    That's honestly a great bargain considering a 2TB seagate is like $90.

  • 2x 1TB drives included ? So you have to remove one (or both) to expand ?

But I agree seems a good price. Bought a 2-bay DLINK NAS recently for around $119 with no disks..

    • its 2x2tb but its sold out now

      • That would make it a 4TB NAS but it says its 2TB (supplied - not maximum which should be at least 6TB with 2x3TB)

      • After doing some research before purchasing it only includes 1x2TB drive. Deal breaker. Especially considering it's Seagate.

        • +2

1x 2TB disk (with a free slot to add an extra drive) is better than the 2x 1TB disks I assumed..

It was advertised as a 2TB NAS so of course it only comes with 2TB of storage…… what were you expecting ?

        • @systmworks: I was expecting exactly the same as you. It was mentioned above that it was 2x2tb

        • @Trewq: yeah you are correct wasn't the best
but the new deal is good anyway.

      • I'm pretty sure you only get 1 x 2TB Seagate NAS drive and you have to buy another for RAID yourself.

        • yeah im wrong

  • What's the software like? I have been thinking about going Synology for the OS system as it looks pretty good.

    • +1

this is seagate OS , synology's DSM should be more advance

    • To be honest horrible, the os software hasn't been updated in ages. The apps haven't even been updated to support OS4. Seagate's support replied to my inquiry oh we don't know when these will be updated. OS4 has been out for over 1 year and still no word on when the apps will be released

      • Yeah the first deal isn't the best

get a hp micro server for $260 fron wireless 1 , has 4 bays and you can run synology on that (xpenology)if you don't sinology, then you can free freeNAS or something else on it as it's intel based.

      • Agreed, an HP microserver running Xpenology makes a sweet, high performance, 4+ Bay NAS.

        • Hi, I have one of these Gen8, can you point to useful instructions? My 2 second squiz at the Xpenology site appears to indicate that the Gen8 isn't fully functional using Xpenology.

          Cheers

  • Thanks, ordered Seagate NAS

  • Damn, sold out as I add to cart

    • it is still available on website. but doesn't say anything about 2TB harddrive

    new deal!!!

    • +1

Why didn't you post this as a new deal and expire the last one? Now none of the comments relate to the product.

      • 1 per hour so i couldnt

  • Resolution of cameras?

    • 'High quality'

      haha nah they're 480 X 272

      • +15

yeah but if you combine all four cameras its 1,088p so its fhd

  • Thanks got one. Now questions. Does it come with storage?

  • It doesn't say comes with 2TB hard drive on JB Hi-Fi website…Can someone please help with this????

    • He revised the post. 2tb was another deal. This one comes with an 8gb SD card

  • That is just clickbait. I have already bought it now? Is it any good for price?

  • is this still a good deal if they take out 3 cameras??
    - System supports up to 4 cameras (1 included)

    • +1

You get 4 look click on details

      • ok thanks, when i clicked on description it says only 1 included.

    • 4 cameras included

    EDIT: Camera needs power source.

  • I'm guessing that those cameras don't record audio?

    • The monitor software has a volume adjustment so I'm assuming it records audio as well. Also read the review from JB and it says it records audio but not that great.

  • Is this a true wireless system like Netgear Arlo?

EDIT: doesn't look like it.. comes with AC adapters presumably for the cameras.

    • Yeah the camera need to be connected to AC.

guessing.. need to charge cameras periodically.. not sure how often.. anyone has idea on charging of these cameras?

    • +2

Dude, they each need a power source

  • Hi, anyone knows the length of the power cable of cameras?

    • It's around 3-4m

  • Ah my shop neighbour has that security camera system and its terrible.

    • Yep each camera needs to be connected to the power supply which are an odd size cable which makes them more expensive if you want an extension cable, also the voltage won't carry over a distance longer than 15m.

The image quality is not that great but if you want a easy/small scale setup with power points nearby its great.

It doesn't record audio but if you tap on a camera it brings up sounds but it's a pretty average microphone as you can mostly hear static.

  • We have these cameras and we always need to the erase SD card frequently (like every week) or it'll stop recording. Apparently it only supports up to 32g micro SDs according to its manual so that's what we've been using. Has anybody tried using a larger capacity SD and have it working?

    • From the manual, it has a Overwrite function.
Overwrite lets the system delete the oldest records in order to record new records when the microSD card is full.

      • We have this set. I use a 32Gb card. I need to erase the card once a month.
The override function (for me) doesn't seem to record all the time, it will have days with nothing recorded.

I find this set ok for a basic security function. Also bought a set for my parents, they mainly use it to see who's at the door, lol.

  • If you need to extend the power cables for the cameras the power cable plugs are: 3.5x1.35mm DC Power (quite small and not very common), therefore get a converter plug to 5.5 x 2.1 and then run a normal 5.5 x 2.1 DC power lead.

  • link died ??? lol
