Looking for a good file explorer with a sleek, modern look and many features? Good to see you here!
Solid Explorer is the best looking file and cloud manager with two independent panels, which brings to you a new file browsing experience.

This is the only fully featured file manager with Material Design you can find in the Play Store. It's better, faster and solid when compared to the competition. Apart from the ability to manage files in almost every location, it also gives you many customization options, such as themes, icon sets and color schemes. You can freely adjust the interface to match your taste. Dual pane file browsing with drag and drop greatly increases your productivity.

Solid Explorer is a great cloud file manager, because it provides you a wide support for cloud storages including Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, OneDrive, Mega and Owncloud. This file manager can also connect to your Windows PC and many remote servers working with FTP, SFTP and WebDav. By the way, you will appreciate the ability to create or extract most commonly used archive formats, such as ZIP, RAR and 7ZIP.
Maybe you're tired of ugly looking root explorer apps? This file manager will meet your needs. It features a root explorer with ability to change system level file properties. You don't need to remember about mounting file systems as read/write. Solid Explorer will do it for you automatically.

Solid Explorer is also a great file manager for viewing your media. It can arrange your photos, videos and music in one place for easy and quick access. It has a built in music player and image viewer, which even allow you to play remote content stored for example on your PC, Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive. The most cool thing is that the content can be casted to your Chromecast.

Just give it a try! You will not be disappointed.

Good app. For all those using ES File Explorer and sick of the bloat - this is the solution.

    • Or just pay for the Pro version.

      • +1

Or even use the old version 3.2.5

I'm using a mod of ES from http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-es-fi… because the official "Pro" version doesn't work with systemless root (on Android 7). ES "Pro" is dead and no longer updated.

Systemless root does work free version, but that has ads.

        • @navcar:

so sad to know my pro version wont have update anymore :(

        • @navcar: Great link! Useful for friends of mine. Ta.

When you said Pro is "dead" did you mean the developers have confirmed they have stopped updating it, or did you mean it's dead to you?

        • @MiniMoo: Unconfirmed AFAIK

        • @MiniMoo: I take it back, there has finally been an update with the PRO version!! V1.0.8

        • @navcar: Still hasn't shown up in my Google Play yet. Have they added in all the free version's bloat?

        • @MiniMoo: nvm, got it last night.

    Amaze File Manger master race.

    • Amaze is good, free and open source. It's available on F-Droid.

  • Has anyone used this and Total Commander? I'd like to know how they compare from your experience.

    • Total Commander looks like Windows version ie. terrible.

    • +2

Total Commander feels like the DOS explorers back in the day. It also has one thing that all the others do not have - Paragon's NTFS/exFAT plugin support that allows you to read larger hard drives formated in Windows natively (NTFS).

  • Thanks, will try it out and compare with ES File Explorer Pro version

Been using this ever since ES File Explorer started its dodgy behaviour.

    • +1

I'm still using ES explorer, what dodgy behaviour have I missed?

      • +1

Original developer sold the app and now includes adware.

        • +1

Ah, I bought the pro version for 20c when it was on sale back in March here. I had forgotten that there are different versions now.

        • @newdad:
Dont forget everything you type/every picture you take/every site you visit
Is stored by es file explorer
          See thier "logger" function…
          :)

        • @0p: thanks, now that is seriously 'dodgy'

Not if you use the Pro version - especially since it was on sale for 99c as well before.

Using the Asus File Manager (also available for non-asus phones, it's free) that came preinstalled on my zenfone. I actually find it to be really good, also liking the browser file access feature.

  • Switched to this app a few weeks ago, finally had enough of ES's rubbish. Been good so far.

Didn't think people actually pay for APKs considering how easy it is to get them, unlike IPA's lol

    • Yep, it's easy to get infected APK's which send your photos, sms messages, call logs and spy on your camera and microphone.

All it takes is one bad app.

    • Who wouldn't steal things to save a dollar? I ask you.

  • +2

Used this when ES went all bloated up. Very very good app, worth every penny to use as a file browser on Android.

  • Been using this for years since before they used the material design. Very good file manager.

  • Can you use this To Sideload to Android Tv? I. E. ES Allows To Share Via LAN.

    • Don't know anything about Android TV, but like I said in the OP, it's free to try before you buy, so try it yourself.

    • To answer my own question. It's not available for Android TV.

  • +3

I also just became a member of the 'Removed ES Explorer' club and this discount was perfect timing. Thanks OP
It's a nice, clean File explorer, very happy with it.

  • I got ES explorer pro already. Should I get this for any extra functionality? Anything good with chromecast plugin?
