I tried in GORDON that guy is not selling … what did u say to him ?

      • All I said was "I understand" to his comment about no guarantee of receiving the $100 credit.

Try visiting on the weekend when the casual staff are working, they might be less hostile.

  • Hope to be a bearer of good news in a couple of days.

    • No need to. We already know you will get the $100 credit back.
      I bet you my life.

      • Thanks for the assurance.

I know people here want a confirmation for their own assurance.

    • Depends on what sort of purchase you made. I have personally confirmed that my two $300 HN gift cards got me my expected $100 credits. Was your news about the V-Pay thing? If so then you might want to also state where and when you got it as results may vary depending on if those HN places actually contacted Amex about it.

      • All purchases of anything $300 and above at HN except the domayne ones will work.

He/She did say above. Didnt they?

        • I'm assuming so but there have been so many posts in this thread that it is hard to find ones which say they for $100 credit for a HN V-Pay card purchase. Even if they got the $100, I'm more interested if $100 credit was given to the other people who were told by the local HN manager that they will call Amex (or whatever) as well as those HN stores that had signs up saying that the $300 GC/V-Pay option will not be honoured.

I'm still waiting for another 3 x $100 worth to come through on my wife's cards from HN Chadstone (VIC) which we got on Sunday 13 Nov. Should hopefully be coming in the next day or so based on how fast the other set came through.

        • @danielh: Usually if AMEX AMEX it is quicker, but if it is Bank AMEX takes 1 extra day.

        • @Turd: All 6 are Bank Amex so I usually expect the full 5 business days. Was just surprised that the HN ones were only two (plus weekend). All my recent Hilton ones were the full 5 business days.

        • @danielh: got the 3 x $100 credit as well now. Took 4 business days.

I bought an Xbox One S 500GB console online to use up the last of the three Amex credits I registered for, when I picked it up they accidentally gave me the 1TB version instead, for once HN incompetence has worked in my favour!

    • Hahaha, well done!!! :D

How's the One S anyway, are you playing any 4k stuff on it? I was thinking of getting an xbox one for a bluray player

  • Anyone checked that Nunawarding or Chadstone stores can accept paying AMEX multiple times for GC?

    • +1

I got a $900 HN gift card from Chadstone with no issues. Ran across three Amex.

  • I placed an online order for gift card to HN and they rejected my transaction. $2001 + $1001.

    • that sucks cause now the offer will be used, and now you have to (profanity) around and call harvey to get your money back, they dont refund you unless you call HAHA.

      • So are you saying that if you make a purchase then refund it straight away that the offer is used and won't be triggered for a purchase that actually goes through?

        • NO, im saying that in their system, they have actually taken your money from the credit card, so amex thinks you've purchased something. but they will send you an email saying they will not honor your purchase. they will keep you money until you call them until which time they will refund the money.

therefore the offer is used, however amex will take the credit back once they see the refund.

        • @hippyhippy: What if your purchase is refunded straight away and you never get the credit, just the email. Can you then make a qualifying purchase and get the credit?

        • @JIMB0: well i dont think so, once u get the email thats it i think. if not sure, then give them a call. maybe amex can work out something for you.

        • +1

@JIMB0: If you purchased… never get credit, purcahse again it will still work and you WILL get the credit. That's why it says it can take 5-90 days. Also says can do mutiple purcahses. It is just that the first over $300 purcahse will trigger the email, credit comes when the money is applied and taken.

    • Online they are being really tight and it's quite frustrating. This happened to me and just had to go in store

      • Too much instances of fruad maybe?

What if you purchased a card online with VISA? LOL

        • I know - somehow I think it would go through

If they are so worried about fraud just remove the option for online GC's

Im sure Gerry would not be happy to see how poor the service is from the online division

        • +2

@chrig: LOL Gerry will call us scammers for using amex. Gerry can suck a big horses ding dong

        • @Turd:

Im sure he likes the fact its driving revenue to him

  • Keep an eye on your statements to confirm your credits.

I made two $500 Harvey Norman purchases - one on each of my registered cards on 4 November. I used PayWave.

I never got an email to confirm either one.

On 6 November a $100 credit hit the first card I used.

It's now 18 November, the second card has not received a $100 credit.

On their web site the 2nd card shows as having redeemed the offer on 4 November, but no credit.

    Have emailed them.

    • I believe using paywave takes time to process and verify. Sometimes the merchant may hold the money and or bulk process them.

Naturally paywave should only be used for Under $100, if over $300 you have to enter a pin so might as well stick it in!!

    • 5 out of 5 for me. No issues. Bought $600 HN Gift card at Corio HN (Geelong) and a $900 one at Chadstone (Vic).

  • Could any CBA Diamond Amex cardholders with a supplementary card please tell me if the supp card has different numbers or the same?

    • +2

ANZ and NAB have different supplementary numbers. Westpac the same number and I'm reasonably sure that CBA is also the same but not 100% on that one.

    • +1

Numbers are the same for CBA just checked ours

  • maximum number of card members enrolled :(

  • +1

Spent $600 at Harvey Norman - Auburn Superstore and got emails immediately. They will only allow split payment to 2 cards maximum so avoid if you want to use >2 cards.

  • I got this email from Amex :-

Fraud Protection Alert - Please Review this Charge

looks like I am not gonna get Cash back…

    • +1

I got that email and still got the cashback…

      • oh ok..

      • Received credit

    • did you buy instore or online?

      • In store

  • HN Chadstone (Vic) now has a sign in front saying gift cards are excluded from the Amex offer.

    • Does this mean buy at your own risk or they just won't accept Amex for gift cards?

    • Every hn has that sign. Gc has always been excluded according to the t and c.

      • Went to Moore Park (NSW) and bought 4x$300 last week and didn't see such sign. They only had $100 and $200 gift cards so ended up with 4x$100 and 4x$200. No big deal. Valid for 2 years.

        • Weird. The HN gift cards I got were any denomination ines so I got a $600 and $900.
I would also say it is now buy at own risk. Maybe buy a $295 gift card and then buy a $10 item the next day to not make it look like a flat $300 value to Amex.
FYI this sign was new as I was there last week and saw nothing about it then.

  • I would like to use vpay cards to load into the Coles Reloadable MasterCard.
I'd like to clarify a few things:
    - Can I buy the Coles Reloadable MasterCard from the store?
    - If it is only available online, do I have to load min $10 or Max $100 + $10 card fee? https://store.colesprepaidcards.com.au/store/reloadable
    - If I buy this card with $10 load + $10 card fee, would I still be able to load upto $1000 using multiple vpay cards without incurring any cash advance fee?

    Many thanks.

    • Don't think you can buy in-store. I bought online.
You can load between $10 to $100 plus +10 card fee. The first load can be paid by credit card.
According to discussions in this thread Yes. I'm waiting to receive my Reloadable MC in the mail so i can give it a try.

  • Has anyone seen vpay cards in Perth?
It seems they took them off the shelves

  • Anyone is able to buy VPay from HN lately?

  • Has anyone got the cashback from buying at Harvey Norman in multiple transactions (over several days) totaling 300$?

    • +1

If you are talking about multiple transactions of actual goods then yes. The deal specifically allows multiple transactions to build up to the $300 trigger point.

  • +3

I bought a $300 VPay GC from HN Gordon last Wednesday using a CBA Amex card.

Received the $100 credit on my statement today.

    • oh well ozbargained now ?

  • +3

HN are a bunch of scum.

I was questioned why I was buying a gift card (lol) - I said, "well you do realise it's around christmas time where people generally give gifts or the like"

    • +1

And it's really none of their business anyway..

I mean if it's small talk that's different.

  • Just came back from Harvey Norman Broadway in Sydney, was told that I can't buy gift card with Amex…

I think the instruction came from the headquarter, could be nation wide then?

    • Does VISA work? rofl

      What a joke

      • Visa would be okay apparently, lol

        • Dont forget mastercard!!!! And Diners?? LOLOOLOL Stupid Gerry Harvey

        • @Turd: To be fair I don't think Diner's being rejected would be unusual

But the fact that they say you can't use AMEX for gift cards is really dumb…

What if you wanted to buy it because you genuinely wanted to buy it, or if you hadn't even enrolled for the offer? It's a product they sell and you're paying with legal tender.

        • @illumination: Credit cards aren't legal tender. The money you use to pay off your credit cards is.

        • @puffinfresh:

          Legal form of payment then?

        • @illumination: There's nothing saying they have to accept it

        • @puffinfresh: I agree

So although it sounds stupid, I don't think they're doing anything that they're not allowed to do. i.e. I think they are within their rights to refuse to accept AMEX

I do wonder what they would say if you questioned them on it though

        • +1
    • Read comments above, Broadway is the store to avoid

      • Looks like it, should've read comments before I wasted my entire lunch time!

    • They were hopeless. While there were more staff than customers, they couldn't careless about me who was ready buy (ipad) and one staff was chit chatting (and definitely saw me) when I was standing right next to him. I had to walk to another side of their store to get a girl who seemed to be the only one that did the work in that store. While sorting out my order, she had to answer the phone, answer other customers' questions etc. She ended up yelling 'Where is everybody!' lol I could have got out of the store 15 mins earlier if other staff had done their job.

Then when paying, they said I can split payment but only one Amex allowed. The manager hasn't been happy about Amex. Thankfully he wasn't there when I bought and after telling them to cancel one guy came in and told the register girl it was ok and she could tell the manage he allowed it. My invoice note says "Authorized by his name" lol Hope he was not in trouble.

      • What a joke, which store is this one, Broadway?

        • Yup Broadway!

  • sorry if its covered, does the credit just go straight back onto your credit card?

    Cheers

    • Yes, usually a few business days after the transaction is confirmed.

  • +1

I bought an item for $199 with an Amex card and planning to order an eGift card for $105 online.

I have seen comments that HN online department has cancelled Gift card orders of $300 denomination.

Anyone had luck with lower denominations like $100 ?

  • Anyone has been able to buy a gift card online or instore lately?
Yet to use my amex cards. Just wondering if it's still possible…

  • +1

I just bought gift cards at Fyshwick Canberra store, they had no probs splitting a $600 and $900 card across 5 Amex's, tho they warned it wasn't covered under the offer as per sign. Still got 5 emails right after tho!

  • Just purchased $105 Gift cards online
Spent $199 on a previous order, totaling $303. Received Amex email.
Received 'Order under Review' e-mail from HN

    • Thanks SPK for letting us know re ur purchased of egift card. Please let us know HN ’s final decision. HN cannot look outside the box, the HN gift card will be spending in HN. No business brain

      • Yes but previously it was reported that $300 gift card orders were cancelled.

I received order confirmation and also the eGift cards.

You may try ordering 3 X $100 gift cards

        • Thanks SPK. U mentioned “order under review” as well. Does it mean after they reviewed then they approved it.

        • @Purple: that's correct
all online orders will be go through review before they are confirmed

        • Did you get the $100 cash back?

        • @proudwanderer: it takes up to 5 businesses days for the credits to appear

  • is the $100 cashback with HN still valid??

    • +1

It's still valid yes but what exactly are you asking?

If you've already enrolled, the expiry is the same for everyone which is 30 December 2016

If you haven't enrolled yet, then you can't enroll anymore because the maximum number of enrollments have already been made. But the deal itself is still valid

  • Not sure if this has been asked before, can you use vPay to pay your Amex statement?

    • I don't think you can pay a credit card with a credit card

      • You probably can, but you should expect it to show up on the "paying" card as a cash advance, not a purchase.

That said, VPAY is more like a virtual debit card than a virtual credit card, so it would probably work. Certainly I was able to load up my Coles Mastercard with three separate VPAY vouchers.

  • I went to HN QV and one of the staff telling me buying gift card with Amex card will not be able to load on the gift card while other purchase would have no problem. What a lot of bs! I really don't understand why don't they just make it easy for customer essentially the same amount gonna be spend with Harvey Norman. Otherwise ppl will be purchasing from other store but not them anyway! What r they thinking!

    • What gift card was you trying to buy? HN?

  • Last night bought online a HN $100 eCard. Got the "currently being reviewed" email from HN.

Today got email to say "after careful review, we have decided to not accept your order."

I have only bought a $300 VPay voucher instore with a different card but under the same name.

    Has anyone had better luck?

Anyone know of a Sydney HN store still allowing purchase of GC using Amex card?

    • Harvey Norman Wiley Park still does Gift cards. They do advise you that you won't receive the credits, just ignore.

      • Thanks for the tip. Will try tomorrow before it is ozbargained :)

    • I don't think they would have been able to link these two purchases together.

Based on other comments it just sounds like they're being very anal about gift cards purchases made online as they have time to "audit" that. For in-store purchases, it seems like it's sort of down to luck as to who serves you in which store. But AFAIK, they can dish out the warning all they want but it seems like you're likely to still get the credit.

  • I have loaded 3 vpay vouchers to my Coles reloadable MasterCard. Worked a treat . I did it over a period of about about a week on different days . I tried to load my 4th and last vpay voucher onto my Coles reloadable MasterCard and got the message invalid transaction . Anyone else had this problem??

    • The default credit limit is $1,000 on the Coles Reloadable Mastercard. You need to increase the credit limit.

      • I have used the card since . So my current balance was about $500 before loading the last vpay voucher . I am wondering if Coles reloadable mastercard have stopped accepting vpay at a valid payment method . I just used the vpay voucher to pay for an electricity bill instead . I am just more interested to know the impact of using vpay and reloadable MasterCard for the future .

        • I tried to use vpay at around 12am on 30nov .

    • How did you load in it? Did you put your own name as the Name on Card when you load?

I tried loading and I keep getting transaction declined
