The Canon M3 is not the best mirrorless around, but it generally gets much better ratings than this Nikon, which is possibly the worst mirrorless around.

I think I would rather buy a M3 + 18-55mm + second lens and get the 20% off + double cashback. Possibly get a deal with the 55-200mm (or 22mm) for around $580 (after cashback) and then sell the longer lens on Gumtree for around $250, bringing the basic M3 + standard lens in for around $100 less than this Nikon ?

    • agreed nikkon j1 is not a good camera compared to other mirrorless

    • This Canon M3 triple lens kit is a decent buy http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122235384452

Works out to be $560 after eBay discount and cash back. Can make some decent money selling off a couple of the lenses too.

  • wow, that is a huge drop in price. it was ~$850 when I saw it instore on monday

  • But its $471 through Camera Pro on ebay, and they are on the authorised 50 cash back list too. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nikon-1-J5-Mirrorless-Digital-Cam…

Worth keeping in mind that Nikon has officially killed off the 1 mirrorless camera line.

I recently bought this camera and it's awesome. Unless something has changed in the past week, it's not officially killed off yet. Does @mariom have an official link to share?

Regardless, I'm personally not concerned if they kill off the 1-series line because you can already buy lenses via mount adapters, it's not like the camera becomes useless.

    • DPReview have contacts and stated

"we're leaving Nikon 1 cameras out of the list, as we believe the series is no longer being developed."

      Here:
      https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canon-eos-m3-review

Certainly not official, but more than an unfounded rumour.

I'm glad you like your camera. My main bodies are D7100, D7200. I didn't find anything appealing about the 1 series but I'm not you and I don't do the photography you do. If you're enjoying it, more power to you. The best camera is the one you want to carry around and use.
