    Am I the only one that has very little issues (none at the moment) with using itunes?

    • i've had my iphone for 2 years and still have very little knowledge about itunes :( for my phone its fine, but when i try to add music for my brother's phone which ive authorised on my computer, it refuses to let me and tries to sync my stuff in there.

      • That's how syncing works, it's your library, your music, when you sync a phone to it, it's treated as 'your' phone. You can specify which stuff to sync with your bro's phone or you can sign out of your account and your bro can sign into his, then sync it.

        Ideally, your bro should just sync with his own computer or a family music plan like apple music or spotify is much cheaper than buying music.

        • ahh hes not really interested in technology, neither is my mum but they got their own ipads and iphones thats about it. they dont have their own laptops or shared computers which makes that feature really annoying. i cant even just drag what i want in it, that would be the thing i miss most from android.

          i didnt know itunes was signed in? i thought i just plugged the phone in and it can identify the account from there. ill have a look at it when im home.

        • @kza2610:
          You should consider sharing a family plan for Apple Music or Spotify, it's fairly cheap compared to the money I used to spend on CDs and you can have up to 5 others on the plan with you. If you fill out every member slot, it works out to around $3 per month per person.

      Yes.

      Sounds like you actually stopped using it.

      • I have been using it for the better half of a decade to backup my phone, sometimes copy over some movies/tv shows. I honestly don't see what the fuss is about.

          • I can't stand the interface. It's terribly designed and confusing. And they constantly move things around with every update.
          • It's super sluggish to boot up.
          • Much like everything Apple it's missing features that the competition implemented years ago.
        • @BTRaynes:
          * Personal preference, probably one of the weakest reasons imo. You get used to it. If I wanted to make an effort to complain about something, I'd rather just spend that effort towards getting used to the ui. They've also probably just had 2 major changes in the last two years when it comes to moving things around, and at the end of the day, it was so minor and intuitive that I figured out instantly. To me, it just sounds like you're lazy.
          * I have no issues with speed, takes 1-2 seconds, though I am on an SSD
          * Vague. What features are missing that the competition have? Please enlighten me on an application installed which allows for controls on almost every aspect of your phone.

          @mrblu:

          A terrible interface isn't a matter of preference. It's like saying someone's lazy bc they complain about gear shift being placed behind passenger's seat.

          But good on you it suits your needs.

          @mrblu:

          I don't think personal insults is the way to get on here, mate. I agree with @BTRaynes regarding the interface. I don't like it and never have. You might like iTunes but that doesn't mean that you're right and anyone that disagrees is 'lazy'. FWIW, I'm not an idiot nor am I lazy. I have a University degree in Electrical Engineering with a major in computer systems. I coded for about a decade before, during and after my degree. Even though I am capable of navigating iTunes, I just have an alternative preference. I like a tree structure and prefer direct access to files in an Internet Explorer style of interface. I've used this program and others like it because they better suit the way I like to operate.

          If you like iTunes, stick to it.

        • @bigrizz:

          That's entirely fair and I didn't mean to insult anyone. However, there have been three different posters on this thread and no one has actually listed out direct examples of how the design is terrible or confusing.

          If you like tree structure and direct access to files, there's an app for that, if you plugged in your phone directly into a computer without itunes, you'd be able to access all the photos and videos you have on there. Hell, you don't even need to use iTunes in the first place for that sort of access, you can connect directly through FTP. I don't even know why you would be using itunes for that when USB is significantly slower for transferring files over Wifi. The fact that you've had to point out that you've got a degree in Electrical Engineering is direct evidence that it doesn't seem like you have any idea what they're talking about. You've stated that it's your personal preference, yet somehow this makes the iTunes application terribly designed or confusing.

          Sure if you don't want me to think you're all idiots, then maybe cognitively biased would better describe you three.

          @mrblu:

          Actually, maybe I am an idiot. I could have sworn you just insulted me but your opening sentence clearly suggests it is not your intention here.

          As for the rest of the commentary, it adds nothing to the discussion so does not warrant a response.

        • @bigrizz: So glad I settled on Android in this house. Imagine having to engage in conversations like this!…….

          Oops.

          @Ramrunner:

          Ha ha. I'm hearing you, mate. I too now have an Android phone but still have a household full of Apple stuff - iPad, wife's phone a couple of iPods, Macbook and a Mac Mini. Such is life.

  • iTunes works on OSX. This product is not necessary.

    • +2

      By that logic, since Microsoft Office works on Mac, no other office suite is necessary. Developers of alternatives should just drop tools and sign up as Uber drivers.

      • Being that iTunes is made by Apple and OSX was built with it in it, it actually works well. Whereas the windows version, I can understand the need for alternatives.

      • Or use internet explorer as default internet browser because it comes installed with windows:D

  • Apple sometimes change the db structure on the device with new versions of iTunes as they add features so I just stick with iTunes for that, used to use sharepod,
