  • pretty neat deal, bought these at jabens last years for $200 at Melbourne city.

  • Good deal! I need to control my headphone addiction…already have akg m7xx…

  • I just bought the ATH-MSR7 for $225 from eBay
The M500X at this price level is great esp. matte grey.

  • +4

I'm slowly going broke.. thanks for this deal

  • how much better are these to the M50's that i already have?

    worth the upgrade?

    • +1

I heard that they are exactly the same, with just the removable cable of course.

Having the removable cable is a great addition, but as you already have one you should look into just modding your current headphone

I did this a couple of days ago and it works great

    • There are a number of youtube videos that answer this but for the most part; comfort, cable and colours are the main differences. The drivers are still the same.

  • +1

ah man… i can still cancel my order of the Sennheiser hd598 Cs to get these, i like the looks of these and plenty of positive reviews.

    • There's a few comparisons around such as this. Seems to come down to personal preference, but the ath-m50x' seem to be ozbargainers favorite headphones :P

    • -2

M50s are overrated, they are also incredibly uncomfortable.

      • thanks, im gonna keep the hd598 Cs.

      • +4

I'll have to disagree, M50s are very comfortable.

      • I also disagree, some of the most comfortable headphones I own… and I have 7 set currently

        • 7 !
do you get a chance to use all 7 ?
am now considering getting these as well as keeping the hd598Cs or just keeping the ones that i prefer.

        • @shonofear:

TBH no not really haha - I use the M50x mostly, I have some I use for gym, due to sweating, A Klipsch set next to my bed when I can't be bothered getting others and my M50x at my PC. I also have 2 sets of Turtle Beach for the PS4… but they are irritating to wear

    • -1

hd598c is closed and M50x is open so why not both :p

      • from what I've googled, aren't they both closed?

        • Oops you are right, I had my m50 a long time ago and my memory is not very reliable now.

Actually for this price point, I would highly recommend Philips X2, which were available for under $200 earlier.

I ordered from that deal… Amazon cancelled the orders and issued refunds.

        • @zfa:
          That's too bad.
I already have X1 otherwise I would get that x2 in a heartbeat.

        • Yeah, I sold my x2 when having a headphone cull and wish I'd kept them now. That deal was great but they overreached so just cancelled them all.

ATH-40X are favoured by same as more neutral and better than the 50x. YouTube videos if interested in a different opinion. I have neither as I have too many headphones at the moment already.

  • My 50x short cables got stuffed and I don't want to use the long cable. Any ideals where to get cheap replacement?

  • Nice headphones. Recently switched to DT770 80Ohm. Oh my god, I didn't know headphone comfort. Similar price deal is going on at the moment. Check reviews of both headphones before deciding.

  • How would you rank them with ear comfort & sound quality of Bose Qc 25 or 35?

  • Bought the matte grey!

  • I reckon I will wait for pre Xmas or Boxing day sales.

Best headphones under $300 in terms of sounds/quality/price factors, hands down.

  • -2

So much misinformation in this thread.

    • +3

      Like what?

      • "M50x is open"
        "It's a 2.5" jack"
"Actually for this price point, I would highly recommend Philips X2" - not available at that price point

  • I've bought two pairs around this price, looks like the RRP was bumped and then put on sale by some places (Scorptec have them for $199 on sale from $249, I paid $199 for them from Scorptec April 2015)

    • I've always seen them at 279rrp.

      • I checked my order history on Scorptec's site, they were equal cheapest at the time within Australia atleast, and they're definitly the 50x's, they're on my head at the moment.

  • These are good headphones of course. But if they hurt your ears because the cups are too tight try stretching the metal band wide (it can take a wide stretching without breaking) and also buy bigger cups like this it makes these headphones a lot more comfortable https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OLKV5Q8/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=U…

  • bought one ! thanks OP!

  • Are the Sennheiser HD600's at $318 a good price?

    • +1

It has been $300 before but it looks to be the cheapest currently that i could find. It has pretty good reviews and you can always come into the shop to try/ compare them at no cost

  • These or the sennheiser momentum 2.0 over ears for travel use?

    • +1

Sennheiser. Better sound quality (IMO) but also far, far more comfortable.

  • +1

    Up to $192 now :(
