Check out the Bauhn tv reviews on productreview.com.au before you spend your money is my best advice.

60 day returns policy. Make up your own mind from experience.

We got a bauhn TV that's at least 6-7 years old now. It's a 720p and it's still kicking along. YMMV

          61rd day

        • @BargainKen: How is the ghosting? A friends 65" Hisense from JB was so sad…

        • @plague69: no ghosting but the picture has got a tad fuzzy since new

        • @BargainKen: Thanks for the feedback! I will buy one for the grandparents then :]

      • No issue with my 58 a while back!

    • +47

I can't take anything on that website seriously… No one goes on there to post Positive reviews, only go there to complain.

      • +9

That's still a good reason to read these reviews.

        • -4

That's still a good reason to read these reviews.

Why? Opposition companies would never post reviews that are positive.

I highly doubt that many of those review sites are even used by real purchasers.

        • +2

          @llama:

By that logic you can't trust any review, good or poor.

I'm aware that there are plenty of fake reviews everywhere, some which you can spot a mile away but others you can't. So I understand you've got to read them with a grain of salt.

      • It's a shame cause I'm very objective when posting reviews, and I try to post on most things I buy, positive or negative.

My review on the 65 inch Bauhn was positive, fwiw.

        • That's a rarity. I like to think the i post objectively too, but ill admit that the only times i have ever posted on the site was for feedback on an item that wasn't as described.

      • Bit like most sites huh

Unless it's cash for comments ??

As Aldi trademarked Bauhn products come from different factories (effectively rebadged) & unreviewed current model (model number ends in release month) is most likely different to previous models, those reviews are almost useless. Reviews are sometimes for different model to title of review, may be inaccurate & often old.

Recent offerings have needed tweaking to hidden service menu settings to get great viewing, which is likely beyond what most Aldi shoppers are capable of. So those may get poorer reviews than most of us might experience.

Check out what OzBargainers thought of recent Bauhn TV deals, which have been favourably received. Also Whirlpool. But that's no indication of what to expect from this TV.

      Some things to consider…
Supplies are always limited & may run out very quickly on day. Cheaper Smart tv's usually have slow UI & may not be able to access some apps & services, so some recommend non-smart ones & add Chromecast etc. Many reports of poorer quality SD (normal free to air tv) viewing on UHD TV, probably due to upscaling - even on expensive UHD TV. Sound quality is consistently average to poor, but easily fixed by adding better audio gear. Quality control has been an issue with Aldi supplier Tempo. After sales service is almost non-existent, compared to brand name products. (Aldi may only offer a refund for faulty product.)

For what it's worth to anyone reading, I recently picked up a bauhn 4k 40" and am really impressed for the price. Has HDMI 2.0 so had it running 4k at 60hz, and haven't noticed any colour or backlight issues. It was reduced to clear, $300. Thought it would be rude not to..

If anyone has any questions i'd be happy to answer

  • I missed the 60" deal, although in the back of my mind, 60" was going to be too big for the space. Now ill jump on this deal and not need to buy a chrome-cast.

    • I missed it too, that was dumb, this is smart too if that helps :)

      • +1

there still appeared to be a couple 60" knocking about at my local aldi store over the weekend. Saw them at lidcombe, nsw.

        • I think metro probably get many more than regional - my local Bathurst sold out (as norm)

        • There was one of the $799 65" TVs left at Aldi Auburn at 11:00hrs today - there were two but I bought the other one! There were none at Lidcombe and they told me to head down to Auburn instead. Lidcome did have a 55" 4K TV from the July sale marked at $599 so that's an option too.

They were both out on the store area so you will need to ask if it's still there.

        • @freddofrog42: My bad, I meant the 65"..

        • +1

          @chriise: As did i

        • +1

@Scorn: Ah! It was your fault!

  • There was a Soniq TV on the other day for the same price. Wonder which one is better?

    • -1

IF you want to buy a Soniq Tv you should consider pick it up at JB Hifi.2 years total warrenty and if you change your mind them would be happy to give you a voucher. That's why i always buy electronics at JB Hifi, does not matter if sometimes is more expensive. It worth it.

      • +7

If you want to buy a Soniq and are able to get to their warehouse, buy if off their website directly and save $$ compared to JB prices.

      • IF you want to buy a Soniq Tv you should consider pick it up at JB Hifi.2 years total warrenty

That is strange, since I specifically found that JB warranty on most Soniq TVs is only ONE YEAR.

        eg 43": https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/hd-televisio…

The refurbished from Soniq website are 18mths warranty, whilst at JB they are only 12 months.

However I just found one Soniq 4K TV that Jb claims has a 3 year warranty.

Anyway, I think you should check where you are getting that "2 years" claim from.

is SA going to be include this time or more aldi snobbery? i emailed them to ask, and of course, email ignored.

Can anyone comment on the Wacom tablet?

    • Just read the comments from the last time it popped up. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/217154

    • They are hard to get, generally all "brodened". I'd love one but I've been burnt by Aldis sales too many times to bother anymore…

    • I'm the OP of the last deal, and I've used mine every day at work since then. It's good stuff. My last Wacom (graphire 3) lasted 10 years and I only replaced it because you can't get the nibs anymore.

Note that it doesn't have an eraser on the pen, as it's the most basic model.

Otherwise, look through the comments on the old thread, there's lots there. Feel free to ask any specific questions :)

  • +1

The tablet is really tempting… Shame Wacom didn't care to give it an eraser…

    • Sadly you have to go up to the Intuos Pro line for that, or about $350.

      • Old Wacom Bamboo tablets had them.

        Market segmentation sucks ducks.

  • 11 months 27 days

    You missed the hours

    • Oh well, I will get it next time ;)

  • Is the paper shredder any good?

    • Yep not bad no issues with mine. Does what it spose to do

    • +4

Nope… Seem to eat up the papers

  • Thinking of getting the tablet, do these things sell out quickly?

    • Majority of good products on sale sell out quickly… Need to be waiting there from 8am or before for opening time of 8:30 to be sure to get what you want in my experience otherwise you miss out..

    • +1

Last time this deal came up I arrived at my local store an hour after opening and they'd sold out. I had a feeling someone bought the lot.

      • They never get enough in!!!

        • Generally Aldi gets enough in. But when 100 people are waiting outside at 830am for the same thing. You can see why they sell out quickly.

        • @nick-silvy: Definitely! I have always been told if you want anything get down there at 8 and wait with the other 100+ people (like boxing day sales trampling)

        • +1

@Jase1: Depends on the store too - our local doesn't get much traffic and occasionally still has things on Weds.

Also.. depending on your store (and travelling distance) it may be worth doing a sneaky trip at 7pm the night before. I've picked up Weds/Sat deals the night prior because they started doing nightfill early.

        • @Nametab:
Thanks for the tip! I didn't know they would sell them to you earlier, but I am regional so may be different to metro?, store only like 10 mins max there and they close at 8, so will see how I go ;)

        • @Jase1:

haha.. I don't think they are allowed, but in retail, mistakes happen and reps have their will/souls crushed by customers, so sometimes you get lucky ;)

  • +3

We sold 36 lawnmowers in about 2 hours at the ALDI I work at, Shit was crazy never seen so much fuss over lawnmowers…

    • +1

I was told at my local they only got 15 and were sold out within a few mins of opening… They are better mowers than the Bunnings ones…

  • +2

what the specs of that gaming pc?

    • +1

      i7-6700
      GTX 1070
      16gb DDR4
      256gb M.2 ssd
      2tb hdd
      keyboard AND mouse

P.s. I've always thought you had an awesome username Web. I was originally going to go with mrdavetherapist but it was too similar to yours ;)

      • +40

i read it as "web the rapist"

    • +1

I really wouldnt get it tbh. Looks way overpriced.

      • ok, thanks :)

      • +6

Really? Can you suggest a reputable place to purchase something similar? Most 1070 GeForce pcs are 1800+ With lower specs and no windows. This comes with Windows 16gb ram, 6700 cpu and a 2tb hard drive most come with the 1tb.

      • +1

Not really. Excluding build fee and warranty it's only around $200 more expensive. No keyboard or mouse either (although they're probably like $20 at most). http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/hvgtWX

        • Yeah, also remember that shipping has not been added to that list, so the the difference will be less than that, unless you enjoy driving between 3 states.

      • i7-6700
      • GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5)
      • 16GB DDR4 RAM
      • 256GB SSD
      • 2TB HDD
      • CD/DVD
      • Win10
      • mouse/Keyboard
    • +7

It actually isnt a terrible price to be honest. Of course building it yourself would be cheaper but buying pre built would come roughly the same price if not more. Pc case gear cheapest 1070 system is $1900 with only 8gb ram, but then shipping as well would take it over $2k most likely.

      • +3

I priced out the same set of components using the absolute cheapest prices I could find and it came to $1562 from 4 retailers. (So add multiple amounts of shipping, or pay more to get it from one.)

Buying it from Aldi gets you a better warranty, already put together and a cheap kb+mouse thrown in too.

        http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/p3rvZ8

        • +1

I agree with everything you've said, but there's something fun about putting together a computer by yourself I think haha

        • +4

          SSD is not M.2

  • -8

I would just laugh at anyone who gets that gaming pc XD

    • +5

testing for 60 days then return if not happy with it :)

        • +27

nah, that's frauding and to be honest a bit too low for OzBargain's standard: we're after deals NOT steal.

        • +9

The pc is pretty decently priced tbh if you are not experienced with buying your own parts and just want a kickass pc without getting ripped this is a good choice

        • +1

@mrwillc: Certainly a well priced and decent gaming PC for the price.

        • +5

          6) Aldi employee is Tech Savvy & re-checked the component
          7) Jailed & Shamed

        • -2

@webtherapist: Of course I wouldn't do that XD hence the '420'

        • @webtherapist:

I reckon they'd have a sticker on there anyway (void if removed) if you open the case or something I'm guessing

        • @montorola:

That is usually the case for their devices. You will find one of those security stickers at the back of the case.

      • If it was a K series cpu just clock the **** out of it get it up to 5ghz then return after 59 days

    • +4

Why? I did a quick part picker build with the same specs using mostly the cheapest parts you can buy and it's only $200 under the price and that doesn't include warranty/build fee. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/hvgtWX

Doesn't seem that bad of a deal if you ask me.

      • +1

Agree 99% of prebuilt pc marketed as "gaming rigs" are complete ripoffs especially on fleabay but this one is actually one of the better ones for its price all decent parts and an Intel cpu none of the cheap amd trash

    • +1

      whats wrong with it?
