Looking for a business small desktop? These ThinkCentre M73 are on-sale. Not exactly tiny but good value with the package. 240W PSU so you can't really convert them into high power gaming PC either so the i3 model would be good enough for most everyday office tasks.

  • 8GB DDR3
  • 1TB 7200RPM

  • Core i3-4160 $449, Core i5-4460 $599, Core i7-4790 $749 after coupon code DEALS

Be aware these machines are 3 generations old, if that means anything to you

You are right… However Kaby Lake doesn't have desktop CPU yet, and an equivalent Skylake (i3-6100 for example) is less than 10℅ faster in PassMark. Skylake does have much better IGA though.

      • I think now Intel is pretty much turning themselves into marketing for energy saving.

I am now using Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 - it's an OZB deal from eBay last year. I bought 2 of these machines (4G/i3-4330/DVD-ROM/~200W PSU) - one for my daily work at home and I upgraded the CPU to E3-1245V3 for another machine running ESXi lab. Well, I upgraded the RAM and SSD but I think it's common practice at this stage.

I must say my i3-4330 is still going strong and I barely feel any lags for my daily works. I do a bit graphic design and light programming using Visual Studio and they are all good. The HD4600 works really well with 2 screens (1 x FULL HD + 1 x LG ULTRA WIDE monior).

I have another 2 machines with much better config (one with Z97 + E3-1231V3 and old Z68 + i7-2600 for another) but I mostly leave those machines to my family members.

I was thinking an upgrade to have a taste of new Skylake but I don't think that's necessary. All of my machines, including those 2 Lenovo TS140, are all equipped with 80Plus PSU and I think it's good enough in terms of power saving.

Can get Core i5-4460 for $504 rather than $599, just add i5 upgrade option (+$55) when buying a i3-4160 ($449).

  • Thanks, I wish they sold laptops at this prices. Their laptop deals are ridiculously expensive.

  • Man i have not seen a desktop computer in years and i work for an IT company.

    • Larger corporate customers (banks, chains, govt, etc) prefer desktops or thin clients.
