Nothing about free shipping though :-(

I got this offer in the mail and thought it was a good one but then saw that this company has been fined by the ACCC for overpricing and false advertising.

    • thats no reason to neg the deal - this is actually a pretty good deal. $39.95 is a good price for the quality of their shirts, and the free polo deal has been only if you spend $75 in the past.

Is it free shipping or still $10-$12?

      • +2

Just got one, shipping was 12.95 (country Vic), bringing the cost for me up to 52.90. Still a quality shirt and polo delivered for a little over 50 bucks will do me. Velocity points just a bonus.

negative votes can be used to highlight major issues with the retailer.

        • -2

          What's the major issue here?

        • @willski84:
well 'major' isn't defined 100% in the guidelines.
but some people could see that a retailer misleading it's consumers as a 'major' issue, particularly if they were fined by the ACCC.
          didn't neg you btw..

        • @willski84: The retailer's integrity

        • @cxeq:
It probably is an unspoken practice by retailers but it is against consumer law as it can mislead a buyer to the extent of the discount they are getting and the true worth of the item.
Integrity in business is a pretty big deal as reputation is key to success.

You'll see with the ebbs and flows once the media dies down on this people will happily purchase from CT again.
Look at 7/11 deals for example.

My overall point is that highlighting an issue with the supplier is a reason to negative vote.
The community then decides whether or not the negative vote is a valid one.

This is a very good reason to neg the deal. I was looking to buy until the ACCC issue was pointed out. The neg vote served its intended purpose in helping ozbargain users to make informed choices by considering the retailer as part of decision.

        • -3

Nonsense. CT Shirts have been around $40 / 3 for $99 + shipping for long before the ACCC ruling.

Do you seriously think anyone, let alone OzBargainers, believed or paid their so-called RRP?

        • +1

CT were fined for advertising their shirts as being discounted from a price that they never cost. So the harm to the consumer was what? They got a shirt on sale?
Personally I'm glad CT got fined by the ACC, as this practice was annoying and a little bit dodgy, but we're not talking about faulty products, refusing refunds, over charging, bait & switch or something more serious. CT have great customer service, I've bought and returned (they just don't fit) their shirts 3 times, for a full refund.

Your neg and comments mislead people into thinking that they're going to get ripped off, when all that's going to happen is they buy a good shirt for $40.

        • +5

If you dont see anything ethically wrong with inflated 'was/now' pricing then good for you. Pointing out unethical business practices is worthwhile in making judgment on a retailer. Are the shirts a good buy for $40? Probably yes. Do I wish to support a business who has been found to act unethically in pricing? No. It is more than price that I look at. Hence why neg notes are allowed on ozbargain for reasons beyond price alone.

        • @kwydjibo:
The company breached one specific part of Australian Consumer Law. The ACCC are not the ethics police.

    • +3

Per the voting guidelines a neg vote can be given to "to let others know about issues with the deal, merchant or product." Therefore, I appreciate you flagging this as I prefer not to deal with dodgy merchants.

  • $12.95 for shipping - no option to apply voucher codes at checkout

    • Thats reasonable

  • +2

Phone call to their customer service: "Hello, I would like to order some CT Shirts". South Park

  • $52.90 shipped - definitely a good price for quality shirts. I have 5 for my work week - non iron are fantastic - collar stays was free with my first order worth $10 per pair (got 4).

Extra length - they never get out of your trousers / pant.

    Thanks OP

Thanks for the post OP, I'm sure some will find useful. As an aside, I can't believe this company is so arrogant with their was/now pricing that they have been fined by the ACCC!

  • +1

Wow, first (and last) post on this forum, got negged off the page for trying to warn people out on this company's dodgy practices as per the forum guidelines.

    Whatever.

    • Just a shame your neg vote was cancelled by those who do not see the wrong in unethical practices.

    • +2

      mate, don't be put off.
there are good people here as well.
Your neg vote seems harsh to an otherwise reputable supplier that offers a majority of Ozbargainers with a good bargain.
We're least likely to be mislead by was/now pricing here and their voting reflects that sentiment.

    • not the end of the world imo - just the collective doesn't agree with your neg vote.
really, is there a single ozb member that buys CT and TM Lewins at full RRP?

  • can I stack with 3 for $99 offer?

  • +2

Dodgy practices but how does that affect the people who use this site if they're getting a bargain? If Ozbargain users swarm onto a pricing error doing so knowing that the retailer has made a simple human error, would you call that dodgy?

If so, then this is the first site for people to be warned off and 3/4th of ozbargainers are definitely dodgy

  • The Polo was $499, now free.

  • I haven't received the shirts yet, have others got theirs?

    • Yep got the shirts and polo within about a week of ordering.

      • Okay. I've called them twice now they are saying the post must have lost the parcel.

        • I've ordered from CT about 5 or 6 times and the parcel arrives on the estimated date every time… it can take about 2 weeks though

        • @WillisAU: its been about 21 days. They cancelled my order this morning will process refund.
