Alarm Chirp (Activate or to Deactivate)

Hi,

I recently installed a house alarm with wireless key; When I arm/disarm the alarm, the external speaker/screamer is chirping.

What do you think of this? should I just deactivate it, to ensure no one knows when I'm entering/leaving the house?

Leave the chirp on, no one would notice as it's too insignificant

Turn off the chirp, as it takes too much attention for neighbour/potential burglar

Option 3 - leave the chirp off because it's annoying to your neighbours.

  • Turn it off. It's like the boy who cried wolf. Whilst it's only a chirp and not the full alarm, if people hear it chirping several times a day, they might not take any notice when a burglar sets it off for real.

  • The only reason for the chirp is so that you know the alarm has recognised you have armed/disarmed using the remote.

Often the chirp is accompanied with a flash of the strobe.

Disable the chirp if you can see the strobe as it otherwise serves no purpose than to annoy your neighbours.

  • Thanks guys, do you know whether this chirp can be 'moved' to internal screamer? the installer that I'm dealing with said cannot :(

    Should I find another installer?

Ps: the alarm model is Hills R8
