Bueno Chocolate from CoTD - Earlier Expiry Date and 30 Bars Regardless of Paying $6 or $11

i just received the bueno choc bars and they expire on 10th july instead of august. a note came with the delivery saying that they will compensate the earlier expiry date by giving away a few extra bars.
based on comments in the orignal post, regardless of whether you bought 12 or 24 bars, everyone got 30 bars so some people paid $6 for their chocolate whereas others paid $11. (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/27141)

personally I paid $11 and am now unhappy that people who paid five dollars less got the same quantity that i got. COTD should refund the five dollar difference to customers who originally bought 24 bars.

Comments

  • damn i was one of those who bought 24 bars……

  • NOT HAPPY!@ Will follow this up with admin if i get mine!

So they put up the price. It's COTD choice. Good for them that they got it for $6. You must have been happy to pay $11 for 30 bars or you wouldn't have bought it.

  • +3

id be more annoyed about the short expiry date, than others getting more for less. If you paid $6 youd be happy about getting the extra bars

    • Yea, I agree. I'd complain too about the expiry date. But not because other people unknowingly got a better bargain.

  • +4

well im annoyed that COTD is treating customers differently. if customers who bought 12 received 30, then people who bought 24 should be receiving 60. otherwise they should be refunding the $5 back because that money was spent by customers for no reason.
hopefully COTD rectify this situation as everyone who spent $11 will feel an injustice, myself included.

That's like saying if Jb hi-fi sold a ps3 for $400 one day, then they decided to drop it down to $300 the next week, then everyone who bought it on the week before should get it for $300? The might as well put it down to $300 a week earlier. They didn't because maybe they were still selling them at $400 and people were buying.

      • +6

your analogy is incorrect. it is like me buying a ps3 bundle for $400 and someone else at the same time buying just the console itself for $350. however the next day jbhifi calls the 2nd customer and states that due to some fault with the console, the bundle accessories will be free. so the first customer paying $400 will obviously be aggrieved as he also received the dodgy console but received less compensation.

the end result will be that customers end up with the same items despite paying different prices at the same date under the pretense that the extra money paid means that they will get a higher quantity.

all im saying is that COTD made a mistake by not treating their loyal customers equally, leaving everyone who paid the $11 unhappy whereas people who paid $6 will be happy.

        • Haha, I see your point..
I reckon COTD should have given those who bought 12 bars 3 extra ones

          Hi Ozzie,

Firstly - I'm really sorry about all this.

Our supplier put us in a real pickle and put stickers of the wrong expiry date on some of the first outer cartons we received.

So I had this bright idea of giving everyone EXTRA to make up for the mistake, of course alongside the regular option of a refund. This was against most others advice in the CS team. I'll be hearing quite a few "I Told You So's" tomorrow.

It turns out that some customers received a LOT EXTRA, actually not all the single box purchasers, but a few did. I'm guessing one of the 26 packers took a shortcut and just sent entire inner cartons, instead of counting out individual bars.

Here we are now. What would you like me to do?

I'm really flabbergasted with the whole thing and just want everyone to be happy.

          QQQ.

          • @QQQ - CatchOfTheDay: Ah it's not your fault, but hey, did you find out who took the shortcut?

          • @QQQ - CatchOfTheDay: QQQ, You will never make everyone happy.
You now have people who ordered 24 and get 6 free, 12 and 18 free and 12 with 6 free.
Yet to receive mine but will be happy with whatever, as thats what I paid for and thought is was worth it.
The expiry is not a worry as most choc's are fine after best before.

  • QQQ as its a very short life left on them

how about a part store credit ???

    • +1

Lol, you guys got cheap food with a little extra… And you still want more… Haha =P

    • yeah, i think to make it fair on all the customers who paid for 24, a partial store credit would be an equitable outcome

  • You guys are lucky you even got yours. On my Status it went from Payment received to processing to payment received & processing again… My payments are instant, so not sure what's going on there.

  • I paid $11. I think its a bit ridiculous that people who paid $6 got the same amount. I for one, have not received my parcel yet.
I think it would have been a much much smarter move to divide the extras equally amongst all orders. people would not have minded much. eg.
    order 6, get 12
    order 12, get 18

(or however many extra there were)

I will reply once I get my parcel.

  • will be waiting on my delivery to decide my next move in regards to COTD. hopefully they can fix this bungle,

i spent more money ($11) than another person, i feel i should be therefore compensated more than the person that only spent $6

i hope they come through with a solution

i just got the email this morning that my delivery was despached.

  • I emailed COTD asking for a $5 refund as I paid $11 for 24, and this was their reply:

Thanks for your email. I can understand where your coming from, however we are unable to facilitate a rebate on this item, however we would be happy to provide you with a full refund if you do wish to return them in whole.

Ummmmm ok? So I'd also have to pay for the postage of the package?

They don't seem to be making any effort whatsoever! And I know its only $5 but it really is a matter of principle. Pay more = get more!

    • COTD should reimburse the return postage as it wasn't buyer fault.

        fair and trading?

Like most above, I am not as concerned about the number of bars I receive, whether it be 24 or 30 but the fact that the date to expiry has been shortened by a whole month.

Not to mention the fact that some people, myself included, have not received theirs yet.

If your customers die from chocolate overdose, you won't have as many sales you know??

In all seriousness, I appreciate the kind gesture but it was a big mistake of getting the expiry date wrong IMO.

Sure I can't complain with how cheap it is, but I wouldn't buy food that I knew I wouldn't have time to eat.

    • +1

    • especially if you got others to buy the offer, or if you planned to give it to someone as a gift, hard to face embarrassment.

  • I also have not received mine!! What's going on QQQ? why some people received theirs very fast, and some VERY slow?

  • I received mine today ~ and now I got a problem of how to finish it by 10 July. I bought 24 bars for my boy's birthday party in July, and now the expiry date is earlier than the party ~~ dont think I can still give it out at the party~~ can I request a refund with free shipping?

    • havent got mine yet, the money doesnt bother me much, but the expiry date really does. IF this was more than 11 dollars, i could be actually bothered to go to the accc for misrepresentation. As it stands, you have lost a lot of the goodwill garnered on COTD from my previous experience.

QQQ re: ( Here we are now. What would you like me to do? )

    how about responding to us

that would be a good start

  • Expire is not BEST BEFORE

  • +1

Just received mine today, very happy with the cheap items, great work QQQ :) It was good to give us 6 extra bars for a months difference of best before.

…it's also fair for the $6 people to get +6 bonus bars, but to hear they got another +12 bars because One COTD staff took shortcuts… makes it unfair… in a situation of error, fairness in service should be ensured.

Maybe QQQ could give some of us a small discount code for the next COTD food/choc/candy item? that would make everyone happy and justice will be served :) end of the day, the chocolates were very cheap so we should all be grateful.

I think that's the best solution, and this will keep stable the reputation of COTD for proving great & fair service.

I received mine a few days ago, they are great but I am a little peeved that I paid $5 more than some for the same amount of bars!

  • I think COTD should give us $6 credit towards our next purchase. I'm happy with the my 6 extra bars but i do think its a little unfair still because it is one month earlier expiry

    • sorry i meant $5 credit

    • +11

Please e-mail [email protected] with your order number in the subject line if you'd like a store credit of $5.

Please don't abuse this, its for kinder customers who feel hard done by and are not satisfied with the extra.

      • Sent you an email about this, much appreciated!

I love chocolate, but 30 bars before July is just too much for me.

      • thank you

      • Thanks QQQ, kind man! I knew you wouldn't let OzB down! :)

  • Got mine and yep due date pushed forward changes some plans for what I wanted to do with them. And annoying that the people who pay less get the same. At least there giving a 5 buck store credit

  • -5

Just got my free lolly package from COTD for Socceroos beating Serbia. My Bueno Chocolate bars have best before date of July 10. Why did I not get 30 bars or least 6 extra FREE bars? Not happy COTD - do I get $5 store credit?
    Get a life people!!!

    • n you r the one that should be getting a life.

    • Hopefully I know what you're implying goyougoodthing, if so I totally agree.

    • yeah,tricky!

  • -6

I didn't purchase these bars at all, but I feel that I have been unfairly disadvantaged by not receiving the free bars. I would also like a $5 store credit as by what ozbargainers deem to be fair, my request should not seem out of the question by any standards.

    • +4

The people who got the 100% freebie multi-candy package should not get the extra bars, or anything extra for that matter. They weren't offered a deal with a claimed expiry for a price. So they haven't been disadvantaged in any way.

They were offered a freebie by COTD out of generosity if certain conditions were met. I can't believe the people who got 100% freebie from COTD can complain when they didn't pay a cent, and now ask for a store voucher.

  • did anyone receive their $5 credit yet?

    • Should be all done in the next 14 days or so.

      • so just out of curiosity hows that going…?
and since i have never had credit with CoTD before… how do we know how much credit is in our accounts?

        • Is this you QQQ
          http://www.youtube.com/user/QQQXVII?blend=2&ob=1#p/u/24/F9qZ…

the owner of COTD? just curious :)

          • @Cripto: About the credits, sorry for delay it will 100% be in your accounts on 3rd August, I'm overseas and return on 2nd.

About youtube channel - can't check it on this restricted airport terminal, will look when I return.

            QQQ.

          • @Cripto: nice find on the vid.

QQQ would be rich enough to retire since may 09 last yr already. :P

            • @[Deactivated]: hahah yeah, the COTD factory is so big.. OzB must be just one chunk of the hundred chunks of customers now that I've seen that vid

              • @Cripto: glad hes hiring more workers…they sure take a long time.

He sounds like second generation middle eastern…thats just my guess …
