$200 off Koala Mattress Purchase with Coupon (Single - $450 Shipped with Coupon)

110
FREAKFRI

First post!

Received the coupon code via email from Koala as I signed up to the mailing list.

You need to remove the $100-off coupon automatically applied at checkout (SPRINGX4C) and use the one above for a bigger $200 discount.

Offer appears to be part of their Halloween campaign (which according to an emailed response from Koala was meant to expire on Saturday 29th), but as of 8pm Monday 31 October 2016 the code still worked for me.

Just bought the double mattress after seeing some good reviews here on OZB and Whirlpool, with the 120 night guarantee I figured I had nothing to lose.

If anyone has any comments on this mattress I would love to hear them.

Worth noting that Koalas aren't particularly tall, so most OzBargainers will have their feet hanging off the end…just FYI.

    • They are smaller than a standard Aussie mattress size?

You need to keep in mind that recently Koala changed the construction of the mattress from 3 layered to 2 layered. Whilst they claim it's superior who knows. Most reviews you will find online are for their older 3 layered mattress….

    • Thanks. I did notice that actually. Will test and report back!

      • let me know too. Onebed is also 3 layer for same price. but couldnt find any reviews

Just receive it today and have to say that it is too soft so I and my wife decide to send it back to them.!! But I think because of my preference that I am not interested in soft mattress.

I prefer hard mattress too. Do you know which brand or shop selling good quality hard mattress?

Have a look at Ozmattress, they have option of a harder style. I love my Grand Master
        http://www.ozmattress.com.au/

        • Was just going to mention this too. The Ozmattress MOD double is about a hundred bucks more and is the second on my list if the Koala doesn't work out. Note I think they don't have a full refund policy though, only exchange.

        • +1 to the grand master

not that cheap but a very very good mattress

          @Dadidalol:

Just having a quick look, there is a big difference between the two which is also reflected by price.

Ozmattress has springs and is probably longer lasting because of this. Koala is just polyurethane foam which will sag over time.

Have had a mod Queen for 2 years and am happy with it with no issues.

        • @plasmapuff:

Thanks buddy, did you get the soft-med or the med-firm? Have you noticed it being too warm or softening up over time? I am a tummy sleeper so I prefer plush but plush mattresses are not too great for bad backs (or so I've heard)

There doesn't seem to be very many reviews on the MOD model (mainly GM or Supra) hence my hesitation…unfortunately I only have room for a double which is only available in the MOD, and I'm still not sure if I should buy a non-refundable mattress without trying it out first. At least the Koala 120 trial and the IKEA mattresses appear to be obligation free.

I'very seriously considered getting the MOD however, and I'm really glad to hear that it's lasted so well for you!

        • @Dadidalol:
Medium firm. Its actually not too hard at all - Nothing like the very firm board like steel spring mattress I had before. Definitely very comfortable.

If you look at the comparison on their website, there's not much difference specs wise between the mod and supra. My edges still feel like the rest of the mattress despite not having the extra edge support touted in the supra.

Like I said, we've used now for 2.5 years exactly with no regrets. No appreciable sag but I'm pretty light at <70kg.

      • I have bought two DeRucci from China, it is good but expensive, I have checked the price here, it is above $5000 for the one I have in China, about double the price, but really good stuff

    • I have a harder foam mattress from Seahorse http://seahorsemattresses.com.au/ - well known in Asian company making harder mattresses for a market that prefers mattresses harder. My friend told me they do a 50% off sale a few times a year so I got my Diamond one half price 4 years ago and I really like it - it hasn't sagged. The price has remained the same after all these years.

I tried all the super expensive shops eg The Comfort Shop and my $500 (sale price) mattress beats those ones in the $thousands.

      Not associated with Seahorse btw.

  • Been keeping an eye on these for a while. All these online mattress retailers appear to be pretty much identical as far as free trials and warranties go. Are any of them considered head and shoulders above the rest or are the mattresses more or less the same too?

  • There's a good post in the forums here for anyone interested:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/246989 - Ecosa v Ergoflex v Greywing v Ikea v Koala v Onebed v Ozmattress v Sleeping Duck

  • This is the company that bribe people to write positive reviews about them.

  • Pillows. Pillows are doing me head in. Got an expensive bed/mattress, but a spine injury wreaking havok with my sleep….. when the pillows bunch or sag and the neck's 5 off 90 degrees I'm awake for hours…… need a premium pillow with plenty of good reviews.

I bought one from my Osteopath, I think it's a Tempur one for side sleeping. It's amazing. They also sell the Complete Sleeprrr which gets rave reviews.

I'd never skimp on a pillow again, happy to pay $100 it's a very wise investment

      • Thanks for the tip.

  • Sadly, it seems that the FREAKFRI code has now expired.

I was going to buy one at $750, but $850 just tips the scales for me.

    • you can use SPOOKSUN for $150 off in case 800 tips them back. I still can't decide if i should try them or not

  • Wanted to buy a double mattress but the code isn't working. $850 is way too much for me. Thanks for sharing :).

Thanks for the update. Marked this deal as expired, however the SPRINGX4C code for $100 off still appears to be valid. Cheers.
