Breville BEP920BSS The Dual Boiler with Smart Grinder Pro $1038.40 (C&C) +$100 Store Credit @The Good Guys

COFFEE20

$100 store credit upon click and collect confirmed by Javelandy

Thanks to gnv9 for this deal, and heads up on Click and Collect credit. The Breville Dual Boiler at this stellar price deserves a special mention.

Goes from their sale price of $1298 down to $1038.40 after 20% off.
Also $1298 on TGG eBay, but only 15% ($1103.30), if you'd prefer to get it there for any strange reason.

I have this machine and can't recommend it enough. It outperforms the Oracle (their more expensive, fully automatic machine), and has 2 years local warranty. Nothing comes close to it at this price point in my opinion. [Edit: I'd best mention that it is capable of making incredible coffee, but like other manual machines, has a bit of a learning curve/requires a bit of passion/knowledge to get the most out of it!]

Stand out features:
Free conical grinder, of good repute (Breville Smart Grinder Pro, BCG820)
Dual Boiler (can pull shot and steam simultaneously)
Programmable Preinfusion (both pressure and time are programmable)
Volumetric programming (by volume or time)
Great steam pressure
Descale access
2 year warranty, allowing free repairs/services at many Breville authorised repair stores around Australia

Lots more - I'm a bit of a coffee nerd, so feel free to ask any queries in the comments.

Purchases I would recommend alongside it to make great coffee:
An accurate, durable scale (Acaia as the expensive holy grail, or various, cheaper brands that do a similar job)
An 18g or 20g VST basket
A nice tamp (Reg Barber or Pullman as the go to brands)

  • great deal, even without the store credit. Not sure whether this can beat the oracle as I've never tried one, but can't recommend it more. Even occasionally when I use supermarket beans, the double blind basket will help produce drinkable coffee.

Great deal for this machine. I have a HX at home, but a new double boiler at this price is steal.

My recommendation would be to get any extra warranty, if available, as I would still have some hesitations over the 'appliance' like nature of this vs the mechanical simplicity of the Italian models.

Also, personally I think the scales only over complicate matters. Sure, if you enjoy the process go for it, but you should be able to achieve consistency without weighing to 0.1 g. Secondly, I use VSTs and they are great, but a bit finicky for the new user. Thirdly, the grinder is a flat burr, not a conical ;)

    • sorry, Breville Smart Grinder Pro BCG820 is definitely a stainless steel conical burr grinder.
If I was to make any of my recommended purchases, a VST basket I'd probably the cheapest of the three, but I stand by a scale to standardise dose and yield to have the biggest impact on consistency.

      • wow my bad, I always thought that the breville smart grinders had 50mm flat burrs. I was completely wrong, its a 38mm conical.

In all honesty though, this puts more in the category of the cheap small conicals like the sunbeam 0480 and baratza preciso (a step below medium sized flat burr grinders). The quality these produce are in no way comparable to the true, large conicals. Mind you the burr set isn't everything. While I would certainly prefer the flat-burred compak k3 to this, I might be tempted to pick the breville over a rancilio rocky.

  • Hi All, I have been lurking for a deal on a coffee machine for awhile and it has finally come. Unfortunately my TGG $25 voucher has expired on me! Anyone here has a code with no use for it? I am happy to swap you my next code which should come in the next couple of weeks i hope. Please help a friend out!

    Cheers!

  • I just bought BES870 by using this CODE. Good deal.

  • Looks like they are out of stock, the model has gone from the webpage.

    • Same here.

However, if you go to their online catalogue it is listed there for the sale price and you can add it to cart and apply the coupon still :D

I ordered one last night this way. Not 100% convinced they'll honour it though.

      • Hmmmm interesting, but cannot get it for 24 months interest free online though. and if you click on it in your cart it goes to a item not found page.

        • I picked mine up today having added it to cart from the catalogue like I mentioned. So they're still in stock and selling for the deal price.

          Also got the 100$ voucher.

        • @DuaneDibbley: did you pay online before picking it up? I'm trying to get it interest free on my GEM visa and you have to pay in store to do anymore than 6 months

        • @BigglesKDH:

          Paid online.

      • I wasn't able to get the Oracle online through TGG, but I rang up to check stock and picked one up in store. Guy at the counter had to read the details a few times and then applied my 20% discount. Just polished off my first coffee and I'm very satisfied.
