    • No focus issues for new and my phone is 2cm thick (Panasonic cm1)

  • i have 2 questions and i would really appricate if someone can answer.

    1) is that will suitable for Iphone 6 plus? is iphone 6plus will fit in to this?
    2) can i watch movies in this?

    • Just received mine. I've used the Oculus Dev Kit V2, Samsung Gear VR and a few Google Cardboard knockoffs. The unit blew all my expectations.

      1) Works perfect with iPhone 6 plus (what i'm using it with). The screen resolution and snug fit makes it perfect for this unit.

      2) Yes you can watch 360 degree movies as well as playing games. I recommend the app Homido Player (free) for movies.

  • They seem to have gimped/disabled their login system to prevent customers from checking orders.

  • is this VR thing really worth it?

  • ive only ever used cardboard and the expectation was beyond, not sure if the apps have matured over the period and besides the remote that came with it not compatbile with many apps, the VR unit itself is great. the wider FOV couldve helped but for less than 10 bux i couldnt argue

  • I got mine yesterday and pretty good quality for the price

  • I got mine a couple of weeks ago and after using it a couple of times I have formed an opinion on a few things:

-mine is blurry compared to my free optus cardboard. Looking at the comments it appears this is a manufacturing defect or some people just don't think it's blurry when it is, but probably a defect. There are a number of lens adjustments but even at their best it's worse that cardboard
-as someone mentioned the bridge sits on your nose which isn't that comfortable
-this has major snorkel effect, which appears to be because the phone sits further away from your eyes than it does with cardboard. This kinda sucks and is the biggest issue, not sure how someone can make something worse than carboard

Can anyone recommend a similar product on the cheap that doesn't have these issues?

    • Which apps did you try it with?
Before using it with Google cardboard you need to make sure you scan the correct QR code to calibrate it otherwise it'll give you a headache and won't focus.

Also what phone are you using it with?
It looked rubbish for me on an old LG optimus 3D, but after switching to an LG v10, quality is amazing and it rivals the galaxy gear VR.

      • I have been using the qr code, and have used it with a z5. Apart from the issues above there's also a slight issue of bright edges to the screen no matter how you adjust it, eg. Even in a dark screen as in the first scene of Mr Robot VR there is always an edge which is bright white which is off putting. Regarding the snorkel effect there is literally nothing in your peripheral vision, everything is in a square in the centre of your vision so it's not as immersive (as cardboard). The blurriness doesn't make it unusable, but it's worse when reading text than my cardboard. I also tried the cardboard app and cardboard design studio

I did a search on here and found a relatively cheap Ritek model but not much in the way of reviews.

    • I agree, it does still seem blurry even with the correct QR code (URL posted here several times)

And yeah compared to my GearVR, you can see a lot of blackness of the plastic inside of the unit around the edges of the image. Much, much more than the GearVR.

Still, the GearVR is 10 - 15 times the price, so for $8 this is still worth a play, but if you have a phone that supports the GearVR I reckon its heaps better.

      • Fair enough in the case of the Gear VR, but when the cardboard that costs virtually (sic) nothing is better there is a problem. By way of that comparison, it should be perfectly feasible that a similar cost set with a better design is available, maybe not to Gear VR standards but at least a more comfortable version of cardboard.

        • Agreed.. this plastic unit should be at least as good, and really better than a ~free Cardboard.
