Oppo F1S (Optus) - $249 @ Kmart

280

$10 cheaper than the last deal.
Bought one then but unfortunately lost it to the sea.. (don't ask). Was very happy with it overall after coming from a SGS6+.

So needed another one and happened to call in Kmart before going into the Optus shop. Plenty left at Southport, I'm assuming other stores will stock this at the same price but you would need to check.

Sells for around $340 elsewhere and this one is obviously without the selfie-stick which cam with the last deal.

Other MVNO sims with Optus will also work with this. I'm using an Exetel sim in mine.

Excellent phone, bought for GF after her HTC M7 carked it and she loves it. Screen looks surprisingly good despite being 720p.

How did you loose the phone at sea?

  • IS this single or dual sim OP? Looks like a good deal for a dual sim

    • This version is a single sim.

It's worth reinforcing this comment from the previous deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4062510/redir

Also selling for $259 delivered from the Optus store, not $340

    • Is it crippled at a software or hardware level? If it's just the software, can those bands be resurrected by installing a custom rom?

      • No idea sorry, but I'm sure someone else might know

      • The Optus version of the phone is crippled so it won't support 850MHz for either 4G (Vodafone) or 3G (Optus).

Even if you were to unlock the phone, the Optus prepaid version is still gimped and won't be very useful for telstra or voda. On the flip side if you intend to use it in metro areas, it's still usable with telstra.

For what it's worth if you paid on a gold/platinum or better credit card you generally get 90 days of accidental loss/damage coverage. The excess is hefty but cheaper than the cost of a new phone.

  • what's the PPI like? I have the F1 720p 5" would like one of these just worried without seeing one first. @ 5.5" 720p

Anyone know where to unlock these cheaply? An ebay link earlier posted on the other thread is expired. Otherwise have to think of buying the more expensive unlocked version.

    • I suppose if you were going to use Telstra in an area with poor 4g reception you might want 850 mHz support anyway (but I have no idea of the latest), which unlocking won't give you.
