Are you referring to the ORICO 2599US3? If so, double check that it supports UASP. If it doesn't it will limit the drives speed to less than 200MB/s.

  • Thanks. Got one.

getting one too this ….. school holidays and my 9 year old 500gb SSD is full of steam ….. this will enable me to get ready ready for the next school holidays …….. steam games on SSD ….. life is good.

I would store movies on SSD but with steam games so cheap SSD is a great platform.

nine year old ssd? holy lord that'd be expensive when you bought it

I wonder if it can hit $200AUD to the TB by the end of the year? hmmm..

    • +2

no it wont, at best 225 imo, if the aust dollar gets stronger by 5cents perhaps.

    • Theyve been about the same for the last six months and people keep saying this.

great price! sub 250 for the first time.

    • Could have sworn this has happened before, got a record in my spreadsheets of it hitting $236.14 AUD shipped from amazon before.

I am waiting for the Extreme Pro version. Hope the discount to come again soon.

    • +2

I've read a few people having reliability issues with the extreme pro. Check it out before you commit. I ended up going down the 850 pro route as a result.

      • +4

Im extremely happy with my 850 PRO. I sent my EVO 840 for warranty last time and Samsung sent me a brand new 850 PRO. What an upgrade!

  • Thanks m8. got one because I only have 250GB ssds and I've realized only after I got my 1070 that games these days are insanely huge.

    • +1

yep ….. grand theft auto V is 60 GB, don'y need too many games to fill up SSD drives.

    • +1

No point putting then on ssds though.

      • Would save 7 seconds of your life.

    • Should invest in a large 7200rpm hard drive for your games. Get two for raid and it will be cheaper and just as fast as SSD (give or take a couple seconds)

    • lolll im sure I could use green drives to run the games aswell.
Think about all the times you need to install games, copy over games and open & close games. You are buying the more reliable, faster, more compact device here and that is WELL worth the extra cost over normal HDDs.

  • Thank you!

  • Whats the difference between Ultra 2 and Plus?

    • +1

Ultra 2 uses TLC nand and Plus uses MLC nand if I am not wrong. In theory, the MLC nand has a better longevity.

      • the more layers you go, the lower the longevity.

      • So in theory a Plus is a better version that then Ultra 2?

      • Plus uses MLC nand if I am not wrong.

The old version does. The new one is TLC. Who knows what version Amazon is selling.

  • Awesome, thanks for posting. Just grabbed myself one. $277 with express delivery.

  • Ordered the SSD, thank god that Amazon provides a English version of the page.

  • Nice one picked up the 480gb

  • How do these stack up (speed wise) with: SanDisk SSD Plus 240GB $77.60 Delivered @ PC Byte eBay ? Don't need a lot of space, but would prefer the faster option.

  • The price on the 960GB drive has now gone up to 219 Euro's. Damn.

    • Correction to this, when you get to check out, it makes it 184.03 Euro's, with shipping, it puts it up to 199.57 Euro's.

  • Is there anything special you need to do to buy from amazon? It doesn't seem to like the address I'm putting in.

  • +1

Mine is showing 116 Euros delivered.
    Is this correct?

  • 960gb model is now 199.57 Euros (no vat)… :(

  • Damn you Amazon, I am still waiting for my SSD. Today, my Program drive died on me. I was going to clone this drive over to this SSD.
