo isnt bad for the cash but win10 burning engine is enough for me.

    Whatever floats your bloat.

The first versions were good, but then it became an impressive monster with tentacles and a bulbous gut.

  • Pfft, I'd only be interested if there was a bundle that included Nero with ACDSee, Winzip, and Winamp. Might as well throw in Netscape Navigator for the hell of it.
