  • I think the last promo with free Xbox was better IMO

    • +1

Only if you actually want an Xbox. I'd rather have $300. We've seen some crazy deals for $300 before if you should decide to get one some day.

And it was the old Xbox not the S, or the upcoming Scorpio.

      • market price of xbox was >$300. so other deal was better if you listed it up on gumtree.

    • But the surface models were not already on special on that deal, this deal some are already $300 off + extra Bose soundlink mini

      • +1

Oh. I thought this was normal pricing.
        Ok deal then.

  • +3

You know products are ridiculously over priced when a $300 discount doesn't raise one heart beat p/min….

    • +2

A $100 discount off an Apple product (which imo are even more overpriced: ipad Pro vs SP4) gets dozens of upvotes. Go figure.

thats because there's an unhealthy stigma if you don't have the latest i'Whateva then you're not part of the club. If you believe the stigma/marketing/peer pressure.

        • +2

No way stigmatising, marketing and peer pressure are working on you right!

        • @Diji1:

well i dont own any iWish device if that what you're saying

      • A MacBook Pro is cheaper than a Surface Book…

        • +1

Different devices. Can't compare laptop with 2 in 1 device.

        • Can that thing detach from the keyboard and run in tablet mode?

  • but grrr this doesn't stack with student discount :(

(although something makes me want to try the chat service to see if it can be stacked after all (like the XBox deal WAS valid with student discount if you rang/chatted with them)

PS - just checked jb hifi and they don't have the discount nor the speaker thingy

    • What's the student discount worth?

      • 10% I think.

  • +1

ALSO - if you have a spare $3900 or so on you, and you go for the i7 1TB version of the Surface Pro 4, Microsoft will also throw in a free Western Digital 3TB Hard Drive!

    • +1

      I'm going to broden them.

    • Don't spend $3900 on the surface book. Gross…

Get a laptop with good battery life like the Dell Xps 15 or Dell Precision workstation.

      • +1

A someone who spent $3750 on a surface book, I agree. It's a good idea poorly executed. No matter what people say, it's still plagued with bugs and the MS Store (Online) support has been absolutely shit. It took them 2 months, a lot of arguing, about 3 afternoons worth of chats and a further $4k deposit for them to agree to replace my defective SB on an "advanced exchange" that didn't leave me without a computer for 2+ weeks in the middle of uni. My second SB still has issues.

Sell it and just buy Latitudes from the dell outlet. $1000 laptop that's more reliable than 99% of laptops on the market.

        • @niner: I agree about the XPS, but Latitudes dont compare.

        • @Avatar:

          What do you mean?

        • +1

@niner: The Dell XPS 15 is a nice laptop. But to go from a Surface Book to a Latitude, well its like chalk and cheese.

        • +1

@niner: Latitudes have really solid basics, but that's all they have. The SurfaceBook is anything but basic.

        • @ProspectiveDarkness:

That's not true. They retail for $3000.

They have build quality and all the security features that most laptops don't have.

          @niner:

That's not true. They retail for $3000.

That's not really relevant…? I know how much they retail for.

They have build quality and all the security features that most laptops don't have.

Right, build quality I was considering under 'basics', and to the normal consumer, security features don't mean jack.

I'm comparing it to the 13" 3:2 touchscreen tablet with pen support that is the Surface Book.

The Latitudes are good laptops, but that's all they are. The SurfaceBook is more than a laptop.

  • Anyone had any luck getting this price matched anywhere in Melbourne? I'm hoping to pick one up today!

  • Tried to price match at JBHifi Mount Druitt today. The best they can do is $1,950 (for the SP4 $1,999 model) throwing in the Surface keyboard ($199 value) and doing a discount on BT speakers.

Walked away, then checked online again and the DAMN discount is gone!!!! Only Bose Sounddock remains.

Someone did a sneaky removal of the discount in Microsoft HQ.

      https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msaus/en_AU/pdp/Surface…

I just checked now and the discount is there as well as the speakers. Try again I suppose?

      • Just clicked your link, checked on mobile phone, checked on VPN to a different region computer, cleared cookies, checked different browser.

        All shows no discount.

Wonder if it's my cookies or is anyone else seeing/not seeing the discount?

        • I'm also not seeing thr discount. :/

        • @zerocul: Yep discount has been removed, you just cant snooze on deals these days :(

        • @TRENT86: shouldn't their promos last at least a day? was it in error?

        • +1

@gryhawk: Looks like it but discount is still applying in cart so if you want one I would get it now :)

        • @TRENT86: Yup, works in cart. Purchased!

  • +3

Discount still applies!!! Add it to the cart and it'll apply the discount! Just bought one for this price as of 4:55pm.

    • +1

Act you are right, lets see how long this lasts :)

  • bit the bullet….got Microsoft to re-activate a $100 voucher from a purchase last year that had expired!!!cant wait to get my hands on the new device….thanks DrgnStar
