I think the owner of this site knows how to post a title..

      Receiving negs on his behalf.

Any news if there will be upcoming X1 Yoga deals? I missed out on the i7/8GB the other week.

I'm holding out waiting for the 10 year ozbargain week + black friday + xmas deals in hope it comes down to that price again.

^This - even better if with OLED!

    • ^ I'm with you mate. Let me know if you come across this!

      • As per ichimoku's link below

        http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/X1-…

Deal is the best it's been ever.

I bought one spec'd out in the following way -

        i7 6600U 3.4GHz (+$100.01)
        3 year warranty (+$214.50)

Final price came to $1917.53 (including 7.5% cash rewards cashback).

        Sweet deal. i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 4G LTE.

        • When I click on the link posted the base price $3,099.
How did you add the options and end up with a final price of $1,917.53?

I want the same setup you have.

        • @cdkdang:

It's no longer valid. There was a code 'FLASHSALE" for a 24 hour flash sale yesterday for singles day 11/11.

Browse ozBargain and it will probably drop down to aroudn this same price in another months time.

      • LEGEND! Laptop bought :-D

  • How does this compare to the XPS 13?

    • +1

better built, not as fancy look. I will take x1 as it is more business quality. Xps is more consumer orientated.

  • Any X1 Carbon users - could you advice build quality and general performance of these laptops please?

    • +2

Comes complete with Lenovo bloatware and very annoying joystick set into keyboard;)

      • Thanks blibster. I did read some reviews about bloatware. But I thought the keyboard was otherwise good (minus the joystick)- is that your experience too? do you reckon it is otherwise of a decent build quality?

        • If I bought one of these, I would format it straight away. Since Windows activation is linked to your Microsoft account, you can just download the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft and load it up.

        • +1

          @leftspeaker2000: Thanks leftspeaker2000.

        • @asehgal: As for the build quality though, these had the reputation as the gold stand for Windows machines. At least for business. They are said to have some of the best, if not the best, keyboards on any laptop.

        • @leftspeaker2000: my understanding was this is only true if you're on the anniversary edition (1607?) of Windows 10 details here
I tried leveraging the activation tied to my MS account, and had issues until I "upgraded" to this

          hope it helps

      • What does Lenovo pre-loading it with software have to do with the device's performance/quality?

      • +13

very annoying joystick set into keyboard

Hehe. That's exactly the reason why some of us are still buying ThinkPads.

        • +1

          Nipple mouse FTW!

        • @ebosh: I believe the 'real' enterprising term is TrackPoint ^_~

      • If you use The joystick too much, sometimes the mouse cursor will randomly move itself to the opposite direction 180 degrees.

    • X1Carbons are built like tanks, there's videos of people dropping them 20 ft, pouring wine all over the keyboard, etc. They're amazing machines.

Not sure about the performance, but expect around half the total performance of a desktop i5, as it's using a U-series ultra low power CPU.

      • Thanks Droidyy. Some reviews I have read are suggesting to better buy T460S - so trying to assess which one to go for.

        • It depends on your needs. If you want something light and highly transportable (e.g. do a lot of public transport/interstate travel) The X1's are beyond fantastic.

They are an ultra premium high end computer. I will say though that the touch screen on the X1 Yoga is fantastic. Try find a distributor where you can try it out if possible. I was extremity keen on getting another X1 until I tried out the Yoga.

        • @Powershopz: Though travel is not that much and hence puzzle over if I should instead opt for T460S or this one. Lenovo rep on 1300 number can offer better deal - just sharing in case anyone else is interested too.

        • @asehgal: fyi i got my t460s a few weeks ago and it is extremely light and portable. keyboard is fantastic. no complaints so far

        • @harro112: Were there any reasons that you opted for T460S? Just will help me in making my decision.

        • T460S is a tiny bit heavier & does not have the carbon fibre / super magnesium chase of X1 Carbon. However

          • SO-DIMM slot & M2 SSD slot for easy upgrades
          • Removable battery
          • Cheaper

Personally I will go with T460S.

        • @scotty: I am being offered same price by Lenovo with same specs for both X1Carbon 4 Gen and T460S and hence my confusion.

        • @asehgal: T460s has certainly been cheaper before. See this deal.

        • @scotty: I agree that T460S has been at that price but I have been offered that same price for X1Carbon and precisely the reason I am tossing which one to go for.

        • @asehgal: $1279 for X1 Carbon? Then I'll take that :)

        • @scotty: Thanks for helping - yes $1279

        • @asehgal: Was that through telesales?

        • @Jules66: Yes

        • @asehgal: did that price include the free screen?

        • @blahhhhh: No - just the laptop

        • @asehgal: If you don't mind me asking, how did you manage to get it that low? Were you comparing the t460s to the x1? Reason I ask is that I just called telesales and they wouldn't go that low (but I mentioned this thread as opposed to a comparison or discount request).

        • @Jules66: Basically I called the 1300 number and asked for combination of discounts (Ozbargain, Whirlpool Forums, Student) and as you know depending on the deal of the day, they offered me the quote. I'd say keep watching the price as it does come down very frequently and then you can score the deal. For example I just saw someone posted on whirlpool forums their deal of today - https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2501601&…

        • Is the i7 and ssd upgrade plus 2 screens worth an extra $530?

        • @blahhhhh: from my personal preference - i5 to i7 is minimal performance increase and having 2 screens for me is useless.

        • @asehgal:

Yep, ordered mine today, used the good ol' whirlpool discount combined with scottys code for a free monitor for all them sweet stacking discounts. I didnt bother mentioning student since the discounts online for students are pretty average and I didnt think it'd be any better than the whirlpool one. Should I have?

        • @cheesecactus: I was told the same that no point asking for student discount as that will benefit you little.

        • @asehgal:

Sweet, phew, for a second there thought i missed the opportunity to stack even more discounts on top of each other!

        • @asehgal: Have you got the x1 carbon for $1279 at the end? I phoned telesale today and they wouldn't do that price unless I could provide the invoice number with that price.

        • @DW: I had that deal via tele sale on the day that they combined e-coupon discount + I asked for Whirlpool Forum discount. I could not buy the piece as it was meant to be for my son who was in the middle of his final exams and by the time he reverted - the deal was gone. I was told that such deals are pretty often - so we need to keep an eye out.

        • @asehgal: Thanks mate. hopefully the deal could be up soon.

        • @DW: Plus don't forget to ask for Whirlpool Forum discount - I think this is the key element of getting a discount that you will otherwise get.

        • @asehgal: What is the Whirlpool Forum discount btw? Is there a code or anything? Thanks

        • @DW: It is just an online Forum https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/ where people discuss issues including notebooks and much more. It was by accident that I read that if you throw in a name that you follow Whirlpool Forum - it gets you a higher discount because the Forum is well respected and Lenovo values it. There is no other code or anything that you need to provide - it is an online Forum and anyone can follow.

        • @asehgal: Cool. will try that when contacting them next time. Thanks for that mate.

        • @DW: Keep me posted how you go as I am also keen on this one.

        • @asehgal: No worries mate. I will contact them when the X1 is on sale again. Currently the X1 cyber monday sale has finished and the price is back to $1999 for the base model.

Had a Carbon X1 for two years. i7-4600U 2nd Gen with 2560x1440. Got the exceedingly irritating LCD Function keybar at the top of the keyboard, which is the biggest gripe but doesn't apply to this 4th gen model.

      Issues with the laptop itself

      • USB seems to be a bit unstable
      • Onboard graphics cannot handle a second screen very well, don't know how this is addressed in the 4th Gen. Do not get the two additional screens in this deal and expect this laptop to power them and the built in display.

      Other issues, slightly related

      • Many problems relating to the OneLink Doc, which they sorted by replacing the Doc.
      • The Lenovo add-on wireless keyboard and mouse are crap
      • bit of bloatwear, but have managed to remove most of it.

Other than that it's been a pretty good machine, travels very well (have taken over 100 flights) with the lightweight and slim design. Looks the goods in a business setting and gives me the right image in front of customers.
My next laptop will have USB-C and an external graphics powering the screen. Why I'm leaning towards skipping this deal.

      • Thanks. Also heard that LG screens are better - is that something you noticed too?

        • Not sure what you mean about the LG screens? Is that the screens they're using in the laptops, because I have no idea.

Should have also mentioned, there are a couple of bright pixel spots on the display now. But I'm attributing those to all the travelling and my treatment of the laptop.

        • @ChickenTalon: Yes read that LG screens on the laptop were considered better - but I have no idea how to know which one you will get.

    • Gen 3 user here. Best keyboard I've tried on a laptop. 1440p nontouch is a pain in the arse with Win10 scaling.
Performance and battery life is adequate for programming ~3hours. Never tried surfing and doing word docs for 7-8 hours which is claimed battery life.

Overall great laptop, extremely light, survived quite a few drops.

      • Battery life is easily 6+ hours on mine when just doing basic tasks; word etc

Whoa, those monitors are an awesome sweetener. Good deal.

  • Is Lenovo having a singles' day sale? Would these stack on top or do they end before it starts?

  • Gee this is tempting. But i think I will hold out and continue using my Gen 2 Lenovo X1 Carbon - still going strong.

  • what happened to the supposed 50% off sale to ozbargainers this week?

    • I only heard about it on OzBargain but not from my Lenovo contact… It's probably in conjunction to Singles Day rather than the OzBargain10 birthday celebration event.

  • If you also upgrade to a WQHD screen from FHD, will they give anything else as an extra (assuming you also upgrade CPU to i7 6500U and a 256SSD)?

Very interested as the XPS 13 9350 coil whine issue is getting quite annoying…

Edit: I swear that I was able to upgrade RAM to 16GB as well… but not anymore?

    • +1

16GB RAM is only available with the i7-6600U.

      • Thanks for that, I knew I saw it somewhere!

  • Lenovo thanks Scotty for driving so much business to them.

  • Hey Scotty, reeeeal interested in this. Any discounts on an extended on-site warranty?

A 1 year warranty always makes me uncomfortable

Edit: Also not sure if I should wait a bit since I dont really need a monitor, plus I dont need the laptop for another 3 months or so…….Gonna hope some more hectic deals appear soon :)

    • Yes Singles Day Deal tomorrow — might have some real bargains. Also OzBargain10 event which Lenovo said they will participate. I have also asked Dell (to get some competition going) but haven't heard anything back…

      • Awesome, will have to check back tomorrow :)

      • Didn't their singles dale sale kickoff already? They seem to be mentioning it on their website?

      • nice

    • 1 year is stated, but you always have the Australian Consumer Guarantee to fall back on. I reminded them of this when they told me my OneLink Pro dock was not covered 20 months after purchase. Also helps to remind them that misrepresenting the rights of a consumer is an offence under the ACL too.

      • Yeah but I dont like the extra hassle that goes with that :/

I'd happily pay an extra $300 or so for a couple years more of warranty. But most of the prices I can find online seem to be pretty high for lenovo. Dell is pretty reasonable in that regard.

  • Alternatively you can also use Lenovo's online chat to order

I tried using online chat to order but they said they don't have the option to add free monitors

  • Looks like Lenovo wanted to skip Cashrewards :)

    • +1

And get rid of 23" monitors…

      • They were getting rid of them last month too. $1 with your order for a monitor. They must have bulk stock of them.

  • You may also consider the Yoga 460 QHD going for $1111 with the FLASHSALE coupon for 11/Nov only, and if looking for a nice dock, the onelink+ dock is still available for a 20% discount with the LENOVO20 coupon.

Note that in the Yoga 460, the RAM (single slot SO-DIMM DDR3L), 2.5 inch SSD/HDD as well as M.2 2242 SSD are user accessible and simple to upgrade.

    Yoga 460

    dock
    http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/accessories/docking/onelink-doc…

    • I don't understand how getting a 14" laptop with a QHD is a good idea.

      • Its probably good for photoshop? Anyhow, I prefer the FHD model personally, for better battery life.

  • Annnnd purchased!

Got the i5 X1 carbon with a 256gb ssd upgrade + Free monitor (thanks scotty) + the X1 ultra sleeve for $1580

Regarding extended warranties their systems only allow you to go up to 3 years, but if you buy the laptop, THEN call them up with the serial number you can get up to 5yrs nbd warranty (what i'm going to do).

    • Can you still ask for further discount during telesales call? Thanks!

      • +1

Yep! Nothing hectic, but still a bit of room.

        • Thanks!

    • Was the monitor billed as $0 or taken off the laptop price? can't really get trs on a monitor…

      • It was billed as $100 and then they took $100 off the laptop price.

        • Hi cheesecactus, may I know which salesperson you spoken to? Thanks

  • Anyone who paid with card over the phone receive a confirmation email with Direct Deposit listed as payment option?

Order status says "Your action is needed to remove your order out of process hold due to credit block".

I called and asked, got put through to their billing team, and they said just to wait.

    • Ordered over the phone 4.5 hours ago and no confirmation yet…

      • +1

No email at all? I got 2 emails about 5mins after ordering, a thanks for ordering and a confirmation of order.

But i've heard people usually have to wait several hours/days to hear anything (like you).

If they gave you your order number over the phone you can check the status here: www.lenovo.com/AustraliaOrderStatus

    • Update: Phone rep apparently had a problem with putting my card details through, so processed it as a direct debit, then did it manually. So all good now :)
