Just logged into the HeyYou app to redeem my $2 discount coffee but saw a banner about a free coffee when you add Visa checkout as a payment source. It did say new visa checkout customers only but I was an existing customer and it worked. Enjoy.

i just added in a new payment option which is visa checkout. do you just order like normal and pay via visa checkout and miraculously don't get charged for it?
I added it as a payment option, then I added a coffee from a cafe to my cart. When you click on your cart, it shows it as $0 because of a discount from the visa checkout.
I think it's targeted too. Not exactly sure how, but my colleague has it come up for her but it doesn't appear for me. Thanks anyway OP!

I've never used HeyYou, signed up using random referral link above and an error code came up when logged in.
I now cant find any option to find my friend referral code… Do they still offer this?

I created a Visa checkout and am at the 'payment' screen
Save in the top right is greyed out and I can't proceed.

I had this issue too. That screen is just where you select your payment method. If the Visa Checkout is already selected it won't allow you to re-save. Just close that screen and go through the steps of buying a coffee as normal. When you get to the "shopping basket" page it will show $0.00 as the total. :)

No, MC and AE are fine.
From next year you can even use your fingerprint to pay via Visa Checkout using Android Pay.
I had the banner but what I don't like about these is you only see the free coffee on checkout. By then it's too late to back out.

I agree that it sucks though. Same with those UberX deals where we had to have faith the email promotions would apply.
I just mean that by the time I've decided to order a coffee through the app, maybe gone to the store to order (I know I can do it from anywhere - but I'm old school ;-)) and get to the checkout page just to find it isn't free then I'll probably end up paying for my coffee and be annoyed.
Yeah I know what you mean. I use the app around the corner to avoid shame should it fail (same with Guzman Y Gomez).
With Messina, after I heard the app had troubles I explicitly asked whether the app works in their store up front to avoid a situation. Same with the Vapianos voucher. There's no way in hell I'm paying for something I would never have bought otherwise (it's against my belief system to pay $20 or more for Spag Vol unless it's a special occasion).
The free $10 credit for St George customers might still be on as well (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/261902). The intended expiry without termination or extension was NYE 2016.

anyway he was using paypal (for MC i guess) and then he managed to add the mastercard as a card and got a free coffee lol
i tried it myself but as i already had mastercard it didn't work even after deleting paypal and the mastercard
Visa checkout doesn't need Visa. Visa just owns it. It's caused the same confusion for 2 years now.

Boom. Can confirm it's UNLIMITED use. Just create a new HeyYou login and Visa checkout account and you can still use them same credit card (just remove it from the previous account you created). Looks like it's anything under the "coffee" menu as I'm still getting $5 off each time haha.
