50% off Selected Prescription Sunglasses @ OPSM - Ray Ban RB3445 Incl Lenses $265

100

*Returning Customers Only

I bought a pair of Ray-Ban RB3445 prescription sunglasses almost 12 moths ago with this deal from OPSM for $269.97.

Unfortunately my glasses were destroyed at work, and I wasn't keen on paying full price to replace them. I sent an email to OPSM and received a call from them shortly afterwards. They told me that they had a similar deal running at the moment, where you get 50% off not only the cost of the glasses but the lenses as well. The RB3445 glasses I purchased today came to $265.

I can't confirm what other glasses this deal works with, and there is nothing listed on the website. The lady from OPSM told me the deal expires on the 16th October.

  • Apologies if this is a stupid question, but does anyone know if private health (I am with HBF and have optical cover), covers any portion of optical sunglasses?

    • They list HBF on their website. What you get back or a rebate for would depend on your health cover

I do 1 pair of prescription sunnies every year with BUPA.

      • You mean you bought online and used the receipt to claim later ?

    • Technically needs to be prescription glasses/sunnies to be covered under health insurance. Prescription being the keyword. If you dont need a prescription then answer will be no unless you find someone dodgy.

      • Ah good to know. I need prescription anyway :)

Im with hif does this cover these guys its for daughter but prescription was sent to specsaver.
I could be done with eye test also and if health cover use these guys too could maybe get deal on glasses.
    Is this a good price?

    • The optometrist who did the prescription has to provide you with your prescription. They sometimes don't like handing it out but they have to.

IMO most (if not all) prescription glasses sold in retail stores in Australia are a rip off. Check out Ozbargain's guide to buying prescription glasses online. Seriously has saved me thousands over the past few years. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/27669

This episode from The Checkout gives some good info about buying prescription glasses online. There can be issues with buying glasses online, whether it be from Australia or overseas, but as PrimaNuke says, you can save $$ buying from overseas.

  • Hi OP - which store did you go to? I've had mixed experiences with OPSM stores honouring these deals, particularly as its not documented anywhere I can find.

    • I bought them from OPSM over the phone. Same prescription and glasses as last time which made it easy. As I said in the post, I have no idea what other glasses come under this offer so it would be wise to call them and check, considering the deal is not on their website.

When I bought my glasses almost 12 months ago, I bought them through the Wangaratta store. I'd check first before going to the store, or you could always try them on in store then order over the phone.

I work for opsm. the offer is only available in stores not online. It was sent to selected customers who had made a purchase between certain dates.

    • Thaks, I've updated the original post.

  • Just called OPSM and was told you need a printout of the offer email. Gentleman I spoke to said as long as it doesn't have a unique name or identifier it can be used in store.

With that in mind, does anyone have a copy of the email they'd be willing to share :)

    • Quote the t&c and ask where in that it says you must show the email.

Or contact OPSM head office and ask for them to send you the email.

  • Please blur email id.

I also would like a copy

  • Due for an eye test today at OPSM, would love a copy of the email too.

  • Tried to go in without voucher, did not work. Lady called head office and said even if she saw pass the fact that I did not have an email, she still cannot allow a 50% off as I have to be a previous customer which have purchased from OPSM before.

    • Ok. I've updated the original post

  • Does say in T& C not transferable but other deals are available such as depending who your health fund is you may be eligible to get up to 20% off your lenses on your 1st pair and then for every pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses you get in addition to the 1st pair you will get 50% off the complete pair price.

    • I am a previous customer and as I said in my op, I sent a email telling them that my glasses were destroyed and asked if there were any upcoming deals. From the sales receipt, I believe the call I received was from the Wangaratta store not head office, who offered me this deal.
