Dyson V6 Absolute Handstick Vacuum Cleaner $499 ($399 After $100 AmEx Cashback) @ Harvey Norman

520

I know this isn't cheaper than the previously expired TGG Ebay deal at $439.20 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/275638 but if combined with the $100 AMEX cashback it would bring the price down to $394. Myer have the same deal for $494 for a pricematch.

I see Harvey Norman also offer 12 months Interest Free on a Go card for vacuum's

    • Fixed. Please just use report in future.

  • That expired deal was for TGG not Bing Lee. But anyway that was 439.20 so pretty good if you can use the Amex to get it for 399. I received my Amex card in the mail after the max enrollments had been reached :(

    • Thanks updated the old deal description:)

      • For the expired TGG deal, I claimed 30 days price guarantee for good guys price to get back the difference. Btw, myer has this for $494, so maybe you can price match it.

Damn, I wish I enrolled in the AMEX offer!

@aussman, some of us are monitoring these Dyson deals. Just because you aren't, doesn't mean others also aren't.

        Thanks OP :)

  • I heard the battery life of Dyson Vacuum is short, review says you charge for 3.5hrs and can only use for 15-20mins. Is that real?

    • +4

Yes, if you're comparing with other cordless than can state 'up to 75 mins' that particular example is on a Bosch, on its lowest setting it will run for 75 minutes, brush bar doesn't spin and suction is virtually non existent.

    • +2

Yep, it's real. How big is your house? I can do almost all of ours in 15 mins. 3 bed lowset.

      • You're fast! Mine is also 3 br, but usually takes me 40 mins to vacuum the whole house.

        • +4

Have you used a cordless before? You'd be surprised how much faster it is.

        • You only press the button for the actual vacuuming. So that is purely 20 mins of actual suction, and won't include the walking back and forth bit. I can also do my 3bedroom 2bath townhouse in one charge, once a week, standard clean (not deep clean).

I will not be gentle! (Roughs up OP)

Price match Miele C3 cat & Dog with Myer's price ($499 as well ) plus AMEX 100off offer is a better option.

And you can get bonus 4 boxes of bags(16 bags) in this month as well. you almost not need to worry about bags for almost 9 years (considering 6 month per bag)

    • +3

Doesn't seem to be a comparing apples with apples….that's a corded (bag) Vac vs this Dyson cordless & bagless.

    • Ts & Cs of the Amex offer exclude purchases of Miele products though.

Excludes purchases of Miele, Falcon, NEFF, AEG, Gaggenau, ASKO, St George, Fagor, De Detrich, Elica & Apple products.

  • I went to Harvey Norman Nunawading last week tried to buy $600 worth of stuff, but was told the Amex deal was stopped since Monday last week! Don't know if this is only apply to this particular store or the whole Harvey Norman deal is down.

    • +2

The offer is done through statement credit direct from Amex and most of the time when I use these kind of offers, the staff in the store will have no idea about any deals from Amex.

Deal expires 30/12/16 so it should still be valid

—edit— could always buy the $600 and see if you get the email notification, if not, you can return it :)

      • +1

Yes, I should have done that. Harvey Norman put a big sign on the check out desk saying the deal is no longer available. I ended up buying the washing machine somewhere else. Actually it is a lie. I just called Amex, they told me that the deal is still on. But because I did not buy from Harvey Norman they cannot help. Not happy with HN. :(

I was at Harvey Norman Malaga (WA) store this morning and purchased the Dyson V6 Absolut (thanks OP!) for $494 (price-matched with Myer) and received the "thank you for spending at Harvey Norman" confirmation email from Amex, so the deal still seems to be active.

The HN stores have apparently have stopped people buying Vpay (which I think are virtual prepaid Visa cards?) in relation to this Amex offer, so maybe that's what the Nunawading store was referring to?

      • was there a few at Malaga?..heading there after work as well

        • +1

Yes, there were two piles of them, about 6-7 in each stack. The price tag on them was still showing $548, but when I checked with one of the salesmen, he had a look on the system and confirmed the $499 price, and said it was showing that price was only for today (or maybe that was a sales gimmick, but I was going to buy one anyway!). Had no trouble price getting the Myer price match, so even if the $499 was a price reduction for today only, I assume they would continue to match the Myer price whilst it's valid (which I think is until Monday).

  • Is the amex offer still open for enrollment? or did I miss the boat?

    • Maximum enrolments have been reached for this offer, so unfortunately you've missed out this time :(

      • Have the max number of claims been reached yet for the amex offer?

        • I've never seen a reference in the Amex offers to a "maximum number of claims", only "offer limited to the first xxxx(insert number) cards to register", so I would assume the maximum number of claims would equal the number of cards permitted to register for the offer, as you can only claim the offer once on each card. However, some people probably register just in case but then end up not using the offer.

  • Are these Amex offers for Amex cards issued by Amex alone or can we use bank issued Amex cards with NAB/ANZ logo Amex's too?

    • +1

Sometimes all cards are eligible to register for an offer (e.g. Shop Small promotions) other times they're targeted, so which offers you get often depends on which card you have i.e. the Amex-issued cards seem to get a lot more offers but some good ones come through for bank-issued Amex cards as well (I have a CBA Amex). With bank-issued cards, you need to sign up through Amex Connect https://network.americanexpress.com/connect/au/en/default.ht… and register the card on that site. I occasionally receive emails from Amex Connect about offers, but more often than not, I become aware of new offers through threads on OzBargain or the long-running "New [Amex] Statement Credits thread on AFF http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/american… . I then check my Amex Connect account to see whether I'm eligible to register for those offers.

      • thankyou soooo much you're an absolute legend!

        • +1

No problem, glad to be of help :)

      • Thanks a lot. Saved me hours of research.

        • You're welcome :). A number of Ozbargainers have helped me with various questions since I joined, so it's nice to be able to help someone else in return :)

  • Thanks OP, bought one :)
