Can you get TVs that curve the other way? i.e. outwards (convex).

    • +11

Yes. Plenty on the side of the streets 😆

    • +8

Just turn this one around 180 degrees.

    • +3

The ol' CRT's have convex screens! xD

    • +2

You can just brace it against the side of a door frame and use force with a friend on the other side to flip it convex. I do it to people's curved TVs all the time, trust me.

  • None available for pickup in any store pretty much the entire outer east side of Melbourne. $59 extra for delivery.

JB have these flash sales where all they do is bring the price to other retailers are selling give or take a few hundred but not $1000.
I've been keen on new tv so been watching all these deals last month.

  • Any big diff from ku6000?

Benefits the 7 series has over the 6 series (off the Samsung website):

•Active Crystal Colour (vs Pure Colour)
      •Bluetooth, including Headset support
      •Games (Samsung Apps)
      •Voice recognition
      •Sound Mirroring
      •MBR Support

      From Rtings:
•6 Series has better peak brightness than 7 Series (430 cd/m2 vs 398 cd/m), which is better for HDR
•7 Series has better screen uniformity and colour gamut
•6 Series has slightly better input lag (19.8ms vs 24.7ms),

Other than that the sets are pretty similar.

  • Tomorrow only.

  • 4K AND HDR? This is like the dream. Hope it doesn’t explode.

    • +7

With peak brightness of less than 400 nits and being only an 8 bit panel, this is poor mans HDR at best.

Minimum requirements for 'true' HDR is 1000 nits brightness and 10 bit panel.

Sorry to explode your dream lol.

      • Whenever my dreams end in an explosion, it's always messy and some cleaning of the sheets is required.

        Worth it though.

  • wow what a price…

    • Is it a good price? Maybe. Is it a great price? I don't think so :)

  • HN in Fortitude Valley had this model for $2,426 tonight, 10% off their advertised $2,696. Might be worth asking around for a deal.

    Curved TV…. Shortest idea ever.

If only this was the 8000

    • +1

      Agreed!

I don't think we'll see any significant price drops for the KS8000 until at least the announcement of the LS8000 models sometime next year..

  • From next year, will HDR = Ultra HD Premium or Dolby Vision? Or will we still get TVs with their own take on HDR, and others true 10-bit HDR.

I know the Ultra HD Premium standards were only announced this year, when a lot of TVs already were being released with HDR, despite no standard in place. It would make shopping for a TV a lot easier.

    • My bet is that HDR10 will win out, both major gaming consoles (XB1/PS4) have backed this horse as well.

      • I guess what I am asking, will I know I am getting a 10bit TV when a TV is advertised as HDR, or is that term HDR still not specifically defined.

  • As long as it doesn't explode I guess it's alright? Can't help but to think Samsung burned screens and machines on fire.
