I need a new MYOB to upgrade my dinosaur 10.5 but there are so many different ones these days I don't know what one I need

I've been using this for a couple of years.

    • Free
    • OZ Developer
    • Did I say free?

    https://www.manager.io/

    • Thanks, will give it a try.

Do you use the payroll management module? Any good?

    • I've used it a couple of years ago, it was decent back then, must be a lot better now.
Only left as it didn't have what was required at the time. Might look at it again if another accounting program is needed.

@GaelicAU Is there anything you need that this program doesn't support?

      Cheers.

I am a sole trader so use only basic invoice / expenses type features. I started using this about five years ago so to concur with your comment above, it was good then so is no doubt much more powerful / extendable now.

    • Thanks for this. I wish there was a free cloud based software but nothing in life is free!

      • +1

Not exactly cloud based, but I saved my data files in my Dropbox folder, and installed a copy of Manager my desktop and also on my laptop.

      • You could alternatively rent an afforable VPS, install Manager and RDP / VNC in.

      • Here's a free cloud based option http://www.freeaccountingsoftware.com.au/

It is SBR compliant (Standard Business Reporting) so you can lodge BAS and annual tax returns directly online.

  • Quickbooks does most of this for cheaper.

    • doubt its cheaper for a standalone software

      • You're right, but how many updates/support and for how long will you receive with this standalone software?

You guys might need to try https://www.waveapps.com. It's completely free for Accounting and Invoicing.

    • What are it's paid services then?

        1. pay as you go model for receiving payments https://www.waveapps.com/payments/
        2. Payroll starts with $14 p.m with 1 employee and there after $4 per employee for first 10 and $2 thereafter https://www.waveapps.com/payroll/
        • Just to clarify p.m denote Per Month right ? a company of 10~15 staffs (5 full timer & 10 contractors)
          1st $14
          2nd-10th 9 x $4
          11-15th 5 x $2
          a month is $60 a year is $720.

Payroll is not cheap at all.

  • Is it turning into pay per month or is it a standalone software?

    • I was considering buying this myob package this week for a new small business I've started.. $254 was cheapest I found so $99 is better. But are readers saying the same functionality is available for free?
