  • i just need a brush that can get up behind my wisdom teeth, can this do that?

My standard non battery rectanular brush is too big.

    • +1

Well, even the cheaper ones can.

      • +1

        which one?

i thought this one might because its "The best toothbrush ever from the #1 Dentist recommended brand worldwide"

        • As in cheaper Oral-B brushes. Like the Oral-B 700.

        • +1

They only say it is what dentists recommend because Oral B give them to graduating dentists…and Oral B have corporate gifts and 'education' days with big discounts for dentists. Dodgy as sin

        • @MonocleMoose: why is everyone so corrupt :o

  • +1

    UK plug?

  • 269 in the shavershop .. and cannot complain about it not being Lithium Ion.

    • What's the difference between Lithium Ion battery and the normal Lithium batteries in their older model toothbrush. I do like how you can now charge it inside the case.

      • The older ones were not lithium batteries, they were NiCd batteries.

        • And the difference between the two being?

        • +1

@nightelves: just the idea of using nicad is a problem for some.

        • @hippyhippy:

Oh right. Would have thought that changing from one battery type to the other would improve usage time.

        • +4

          @nightelves:
NiCd/NiMH vs Lithium = Lithium has MUCH higher capacity, and longevity.
There's a reason why smartphones and most modern electronics all use Lithium batteries

        • @cwongtech:

Bingo! That's the answer I wanted to know. Thanks!

No it doesn't, it depends on the application.

How does a smartphone have anything to do with a toothbrush that is charged after every use?

        • +1

          @Maverick-au:
This product is clearly travel orientated, with a portable charger case. Higher energy density of lithium cells here would translate into a lighter package.

Please sell NiCD batteries to us, and its "benefits" apart from being cheaper.

Wait so toothbrushes are all clearly travel orientated according to your logic? The weight difference between a lithium battery and it's associated COMPLEX charging circuitry vs a NiMH with basic charging circuit is what exactly? A few grams?

Please sell NiCD batteries to us, and its "benefits" apart from being cheaper.

Different applications call for different technologies, you seem to be under the false idea that lithium is better for every application.

No but a travel case that can charge the toothbrush on the go is clearly travel orientated.

Can you provide an example when nickel cadium batteries ever better?

        • @cwongtech:

Can you provide an example when nickel cadium batteries ever better?

There are many different types of battery technologies in use and contrary to your claims Li-Ion is not the be all and end all of battery technology and it's not suitable for many applications.

          • Li-Ion batteries have issues with thermal runaway if they are overheated or overcharged which NiCd and NiMH do not suffer from.
          • NiCd is still used for medical devices and some emergency lighting for example, getting over 1000 cycles is not unusual.
          • NiMH are very robust.

There are many differences between the three different batteries and they need to be matched to an application not the other way around.

The point is that claiming that Li-Ion is the best for every application is pointless, every different product has different power requirements and the engineers know what they are doing. There are a lot of poor quality batteries out there and for NiMH and NiCd it makes little difference but the cheap Li-Ions can be deadly.

  • Which one is better? The Philips sonicare diamond clean or this one? Price are on par here locally around aud 270 to 300.

    • There some reviews under this link: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/home-appliances/1405326/best-…
I would suggest, however, going to Amazon and reading the reviews of users. Hopefully, this will help you to decide which of these electric tooth brushes is the right one for you.

    • Had the oral-b before. I must say the diamond is a better choice. That's my own opinion though.

      • Could you elaborate why please? I'm trying to compare the 2.thanks

        • A study in 1997 says sonic is cleaner, other studies showed oral-b style is same or little better.

          End of the day, it comes down to feel;
          - Small rotating head
          - Long back and forth head

  • Good price, but does it come with a 12 month warranty? Who pays for shipping it back and how much?

  • +1

With these Oral B brushes, I previously found that mid-spec models essentially had the same brush motor (oscillations) and battery as the high-end models.

Can anyone tell me if there is a mid-spec model now with motor/battery comparable to this 9000 model? The Oral B website used to let you compare quite easily but it appears they've removed that handy bit of info.

    • my personal experience i got better results with diamond clean and found it easier and faster to use because it uses the default brush head design rather than the circular one so you can go through all your teeth pretty quickly and goes to hard to reach areas.

If you also go to amazon reviews diamondclean has better overall reviews and i can attest to it.

    Thanks, OP.

I was at the dentist today, and she told me that my wife and I should use a top end electric toothbrush that nags me (long story)!

Just bought 2 of these for A$328.05 delivered, which as better than $269 each on special at the Shaver Shop.

    • So did I - got two of them.

      • What are you guys doing about the UK plug that it comes with for the travel case? Just gonna use an adaptor?

        • Adaptors are cheap, and I use them lots.

      • OP: what does the plug to the case/charger look like? Is it the normal 8 style 2 pin plug? I would just rather eBay a whole cable than worry about an adapter :/

  • Still no dual voltage… Come on Oral-B! No big deal if you don't travel a lot but if you go to for example USA you wont be able to charge it without a transformer…

    • +2

This model supports dual voltage through the travel case, looked at it before I bought it last night. I was going to post this deal after purchasing for ‎£91.66 at about midnight last night. This and a pack of each below cost me £129.69 delivered

      The replacement brushes are a reasonable price;

8 times cross action £16.66 after £3 voucher on product page link; https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00K2UAXEQ/ref=pe_385721_3798687…

      and

4 times 3D white £9.48 after £2 voucher on product page link; https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003U9V7P0/ref=pe_385721_3798687…

      • Thanks for this - I have included an additional info about the replacement heads in the product description.

  • so the holder doubles as a battery pack to charge other gadgets. cant seem to find the capacity of the battery? can anyone tell?
    Thanks

    • so the holder doubles as a battery pack to charge other gadgets. cant seem to find the capacity of the battery? can anyone tell?

No the holder doesn't double as a battery pack. It has a power supply that you plug into the base of the holder e and it has a USB Type A output that you can plug another product into like your smartphone so it can charge two products at once.

  • I paid $131.60 at Shaver Shop Ebay + 1.25% cash back through CR. This is not a good deal IMO

Edit: never mind, mine was the 7000 series so slightly different model: http://www.shavershop.com.au/online-store/oral-care/electric…

  • Arrived today, one week from order to delivery from the UK to Adelaide.

    Initial impressions are great.

    Thanks lots, OP.

  • Wonder if I can use my charging base from my 500 model.?
Also wondering if I can use the charger from my braun shaver.
    Both have Aussie plugs

  • Has anyone tried the Foreo Issa electronic toothbrushes: https://www.foreo.com/issa?id=1227

Seems like the next generation of electronic toothbrushes in the same price range of the high end Oral-B's
    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1…

    • Looks weird haha. Any idea on price for brush heads?

      • +1

        Around USD20

    • I really wanted to love the ISSA. The electric toothbrush is long overdue for a facelift and the use of antibacterial silicone bristles really sounded amazing.

Unfortunately there are small design flaws across the entire toothbrush. And then there is the brushing experience. I am able to forgive poor design if a product at least performs its basic function effectively. But the ISSA just isn’t quite ready to replace your traditional bristled brush. Not just yet.

While the Hybrid brush head performed a lot better it only cements the point that as of right now, fine bristles work better than thicker silicone ones.

Still, the ISSA offered small glimmers of hope that make me really excited for the future of toothbrushes. But before that can happen there are a lot of creases to be ironed out before silicone bristles are ready to go toe to toe with Nylon

Started off looking at Sonicare heads and stumbled on this.
