    JV: PRICE IN TITLE

LOL unlimited shaped speed is 64kbps…. Only valid for 7 days after activation? How does that work?
    Ok price for $10 btw.

  • Excellent! My NZ trip is coming. Until last night, I was still searching for the operators in NZ.

    • I used this for a recent 2-week NZ trip: http://www.datago.co/nz-info.html $49 for 3GB
My partner picked up a Vodaphone sim at the airport, that worked Ok too.

      • Thanks mate. I was thinking is there any plans around $15 for 500MB or 1GB, just the data, txt or calls is not neccessary, considering I might spend most of the time on driving : ( .

  • Pre-activated - data expires 7 days after activation… Not particularly useful then.

It's pretty easy to get a 3GB data plan sim card at arrival or at numerous stores all over Thailand. And they install it in your phone and check it's all working. There are 3 different booths at arrivals in Suvarnabhumi, and various booths stores at all other international airports there, pick the one with the shortest queue.

Not sure about the others, but dtac/Happy have very easy online top-up facilities too, or just about every convenience store (7-11 etc) can do top-ups.

All Thai sims are now supposed to be registered with photo id, not sure how this is circumvented in this offer.

  • How much would this cost if I just buy it at the airport on touchdown?

I was just in Thailand, the standard 7 day tourist SIM is 300 THB (so around $11) from the counters at the airport for all three major providers there. Most of those providers include 4GB data at full speed. The counter we bought it from was super efficient and the girl at the counter had it activated and running in under 2 minutes. This is no deal.

    • Are these counters 24x7 ?

I land in Bangkok at 1:10am (Emirates out of Sydney) - wondering if the pretty girl will still be selling when I arrive.

      • Not sure about 24x7 but if there are passengers arriving they will be open, you'll probably get a pretty guy at that time though. :-)

        • If I was heading to Pattaya, that is for sure at that time - I am open minded but the pretty guys are not for me - but I don't have any issue with other people doing it if it rings their bell.

I am just crashing the night in an airport hotel in Bangkok before going into far northeastern Thailand for a while.

  • I was in Thailand last month. 350 baht (~$14) for 2.5gb data and 100 baht of calls (probably equates to around 10 mins local calls) which was valid for 30 days, from a counter at the airport with the provider True Move.
After a few calls to hotels and such, had no problems topping up just the calls credit at 7-11.

  • ive been to thailand a few times and cant read thai, but all the agents i bought off do throw the term around unlimited all the time,

    so be careful everyone,

if you look at it carefully, you can make it out that its full speed for 1-2gb and after that its shaped, but doesnt say what speed,

I got caught out a few times

  • just so everyone is aware, AIS recharge/top ups is no longer available at 7/11
