I'm still waiting for mine from the previous deal

    • Same here

    • Mine has arrived in Australia apparently, 3 weeks and counting . But at this price as long as i get it i don't care that its snail mail.

      • how do you check? I have a tracking number but where do I put them? which post are they using?

      • Yep mine finally arrived into Australia on 7/9 - not sure which City - but has not reached me in QLD yet.

    • +1

I got mine today from the previous deal! yewww~!

      • mine came today as well (from the previous deal)

        • I think the most exciting thing about this is just being able to watch movies on a plane tbh. Even if your phone doesn't have gyroscope to look around, in fact in that situation it's best just watching it 2D.

          So keeeeen

        • @bset: You mean 2D or 3D? Isn't this for 3D movie?

        • @virhlpool: Can do both apparently.

    • +3

Mine arrived today, after arriving in the country 3 days ago.

It's pretty damn good, would recommend if anyone is unsure, way better than cardboard in terms of comfort and optics. Cant go wrong for < 10$. Remote is a bit weird though, strange layout.

    • i received mine today (in sydney)
strong rubber or faux leather smell, cant stand it and will leave it out for few days hopefully it goes away.

still trying to figure out how to use the remote/controller to work with google cardboard or any other VR apps. any suggestions?

    • +1

I got mine from that deal yesterday, they are really rubbish and the remote doesn't work all that well. Very nauseating since I couldn't really adjust the focal length to suite my eyes or maybe it just the lenses. Either way its always blurry.

    • +1

      I got mine yesterday, FYI

  • +2

Just a warning . I bought one of those Bluetooth remotes and it died after 5 days . I was then sent a replacement and it was DOA.

I think I'll just stick with my free Myer eBay 3D glasses

  • I almost forgot I ordered this from the last deal! Where is it right now?

    • +1

First report of it being delivered was posted up today, so it's nearly there :)

Obviously, this is the free HK shipping so can be ~4 weeks

      • +1

That was quick! (confirmed delivered to new post) :-)

        • +1

People worry about HK sellers that don't know, and I saw the price drop so thought it was worth sharing again :) did a cross-check against AliExpress, still couldn't see anything cheaper

        • -8

          @Spackbace:

It's a dupe , less than 1 month of original post and change in exchange rate isn't considered a price drop

Maybe you should have waited for more people to confirm quality and functionality before posting it again rather than have people buy poor quality items

        • +1

          @easternculture: still 9c cheaper though…

        • @TheClipIt:

If it was an Amazon post , mods would have removed it as a dupe, even at 9 cents cheaper

        • +3

          @easternculture:

Price changed, currency rate didn't, guessing you didn't see the US$ difference, also different sale periods (old post clearly had a defined expiry on the sale they were running).

As to the 2nd line, I'll choose not to reply, your negativity (once again) isn't necessary.

        • -8

          @Spackbace:

          your negativity

oh ok , then let's just sit and allow people to buy possible low quality items with little to no confirmed reviews Just to keep you happy

      • +1

Well, I've been watching my one from the previous deal, and it actually shipped from the Netherlands. And arrived in Australia 2 days ago.

    • mine is almost here, i think anytime today or tomorrow

    • -1

I think mine one is at Postie, will collect on Saturday!

    • Never bought anything from China before? Their postal system + Aus Post = slow and inconsistent transit times.

    • I received mine this morning. Procrastinating to look for a 3D app on the net now.

      • I received mine yesterday. Try Fulldive, gives you a good mix of content.
I found the lenses to be quite blurry, I just couldn't adjust my retina to focus. Any tips?

  • this is great price, cant wait to get mine

  • Is this any good just for watching videos on your phone?

Never really saw the point in these otherwise, not into this whole VR craze.

    Hell of a price though.

    • +1

Is this any good just for watching videos on your phone?

Yeah - do people use these on trains / planes with earphones to watch movies etc, or would you just get shamed in to not using it lol?!

      • Haha. Quite likely. On trains anyway. On a plane I'm sure it'd be fine.

        • +3

It can't be good for your eyes watching your phone that close can it ?

        • @droodle: That's what I thought too.

        • @droodle:

That's what the lenses are for, so you don't have to converge your eyes or have any strain when focusing. The focal point isn't a few cm in front of you.

Depending on the lenses it can be less stressful to the eyes than reading a book.

Best to do some research into it before before jumping on board the low key fear mongering, especially with new technologies. It's also really interesting stuff.

At this price however, I can't imagine the lenses would be very decent.

  • +1

it was shipped via netherland post like most free ships from China

    • That post is painfully slow.

  • ordered, hope it comes!

  • +1

I just want to let people know that the remote doesn't work properly with iOS. It will do button presses, but that's only volume and home button.

    • What else would you expect, considering the range of apps to use with this thing are limited? :) I used a similar unit and they aren't well put together IMHO, they just don't sit and feel right; certainly nothing like a Gear VR paired with a Galaxy.

      • -3

        What else would you expect,

        Cheap landfill

    • Read my comment above. I think the rate of failure for these BT remotes are high.

  • +3

Just got mine yesterday from previous deal.
Only use it for 3D movie and pawn, i would say the 3D experience is better than 3D tv becoz 3D require big sreen close up and VR does exactly that. I wouldnt buy this for game, get a proper vr if want game like ps4 vr.

    • Same here…was surprised as it turned up pretty quickly given it was so cheap…and in regards to the bt remotes, ya's get what's ya pay for…if you want quality you need to fork out the readies…

    • I got mine today and am not sure what app to get for 3D videos. Do you mind to share the name/link of the app you downloaded for it, please? Ta

      • It depends what type of video your trying to play but "cardboard theater" seems pretty good, Mine arrived yesterday and had a short play, 180* is pretty cool.

        • Ta. Will give that a try.

        • @AussieDaddy:
I like 'VRTV' on Android the best currently. The in-VR controls are the best bit.

        • @howbazaar: Thanks. Will check that out as well.

  • +1

Mine arrived yesterday, unfortunately i can't get the image to focus properly and it's pretty blurry on my face. Works fine on my GIRLFRIEND (HIGH FIVE GUYS!!!!).

Can't figure out how to get the bluetooth remote to work in the games though. Hooked up my xiaomi controller and bluetooth remote but neither of them work in cardboard apps

    • -2

As i mentioned above, this particular remote control has issues

    • +1

let me know if you figure out how to get the focus right.

i'm playing around with mine now… definitely better than the actual cardboard versions.. but still can't get it quite right for hte focus

    • +2

Hey try scanning this code to fix the focus issues. This helped a lot for me:

      http://www.hypergridbusiness.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/…

It'll open up in cardboard viewer

Also make sure your phone is exactly centred and level too

      • thanks this helpt a lot

  • This is one of the worst VR headsets on the market.

    • Compared to…?

      • +4

Just about every headset that isn't so long that it could be a pair of binoculars is better.

The VR Box is uncomfortable on the face, front-heavy, and it has a really low FOV even if you use a large phone.

        • Thanks for your personal review. Looks like I will skip this cheap gadget.

  • +3

Got mine from previous deal yesterday. If you have large spec frames, chances are it wouldnt fit.

    • Thanks for the info. My spec is quite wide, so I shouldn't risk it then.

      • You could try removing or cutting the cushion thing that rests on your face for it to fit, but I found it easier just to wear contact lenses.

        • I have contact lenses too but I don't like wearing them :)

  • What does the remote do?

    • Navigate menus and select options, play/pause video etc

Basically saves you from having to get your phone out of the viewer to choose an option

      • Only volume and home button for iOS though?

      • Nice!

      • +1

got mine today, but can't use the remote to select. all the buttons just exit whatever app i'm in,
and can't use this headset like the google cardboard cause there's no button on it.

is there a way to get it to work?

        • +1

same here. keep pressing the damn exit button.
          halp!!!

  • +1

Guys, I received mine from the previous deal today, so can anyone please share with us the name(s) of what app to get for Android phones (mainly for 3D movies)? Thanks in advance.

  • If you have an OTG cable / adaptor you can run a K400 keyboard trackpad or even a Steam controller in lizard mode on your phone as a controller.
I assume most wireless or even corded keyboard / mouse would work via OTG, I think my OTG cable was about $1.

  • Have had one of these for a while. It's not amazing but for $8 that's not bad.
The main gripe I have is that it seems to have been made for people with tiny noses, the cut-out for your nose is very small and mine (which is not even a big nose) presses against it.
Also with my S6 Edge the clip often presses up against the I/O switch, which keeps my phone locked. It's tricky to position it so this doesn't happen, even with the little pads they include that you can stick on to prevent this.
Oh and my aux port doesn't really line up with the hole for earphones, it's quite a mission to plug them in.

    • Anyone with a 2015/16 flagship Samsung phone who is interested in VR needs to be using the new 2016 Gear VR (SM-R323). Do yourself a favour and beg, borrow or steal one. Or buy one. Sure, it's a chunk of change, but you'll know where your money went as soon as you start using it.

    • How exactly do I fit the my S6 edge in there?

EDIT: Never mind, figured it out!

  • Paid using Paypal - USD $6.00

    • Oh cool they dropped again :)

      • Beware of the paypal currency rates tho!

        • Yeah 16.23 AUD for two.

  • I bought mine from AliExpress on the same day (I think stock ran out or something) and it arrived a week ago.

  • This caught my interest both times. Once again the inability of the site to actually process an order has stopped my buying. Probably for the best.

  • @guys - just curious - How do I watch movies with my specs ON - I need to wear them 24\7 due to the burning sensation I get if I remove my glasses?

    • Raspberet said above that "If you have large spec frames, chances are it wouldnt fit."

      • Thanks @Lunatic

  • got one, cost me $8.12 though on Paypal..

  • +3

If you don't want the bluetooth remote it looks like you can get the headset for 5.16AU here

    http://www.dd4.com/goods/VR02-Virtual-Reality-Glasses-3D-VR-…

  • Can you use this to watch normal movies? I don't really care about 3D but I'd like to be able to just put my iPhone 6s+ in this unit and (with my BT headset) watch a movie on a plane in peace.

    • The google cardboard app let's you watch any movie on your phone in a virtual movie theatre, basically the movie is in 2d but the theatre is 3d, it's like the screen is floating in space. I haven't watched a whole movie with it as I only have a cardboard, but at the same time I could imagine it would be great as long as eyes train isn't an issue

  • wrong check, it is a good deal!

  • I received mine from the previous deal today. I cant figure out how to use it. Probably a waste of money and they smell like a Chinese factory :P

Bought 3, have 3 to give away ;) haha. Ill stick with Samsung Gear VR

  • I have one of these form previous deals, make sure you stick the tape on the housing for the phone. Even then, there is a risk of it falling inside the unit and scratching the phone when taking it out , or becoming near on impossible to take out

  • This thing doesn't have a lens right?

    • "[High-grade Optical Resin Lens] Comes with High-grade Optical Resin Lens with Special Treatment, will not feel visual fatigue and dizzy even after a long time use. It will protect your eyes when enjoying 3D movie and game."

  • Charging me $8.16 aud due to the wierd conversion.

  • Mine arrived, works well controller included BUT if your phone is any thicker than mine you might have focus issues with out modding the lens travel.
My phone is around 7mm thick.
