HP Deskjet F2480 MFP $19 (or $18.05 with OW Price Match)

480

HT has a few available for pick up…just rang two OW in Sydney (West Ryde and Glebe), both have stock and both were willing to price match with HT. Normal ticket price at OW is $29.

NB Only comes with intro cartridges (Black + tri colour included)…so take this into consideration. Genuine HP ink costs $18.95 for black (HP60BK) and $26.95 for colour (HP60CLR) - these prices are from OW, so i'm sure you can get them cheaper elsewhere. Apparently the High Yield cartridges (XL) can do approx 600 pages per cartridge…but these are $50 at OW.

  • EDIT Apparently the USB cable IS included (according to most buyers)

Cheers!

lol instead of buying new ink for your printer! just buy a new printer when the ink runs out!

  • sweet , i may have got the 2 at nth ryde

    edit make that one lol

  • This solves the USB cable problem - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/USB-2-0-printer-Cable-2M-Male-Female-…

$1.59 shipped!! talk about low margins….

Surprisingly the printer I bought has a usb cable inside the box.

      • thats good news…just out of interest, which store did you buy it from? was the box (and cable) all taped up/sealed?

        • Officeworks in Glebe. Box was sealed.

  • Dam thats cheap! - see if you can get a good deal on ink with the purchase of printer.

i need a scanner and this is cheap.. so i might get it for that.
yeah.. def. won't get usb cable from OW.. they charge bloody $19!

also.. HT were(are?) linked(owned?) with OW.. when I worked there we could bring up their inventory and send people their way etc.. easy to pricematch.

  • what price match are you talking about? OW will price match HT but without 5% since it is owned by same parent company.

    • not by my experience they still have given me the 5% off previously , anyone else tried it ?

      • may depend on who you get.. guy I spoke to would give 5% off

  • FYI, I priced the XL ink for these at K-mart the other day. $57 for colour, $48 for black. I scored mine online at 9289:

    Black - $38

    Colour - $44

Currently out of stock tho. :(

EDIT: Cheap ink here: http://bit.ly/aZmciQ and http://bit.ly/djMZiw

    • how many pages can you print with the ink included in the printer?

Ink prices are there in the description, which ink are you talking about?

As far as i'm concerned, paying more than about $3 per cartridge for printer ink and you are getting ripped off. HP have chips in them resulting in notoriously expensive ink.

I suggest you look at Brother printers, then look at the printer cartridges for them off of ebay..

  • WORD OF CAUTION should you just want the scanning part:

Going by whirlpool forums; some multifunction units won't scan without ink.
these machines typically test ink when you turn them on.. so scanning only may see you chew thru ink anyway.
(however, one member wrote that his F series HP actually doesn't need the cartridges at all to scan)

OW still have a ?7? day no questions asked, return for any reason policy.. so you could test it out.

    • This is what i'm worried about, hopefully its not too bad.

I have a Brother inkjet multifunction I hardly ever print with, and it costs me $90 a year (Calidad cartridges) just to feed its cleaning cycles.

Trouble is it's a bit of a dirty little secret. Manufacturers don't provide a figure for this type of ink usage to allow you to compare different models. So my next multifunction will be a laser.

      • Just get your ink off of ebay for $3 a cartridge. Brother is the best for cheap ebay ink.

  • WHY can't they make it for free for trade-in….. it would be a better marketing than $19 dollars….

    • Hells yes! Had a stockpile of whiny printers that keep complaining about low ink even though I've filled it to the brim. Reminds me of this

BTW I saw this exact same model for $29 at Harvey Norman yesterday

  • Bought one! Thanks to OP

I just needed replacement ink for my last cheapo printer, well looks like a new printer it is. I wonder if the council can keep up with verge collections, when the looming cheap printer pandemic hits and nobody can cope with excess printers splurging across peoples front lawns.

  • Just bought one from Officeworks $18.05. Thanks

  • i remember last time this HP printer was listed here it was $40 with a $20 cashback from HP, actually you could choose a printer pack or the cash, took their sweet ass time but i eventually got the cash! only this time it's $2 cheaper and no waiting
ps the first one i bought was printing a little askew even after aligning the heads several times, too lazy to bring back ;)

Very disappointed after my visit to OW Carnegie tonight, someone bought all 19 units they had in the 1 hit.

    • Small computer shop maybe

Used to be a Dick Smith at that site yeah?

      • Not necessarily, Chadstone had 0 units.

Hate this kind of behaviour from some especially when they probably read the info from this website where everyone shares infos so everyone can get a bargain. I hope the price will go down to $20 everywhere across Australia so then they can use them to create a printer farm.

Thanks OP for the info and I need to buy one for my neighbour but with guys like that I don't think I will find anything on Saturday "first day I will be able to go to the shops".

      • Hey Kar, you dont actually need to go to the shop i ordered mine over the phone, you can use the phone or the net to place your order. I ordered mine and i havent picked it up yet , i will pick it up on saturday i got the saleperson to pick it up off the floor for me.

If you want to physically pick things up and have to wait till the weekend there's no point complaining as you will miss out on most bargains.

        You snooze you lose

  • got 1 from OW at Glebe branch. I have seen 2 boxes left before I get out.

  • hey, mine came with a usb cable, fyi

  • If JB matches these.. you get 50% off all inks

They have no more stock in their Brisbane store, so officeworks will not match it.

DSE will not match it if it's a clearance item also, so yeah.

If anyone in Brisbane works for DSE / Officeworks and can hook us up, let me know.

    • Are you sure there isn't something else us Brisbane people can do?

  • Do you need an 'áctive' ink cartridge for the scanning function to operate?

    • would be sweet if someone who bought it could do a test.
      i'm just interested to know

  • Well oxley road harvey norman have got 6 or so of them left at $29 bucks.

If you go to office works now (one that has the printer) and ask them to match it they'll do it for $27.55 I guess.

As far as I know (this will only work for 1 person) Office works browns plains has a display one which they'll give you a further 5% off so you should be able to get it for $26.15 or something

You can get a 60XL printer cartridge which does 600 pages for $17.98 off ebay i think, too.

  • I grabbed this when it was advertised few weeks back printer been going strong.

I get the XL cartidges off ebay for $9 each. Works a treat :)

    • $9? Link please

  • Do you have a link to the $9 each cartridges ? or is that excluding postage?
