    Why would anyone purchase this is beyond me, when you can get i3/i5 laptops for the same price…

      Really? I haven't seen any ASUS i3/i5 for $699 or cheaper.

      The only i3/i5 laptops I've seen around this price are ACER. I'm not sure you can compare an ACER to an ASUS machine with 2 year warranty.

      This is an okay deal, maybe not a bargain, but fine if you don't need dedicated graphics.

    Not really a bargain. It's just the prices of Core 2 Duo notebooks are dropping, don't get caught up in it.

    the ID has a 500gb HDD, and the graphics appear to be the same, but a HD version … i'm guessing that this is a downgrade to the ID they had previously

    edit - yup, going by static ice, this model's 2-300$ cheaper than the ID … and the price of this is the same across a number of resellers on staticice /edit

    agreed, the cotd one was far better than this. imo not a bargain. fairly standard pricing. mln seems to have better laptops at that price
