Fantastic find. Thanks to you I have so many awesome apps on my phone!

Quite a few low rating reviews & complaints since August. Comments like it used to be good, can't find songs, etc.

So is it a music service or does it piggyback off other ones like Spotify? (The blurb mentions addimg stuff to your Spotify playlist)

So this is a poor man's Shazam?

    • +9

      Rich man's Shazam.

During the early years, i found soundhound (free version) to be faster than Shazam and have a better range of songs. It even had non english songs which was a plus and a reason I stuck with them… still dont see a point in getting the paid version of this though.

Given that Google can tell you a song that's playing, what can this app do as a stand out feature?

    • +4

As I recall you can also hum, single or whistle a song to it.

      • How accurate is it with humming, singing and whistling?

        • From my experience, not at all. With several of us trying to hum/sing/whistle various tunes at it, not one single thing was recognised.

    • I like that it scrolls the lyrics along in time with the song.
Also found it better at identifying more obscure songs.

      • Musixmatch app does this for free and pretty good at it as well in a floating app that sits in front of your other apps (like Facebook messenger)

Awesome had the free version, great app!!

Might be worth checking out if only because of the tangentially related fact that these guys are pivoting to another app just called "Hound" which is positioning itself as a Siri/Cortana/Alexa/etc. competitor…

Thanks, bought it anyway since I had some credit from the google's opinion app.

Who else went to buy it and then realised they already have it?

  • Does it support Android Wear? Last time I used SoundHound Free I don't think it did. I stopped using it because Google did the same thing and was naively integrated into the launcher.

Is there any reason to go back to SH?
