          @Strand0410:

It has all been a question of prioritization. When the market has not reacted positively to the innovation of MS, they have often pulled back to focus on other developments. It seems going forward the focus will be on the OS, rather than hardware (Which was originally the mainstay).

So yes Microsoft has not done its best, but the consumers have been slow to realize that Microsoft is the best innovator (pound for pound) in the OS market.

All the issues you have mentioned can easily be worked around (I use the phone every single day), so I know from a user experience that they do not hinder productivity. You just have to know your phone and how it works. Downloads can be easily restarted, and no my phone does not really slow down, even though I notice that apps are sometimes not appropriately tombstoned.

Consumers want to take the simplistic and ready-made route. I would rather place my bets on an OS that tries to push things to the next level, rather than an OS that is polished but very basic. With Windows I can have my experience exactly as I need it to be. Their focus is now tailored for enterprise users, but you will find that enterprise is probably synonymous with "Savvy"

I have used iOS, and I have used Android..for me MS is easily the most logical OS. Yes they make mistakes, I know all about those mistakes…but I believe in supporting the future rather than accepting a comfortable and mediocre present.

I hope you realize that Microsoft is barely even trying and they are still churning out groundbreaking tech! It doesn't take a genius to know that if consumers supported Microsoft, the experience would be like no other!

An OS with apparently 1% marketshare still launches developments such as continuum, UWP, 3D touch (although not released), camera tech on par with other flagships, arguably the best integration ever for PCs/Phones/Tablets etc and this is a struggling Microsoft?

I think this deal ends today - seems it's part of a 4 day sale

  • Price matched from HN Auburn for the 950. The 950XL has a more powerful processor and larger battery, but the overall battery life of the 950 will last much longer than the XL, and the 950 won't heat that much like the XL, also they have the same amazing camera which is the only reason I buy this phone :)

This is one of the most underrated phones on the planet.

I have one…and honestly I would buy another one, if I had money to burn.

  • I bought one of the Lumia 950XLs…and had to return it after 3 days because it was a dud. Would overheat for no reason, would stop recognising my SIM and want to restart every now and then…the damn thing even showed error messages such as "could not reset device, please try again".

A hard reset managed to get around that…until…

I tried syncing my iTunes library using the Windows Phone desktop companion app. Nopes, no dice. Changed USB-C cable from blitzwolf to the one in the box…same story. Migrated my iTunes library from my Win7 laptop to my Win10 Pro Surface Pro 3. Same issue again…

Eventually I had enough and took it back to HN…and they refunded it because of the issues with the SIM recognition…

UI is the only thing Windows Phone has going for it. Otherwise it's like hitting your head on a brick wall when it comes to apps.

Even the phone's own apps are $#!7 as…the camera app keeps lagging and stuttering, the app store doesn't know how to run downloads in the background…

Yes it's good hardware and good UI, but overall it's a desolate app wasteland compared to my Nexus 6P, S7 or S6 Edge.

I've given Windows Phone multiple chances going all the way back to even WP7…but at this stage, I'm calling it quits when it comes to WP. The OS has gone backwards instead of forwards over its life.

Today Harvey Norman price matched the 950 XL for $433.15. Considering the store that I usually go doesn't really do price matching for the online stores or past deals, they must be eager to unload their stocks ASAP. 950 XL price will drop further, but I doubt it will go below $350 in the near future. Decent deal. Thanks for the post.
