  • I note this unit features a 1TB HDD.
I pulled my SSD and additional RAM from my Zenbook before sending it back for warranty and god damit I doubt I could live with HDD speeds again.

  • The GPU has a 64bit bus so you can guess what the performance is like… I dont think you will be playing anything at even medium res. 1,080p…

  • Ask Dell to put it on eBay so you can reap benefits of a further 20% off, they almost always do this if you ask nicely.

    • I just tried. They said it's not possible.

      • Try a different rep / ask nicer ;)

  • Can anyone confirm is this has an IPS screen?
Dell chat said no, however screen 'help me' pop out suggests that new inspiron 15 5000 has 'wide viewing angle'.

    • However it also indicates it should be touch??
      Quite confusing.

      • I cant see anywhere in the description that mentions touch. It mentions non-touch a few times. Make sure your not having a look at the 15 7000 as that is the touch version and id say with IPS

    • I would be surprised if it did.
Dell laptops generally speaking tend to be reserved on displays

  • hdmi 1.4a , does it mean it can do 4K output to UHD TV?

    • Yes but only at 30Hz.

  • Just thinking whether I should buy it or wait for macbook

      Apples and Oranges.
      IOS ow Windows?

    • +1

The price difference between these two is astronomical. You're in the best position to decide which OS you'd rather settle for and how much you're willing to shell out for the MacBook.

      • I was referring to Macbook Air 13"

    • This laptop will be on Dell Outlet within a few months with a massive discount.

Size of screen in title please?

    • Says in the description 15.6 inches…

  • is this capable of running a driving sim game?
    if so which game?
are should i just buy an xbox one?

(don't mind playing a FPS game as well, i use to have a "ok" game rig back in the day (2000-2004)

    • Depends on the title you're looking to play, although I wouldn't think about running Forza on it. Low gfx settings could deliver playable framerates on less-demanding titles like Grid Autosport.
This is a computer that could serve you several purposes besides casual gaming. A video game console you can only use for media consumption and gaming. Pick your poison.

Don't buy a laptop for gaming. Please.

  • The GPU is similar speced to the 640M, which i own, a mid ranged laptop GPU from 2012.

    • Agreed, token GPU really.
I would prefer they ditch the GPU in exchange for improved battery life
