Still have not got mine as yet…I live in Sydney

I get stuff quicker from Hong Kong than from these guys!!

    • Did you call auspost?. They told me my item will arrive on friday.

      • Is there a tracking number?

Just checked my account on catch of the day. Mine is still in processing!

  • Emailed them and got a very quick response…anyone else experiencing delays?

    Hi there,

    Thank you for your email.

Very sorry about that! There was a small delay at our warehouse…

Not to worry, the problem has since been resolved and your order is currently in the final stages of processing.

The moment you order is dispatched, you will receive email confirmation.

I apologise for the inconvenience and for the delay - feel free to contact me if you have any further queries.
    Kind regards,

  • Have you guys got your cashback from paypal? I haven't and I wonder if I have not done something right.

  • Hi all I received mine and can confirm it's the 1001px model.

I have not received the paypal cashback, but remember it saying this will happen before 30 of july.

For those who do have the eee pc, was there a piece of material in the battery compartment? mine did and I pulled it out, was quite hard to pull out and now im wondering whether it's suppose to be there or not. Maybe some kind of heat thing?

All in all its been quite good, feels nice and is comfortable to type on, but it does come with alot of programs I will hardly use.

    Thanks all

    • Thanks. I thought it was 1/7/2010. My mistake.

My battery compartment has nothing to pull out. Not too sure what you are talking about. Battery doesn't last long but I haven't time it yet.

      • With mine I removed the battery and there was this thin white material, I initially did not see at the start, but did again when removing the battery. And when removed it was the size of the netbook itself.

  • Got mine this morning and running Win7 and upgraded to 2gb ram. Runs fast enough for most tasks.

The only issue is it emits a very subtle scratchy sound randomly every couple of seconds. Can confirm that it's not coming from the speaker. Definitely not the hard drive either.

    • try muting the mic, otherwise possibly the fan

      • Doesn't work. Sounds like some electrical circuit shorting on my board or something. Barely noticeable but annoying as hell.

        • okay then it may be coming from the chip itself or even the mini pci card try removing , sometimes even mem can do that

  • Got mine today, going to leave XP on it for now. Put Win7 on my other EEPC and lost a bit of battery life.

  • Got mine today too. Am going to see how well it runs under XP before moving it to Win7.

  • Anyone notice a lot of flex in the screen? If you push lightly on the back of the screen, the lcd picture distorts. These units are no way made as sturdy as the previous Eeepc's

    • Hi Finger,

I'm typing this on my new EEE PC now. Just tried pushing the screen from the back but it seems fairly strong. The bezel flexes a little bit and makes a bit of noise but no distorting of the LCD picture.

  • Anyone having issues creating recovery discs? Just a pointer to my forum thread about this, since these comment threads aren't ideal for this type of discussion:

  • Hi,

Can anyone confirm that this is a 6 cell battery? I noticed the 1001px advertised earlier for a similar price only came with a 3 cell.

Was also wondering if anyone's actually been able to get close to the 11hr claimed battery life?

    • Yeah it's 6-cell (4400 mAh) . Can't say much about the 11 hours claimed. Asus says it's only the case if you use their Super Hybrid Engine Utility. Didn't install it after installing Win7.

      • I charged the unit for about 12hrs when it arrived, then turned it on, unplugged it at 10pm from the power.

did some web browsing and video watching on youtube. Works quite well, seems to really struggle to play anything better than DVD quality 480p. I tried playing 720p content and the video was stuttering badly.

As for the battery life, I left it on overnight and found that the system went on powersave at 5:30am.

So looks like with some light usage you get about 7hrs. After I went to bed, I also turned down the screen brightness which would have stretched the battery. I'm guessing if you're watching movies continuously (like on a plane ride) the battery would only last about 5hrs.

has anyone received the cash back yet?

    • no not yet. have you?

    • Yes!
Cashback received via PayPal on Tue 27 July @ 10:05AM (C.S.T.)
      :+)

  • Yep, received today aswell:
    Date: 27 Jul 2010
    Time: 10:16:19 AEST

    • I've received my cashback aswell, how is everyone going with their netbook? For me it was an impulse buy and now Im wondering how much to sell it for.

      • Impulse for me too. Installed Win 7 and now in storage coz i bought an i7 desktop for cheap. i've seen it sell for $400 on ebay, not sure how the guy got such a good selling price since other sellers have buy it now below 350
