Smeg Minipro Emerald Green Espresso Machine $1699 (or 339,800 Points or Points+Pay) Delivered @ Qantas Marketplace

30

Most other places have this for $200 more. I don't reckon it's worth even this price, but it is cheaper. Definitely check reviews (if you can find any that aren't advertorials) and of other similar priced machines. Even a Breville Bambino would give it a run for its money though it isn't as slick looking (far cheaper though).

I imagine people only buy this machine to match their overpriced toaster.

    • At that price and the time and effort you got to go make one plus the supplies like milk and coffee beans I'd just pay someone to make it for me.

Coffee enthusiasts will pay much more than this for a nice machine to make coffee at home. Personally I don’t think I’d spend more than $1k on a coffee machine. But even then, it would pay for itself after about 3 months if you drink 2 coffees per day.

    • I imagine people only buy this machine (for their matching overpriced toaster and kettle) so when they have guests over they can say "would you like a coffee or tea?" And point to the overpriced set of items.

    • i can see it fitting nicely in with a tastefully renoed (genuine) deco flat

It really looks like an e61 group head lookalike, very similar to the Sunbeam Torino series. Actually looking at the specs it might even be the same guts

Fancy packaging but not much else

For this kind of money I would rather of for the Breville dual boiler and a good grinder for less

Hold up, you don't have a coffee bench? What about a library? A butlers quarters! SIR HOW ARE YOU LIVING???!!

for that amount of money, might be better to spend it on an espresso branded machine rather than one that makes kettles, toasters, fridges and ovens…

    • Smeg are now owned by La Pavoni, so there might be some of their expertise in it, but any reviews I've seen just concentrate on the 'Oooh look at its Smegness' aspect, not the technical, so you have no idea how competent it is.

      • smeg rebadge other espresso gear so might be none of their expertise in it

  • Put a D&G sticker/cover and sell it $3K more
