    Vodafail have a 12gig plan for $40/month - if you're into Voda

    • Reception of Vodafone is worse than Optus in rural areas tho.

  • Is there a higher/more data BYO plan? Seems like this $45 plan gives you the most.
I was hoping to cancel my mobile broadband (for work) that I have and consolidate my plans.

  • +1 to Vodafone. Much Cheaper in the first place. Optus has terrible data metering system in my experience. Better speeds in Brisbane north where I live. Also I couldn't get student discount with Optus because my institution didn't join Unidays, but had no problem getting student discount with Voda. Though student discount only applies to plans $50 and up, I ended up signing up for 15GB for $45 yesterday. Also they have unlimited data first month which is sweet.
The only downside is they also automatically top-up data($10/GB) when you run out.

  • I'm currently on this for $40/month, plus there was this deal recently for $35/month so I wouldn't really consider this a bargain price.

EDIT: Whoops noticed it was for 12GB. Decent then.

  • Do you get the streaming music free on Voda?

The Virgin deal does and they use Optus network.

      • Is it the full Optus network? What's the difference between going with Virgin, do you miss out on anything for not going with Optus directly?

No difference, same Network. Virgin even rollover unused data for one month into the following month. I don't think Optus does that.
