Not everyone has the time or skill or is clued up on sourcing parts, building a PC and testing and it's pretty arrogant to think everyone should be.
Looking around, this looks pretty reasonable for something you can grab, take home, and is pretty much ready to go and has a 2 year warranty and 60 day satisfaction guarantee.

I'd personally like to look at it more closely before spending those bucks, but with the information on it so far, it doesn't look too shabby at all.
Might grab one, add some of my stuff to it and tweak this current machine for my son for Xmas.

So true. To people who say "why don't you just build it yourself?" I say "do you cook every day?". We might be capable of making our own food, yet we still buy takeway. Not everyone is a computer enthusiast, but we all need to eat.

      • +5

Computer enthusiasts don't need to eat.

  • Would the tablet be feasible for note taking in lectures? I was gonna get the bamboo spark since ever note struggles to understand my handwriting.

    • No, these Wacom tablets are much rather suited towards users in the creativity industry, or casual hobbyists if we're talking about this particular tablet.
The amount of space they take up is not very efficient for lectures (since you gotta plug it into your laptop) and also they won't be too great for legibility. Our household owns multiple tablets like these over the past few years.

Bamboo Spark I've never experienced but after a quick search, without doubt it it'd be much better choice for your use due to a higher hand-eye co-ordination registration when writing on paper.

      • Can I just plug it and leave the laptop on the ground while I leave the tablet on the desk thingy? Honestly, sparks' price is a bit too high. I'll get it if need be, but I really wanna be cheap lol

        • It's not an LED screen like the Samsung and iPad tablets. How it works is that you draw on the plastic tablet and the information displays on your laptop screen. That is, having you to write without looking at your pen/tablet but instead your laptop screen. Quite an old school use of the word tablet :)

Bamboo Spark all the way :)

    • I would strongly recommend getting a Livescribe (choose the right one, there are a few types) and/or some version of dragon naturally speaking software…
The pen is amazing, great for tutorials etc., you will need permission to use, speak to student assitance/spec. needs to see what, but get some kind of proof of your need to use.
Lecturers consider their information copyright and don't want all their hard work "passed on" to other people without proper reasons.

  • Honestly Building a few PC's over the years and trouble shooting faulty Ram, and Mobos, if your not 100 sure what your doing, or just couldnt be F*D any more to build a system its pretty decent value.

The next gaming system I get from scratch will be ordered fully built, and tested.

If I was in the market right now I would seriously consider it. The only thing I see is that the CPU isnt overclockable but my last CPU was and I never bothered to do it because it never bottle necked.

  • How does the PC compare to buying an equivalent one at the Dell outlet store?

    • This pc is a beast pretty much Top of the range components

      • There's currently an XPS model at $1699 that seem to be an equivalent match price wise considering it has a lower end graphics card to the Aldi one

  • The smart TV features on the Bauhn TVs(when compared to other smart TVs) are a bit like comparing feature phones to smartphones. Don't buy it for the smart features but the screen is usually serviceable / okay. If you want smart features, just budget extra for a ChromeCast instead.

Good advice. Also remember that a "Smart TV" is almost never upgraded. For example a 2014 model "Smart TV" is pretty horrid in that respect only 2 years later…

Many of the newer TVs aren't even running Android (or don't have official access to Google Play Store), so upgrading or replacing the apps is often impossible.

I think it is far better to leave the TV to doing what it does best (being a TV and monitor) and leave the other stuff to cheap and easily upgradable add-on devices.

Not sure why all the hate towards the PC. Those wondering if the PC is worth getting; in terms of pre-built rigs, this is probably the best I've seen in terms of bang for bucks, and I built my own rig. This build will last you for the next few years. I might even pick one up for the missus to use.

Keep in mind not everyone is a 'hardcore gamer'. Some, like my missus, are happy just to be able to play the latest games. These casual gamers are the type that won't be able to tell the difference if a game has AA on or off. Also not everyone has the spare time to build their own pc.

So, as a serious gamer myself, I say this PC is a really good (if not the best) deal if you want to jump into PC gaming and want something that will last for the next few years worth of game releases. Anyone telling you otherwise just tell them to (profanity) off.

    • A very very decent build for 2k tbh. Sick of waiting for the Mac Pro update, and it looks like Apple ain't gonna release them on Friday anyways. Gonna get one and hackintosh it.

      • nvidia haven't released drives for that card yet. so you'd be limited to onboard video, just remember that in case you needed some outputs or refresh rates or graphics performance from that.

        • Edit: Insular is correct my apologies, I thought this was regarding the deal not the Hackintosh thing

        • @str1k34: is that for MacOSX? no. so don't accuse me of spreading misinformation when your interpretation is incorrect.

  • Does anyone know how the Soniq 55" 4K TVs from jbhifi compare? Same price at $699

  • Does the gaming PC support 4K output via HDMI?

    • +1

I'd assume so because the 1070 has a HDMI 2.0 port.

Love all the noobs downvoting, it isn't an amazing Price

      • I didn't even notice the negs until now…I'm sure that if you did a 1:1 comparison to actually buying the parts and stuff you wouldn't buy this.

Bargains are in the eyes of the beholder I guess.

        • -1

Yeah, no idea about the quality of the parts etc.

        • Maybe if you did it yourself you would see the price would be very similar.

  • How much would this cost if someone built it piece by piece?

I've read this thread, but I couldn't find an answer…?

  • I bet the psu and motherboard aren't so flash though

  • Graphics tablets at the Melbourne store were sold out 2 minutes before opening, as they let people in early.

    • +2

PC's sold out at the store I visited. I got the last one 7 mins after the store opened. It was easy to set up and is humming along nicely.

      • Would you open it up & get some pics, model numbers & brands for parts man? would really appreciate it.

        • +1

          I can't take any photos.

          The PSU is a FSP Fortron/Source FSP450-50AMDN
Motherboard is SK hynix HFS256G39TND-N210A. Made in Korea for a German company.

It has one spare slot for memory and a spare PCI express x1.

        • @Ruprect: thanks heaps man really helped me out aha! Edit: I think you got the M.2 SSD model not the motherboard.

        • @sageownz:

Ahh yes. It was the only sticker I could see in their besides the one on the PSU.

        • @Ruprect: ah ok, if you open it again & catch the mobo model let me know. thanks.

  • If you ring customer service on 13aldi they can tell you where there is stock. I think my local store only got one computer each. I bought the last one at my closest and then got a really nice guy on the phone who got one put aside at the next store (also the last/only one). My youngest is trying his out before Xmas to see if it does want he wants but he did think it looked "beast" which I think is good.
