[PRICE ERROR] David Jones Lifestyle Canvas Duffle Bag Navy $0.07 @ David Jones - C&C Only

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Reduced to $0.07 with the current 25% sale (was $0.10)

Plenty of stock available in VIC and other states. Alternatively you can get it delivered for an extra $10.

There is also a Christmas Gift Box for $0.01 (basically $0.00 with the 25% sale) http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1…

Note: If you receive 'inventory error' its due to the site being hammered. There is still stock left so keep trying, you'll be able to add item to cart and checkout after some time.
Also, I think the orders will be honoured as they honoured the deal I posted a while ago for the Ultralieve bag for $1

Update: 10:42 PM - seems some people have been successful in adding to cart using IE and PayPal with C&C…

      Login and check the status.

Mine (not this store) was cancelled with zero communication (or refund), hence the PayPal dispute.

      • I did guest checkout so can't check status.

        • There'll still be an account in the db. Just enter you email into the Forgotten Password and you'll be able to login. Bet'cha.

        • @PainToad: I tried just now - nope, it just said invalid password

        • @webified: What PainToad said worked for me. Took around 30 minutes to receive the password reset email though.

Pick up email received last night, but status is cancelled in my account. What shoddy systems they have; lesson learnt.

I will give it a week, and if no contact, I will dispute the charge.

        • @megaclix:

Hmm for me it says my email is incorrect and im pretty sure it's the email I used to checkout.

  • no call or email yet…
didn't seem like the bag sale tracked onto my account.

My only other order from DJ I see (which was also cancelled) was:
    Mens Check Flat Cap $0
White Basics Round Sauce Dish $1.25

    Not having a good run

…you need to get better at spotting 'pricing errors' as opposed to 'genuine bargains'

      • +11

DJs needs to get better at their data entry…or at the very least, handling situations like this.

        • I wonder if the data entry has been offshored? If so, they may have saved a few dollars but what cost has this done to their brand (reputation plus clean up)?

  • What about anyone who paid via PayPal?
I've not heard anything from DJ's yet.. will be interesting to see what happens.

    • +6

Screw them, open a case now. I did yesterday, now just waiting the mandatory few days before escalating it.

    • Yeah I haven't heard anything either. Just a delayed confirmation email I didn't get the other night. Going to open a case

      • Hmm.. ok will have to look into it. Thanks.

    • I paid by paypal. they sent me a email to call them for a refund back onto my CC. so that might happen to you too

      • yep got the email too.. hardly worth it but will follow-up! thanks.

  • +1

The Gross incompetence of the email privacy would honestly make me want real compensation… at least $100.

    • -6

      …opportunistic much?

pricing error = get over it, move on, look for some meaning in life etc.

      • +2

He meant email privacy and not the pricing error.

  • +1

Just spoke to lady from store, there was a pricing error and all order will be cancelled. DJ have also posted this on their website. Expecting a call from Store Manager to explain me this.

      greedy asf m8

  • Got a call from the store saying it was cancelled and as it was a DJ error they will refund into a credit card (as opposed to a gift card as I paid via paypal).

I ordered some legit items to be picked up from that store so the customer service rep said they will handle the refund when I collect my other order

  • +1

Perth store had a pile of 100 orders marked 'for refund' when I got there. The bags don't exist they claim it was supposed to be a free item that came with something else.

  • Another idiotic example of why you should keep these bargains to yourself OP

    • Why? The most people have lost is a matter of cents. And hopefully we've all taught DJs a lesson.

      • +6

If op was the only buyer, his order might've gotten through. When there are thousands of $0.07 orders, the chance of any order going through is lower.

Not about losing cents, more about chance of order going through.

        • +8

The sense of accomplishment from an interesting, much click thru and upvoted deal on Ozbargain probably outweighed the need for a 7 cent bag…

        • I highly doubt.

This was a GWP, meaning they're actually not meant to be sold, whether it be for $50 or $0.01.

From my experience working in retail - GWPs have zero value.

      • +1

you are absolutely wrong. Most people lose their common sense too, knowing that it is a pricing error and still get upset when they are offered refunds :)

        • I really don't think 'most' people are upset by this. It's been good for a laugh.

    • +9

Sharing is caring, that's just the ozbargain spirit. I only try to buy it after posting the deal, and it either gets honoured for us all or no one..

      • +1

while your intentions were good would have been better to verify the deal before posting and before the hordes descended…

        • +4

Verifying it would just defeat the whole purpose of it being a bargain, and like I said my other post for the Ultralieve bag got honoured for $1 while it was $25 at TGG and elsewhere. So it was worth a try to buy this bag seeing as though it was only 7c…

        • -2

@koalafied: i think youre getting confused between a sale/discount/legitimate bargain

          &

exploiting a website pricing error for personal gain

of course you verify a price that seems too good to be true. especially before posting here of all places…it sounds like 100s if not 1000s of orders were placed because of the fact that it wasnt verified first to be a legit price.

        • +1

@franco cozzo: why is it on Koalafied to verify it's a good price? Are you crazy? It was $0.07 on the David Jones website.

No one except DJs needs to verify anything. God damn, stop whining.

        • -2

@xanderf: why is it on Koalafied to verify it's a good price?
because you dont post a deal unless its legit

Are you crazy? It was $0.07 on the David Jones website
are you crazy…that was a clearly an error and would never be honoured

No one except DJs needs to verify anything. God damn, stop whining.
whining…? in this thread full of people expecting an absolutely unrealistic pricing error to be honoured…
and now bitching about refunds equal to less than a dollar…and wanting to punish david jones with cheque refunds, paypal claims etc!? :D

    • If people only thought about themselves, this site would cease to exist.

If you have kids, I hope you are not teaching them to be greedy.

  • +12

Anyone who's complaining about having their orders cancelled or not receiving their item should take a good hard look at themselves.

    • -2

agree…it was clearly an obvious website pricing error prematurely posted, not verified & then exploited by some of the ozb community….and now the self entitled whining is frankly pathetic

    • +2

Do you know of any sites where mirrors are on sale?

  • +3

….the sense of entitlement in this thread is incredible.

    • +4

I don't know where you are seeing this in this thread - there is some, but it is not the main theme.

I think the overall annoyance is that many of us have not been contacted to advise that the order is cancelled. Or that a major retailer such as DJ's cannot just reverse the charge.

The only communication I have had is an Order Ready for Pick up Email. I checked out as a guest, and only found out the order is cancelled when I discovered that an account gets created anyway, and gained access via a password reset.

PS: What baffles me more is, why do you care?

      • +2

Pretty most of us went into this trying our luck anyway. We had the feeling it wouldn't be honoured, and at the end of the day, it wasn't.

      • +3

If you've read the thread, you'll be able to see that there have been an "unusually" large number of orders.

It's a large company, I know. But do you really expect them to divert every single resource to this particular error?
You do realise that they have other things to do.

You cannot seriously have gone into this without knowing it's a possible price error and that this might happen. When you eventually get that cancellation email, are you going to print it out, frame and then put in on your wall?

From where I sit, I think that the bigger this gets from all the whining and whinging, the more likely the person that got this wrong will lose their job.

Accept that you took the gamble and you lost - now just move on.

Btw, We've got people like this (see below) that helps to guarantee that pricing errors will never be honoured.

PS: i paid using Paypal and got at least a dozen bags, from a couple of different stores.

      • +1

the bit where people exploited a pricing error and now expect formal cancellations, refunds, the item for 7 cents, apologies for breach of email privacy and even some cries for compensation..

  • I just received an email letting me know it was a price error and my order is cancelled

  • This question may have already been answered.. Is the free bag with $75 spend still available?

  • +3

Well played DJ. Won't even refund order automatically. I have to call some number to get a 7c refund. Might as well forgo it. Looks like they made more money on it.

  • -5

Finally received cancellation email from David Jones but I don't like their excuse at all, "unfortunately due to a pricing error online, we are unable to fulfil your order"

Didn't someone here able to get it from the store for $0.1? even their system checked out with that price, then it wasn't the online error.

Could the good bro who got the item please post the invoice as proof?

    • +2

Yes, 1 person got it because of an inept staff member, 100s (if not 1000s) of orders weren't honoured.

It's over, you're not getting it, move on…

      • -1

no …they spotted a pricing error, publicised & promoted it here, exploited it by ordering multiples in the 100s/1000s and brought the site to a standstill and now they demand that stuff at the absolutely unrealistic price that was published in error ever so briefly on the djs site…its their right as consumers who know a website error/exploit when they see one and are happy to milk it for all its worth…

      • +2

No need for an ombudsman, just ask them politely to meet their obligations under ACL. Shouldn't matter whether it's 10c or $10,000

        • Data point: Refund received today via PayPal. They've now met their obligations under ACL, with everything calm & polite.

  • +3

    Ahahahahajahaha

  • +13

If everyone pools their 7 cent refunds OzBargain could hold a raffle with the bag purchased at full price as the prize.

  • +2

Was not really expecting the bag, but no automatic refund really really piss me off.

    • +3

True. got the email telling me to call them to organise the refund. Just going to start a paypal dispute and see where it goes.

  • -1

Are we able to ask for Cheque instead of a credit card refund? Will cost DJ more than the .07c to send them out.

    • +4

So this is why DJs is so expensive, to please the whingers

    • ….spiteful you didnt get to exploit & take advantage of a website pricing error…?!? :D
sorry to be blunt but only an absolute idiot would expect a $49.99 item to be reduced to $0.07 and expect the transaction to be honoured
and now you want to punish djs for your stupidity….amazing.

  • just received the email - now they want ppl to contact them for a refund

    • Just got the email too. Now I wonder if my time is worth the 20 cents refund for my bags :/

  • For those who paid by PayPal are they refunding to PayPal or pushing a DJ gift card?

    • +1

they refunded directly onto my credit card.

      • +1

Did you have to give them your credit card details?

Or just call the DJ number? (02) 9266 5802

        • +2

call the store that you placed the instore collect order with.

quote your order number and they will ask for your credit card number.

they definitely don't have it if you paid with paypal, and if you paid by credit card they only have the last 4 digits.

    • -4

      youre worried about a 7 cent refund….?? lol :P

      • +2

5c is 5c, you never know when you'll need it :-)

  • LOL - an example of how they haven't really lost out due to the error. I mean now they have a lot of manual admin…emails and processing refunds through their office. But joke is on us :( How many of us are going to bother calling for a 10 / 7 cent refund??

    • I got a call from 2 stores and they processed the refund over the phone, however the 3rd store sent me an email asking to call for the refund lol

  • +1

Finally received an email advising me that my order is cancelled due to a pricing error.

Is it a pricing error? I thought the price was correct, just that a "glitch" in the system allowed this item to be bought, without the qualifying $75 purchase and as such David Jones wouldn't be honouring the sale.

    Fun while it lasted.

  • Still haven't received the pricing error email. Half tempted to go down and collect, but it is a 20 minute drive…

    • -2

      …let it go, move on.

Excellent advice, perhaps consider taking it your self.
You have made close to a dozen replies of the same nature now.
Put the razor blades down and move on

  • Has anyone thought about how much DJ would made from customers who doesn't bother to follow up the 7cent refund? Last time I saw it had 45k+ clicked to the link, if I assume clicks=customers 45,000 x 7cent = $3150!!
To find out how many purchases had been made, could someone post a poll how many bags purchased please?
Also poll for how many of you that yours purchase(s) had been honoured :)

Received the dreaded cancellation email today and decided: I am gonna leave my 14 cents with David Jones in respect of the lady at DJ Glen Waverley who 2 years back held the last Canon DSLR for me over just a phone call and shooed away walk-in buyers for nearly half a day.

  • Hello,
Got a email from david jones saying due to price error they cannot supply and big sorry.

  • they actually make money from price error, thats a shame

  • +2

I really did let it go. However I have just received an email from David Jones:-

Did your recent purchase go well?

    Hi PJC,

Feedback from verified purchasers like yourself improves online shopping for everyone. In your honest opinion, was shopping with us a good experience?

Click here to review David Jones

    Thank you,
    David Jones

    • +2

They value your honest opinion so be sure to provide it. :)

    • +2

what nerve. Got it too. Had to chuckle when I first saw it

    • +3

Got that as well and sure gave my honest opinion given I received zero communication from them, no phone call no email to state it was a mistake.

On a side note, they also stuffed up one of my other order as they left an item out and what a pain to go through as I needed to email them pictures of the box and items as proof they left out the item, and as they are receiving a lot of emails lately, can only get back in a few days. Pretty poor service DJ.

  • Anyone successfully get a refund from Paypal?

    • have to open a dispute to get my 7 cents back.

    • Yes… reported above. Reminded them of their obligations under ACL.

    • Received email from PayPal

"We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your favour.

We were able to recover $0.20 AUD, and this amount has been credited to you. Please allow 5 business days for this adjustment to be posted."

      • -2

when you outsource all your IT work to India what do you expect? constant pricing errors and (profanity) ups

they would have spent more dealing with these problems than if they paid something who had half a clue what they were doing

        • Finished ranting yet? You weren't even responding to my comment

        • -3

@Spackbace: I said I will never purchase from DJs ever again. That is definitely a reply to you. Even if they have a huge sale, I will never go near theem again.

simple enough for even you to understand, correct ? it's not brain surgery

        • @nhkay:

And as I said, we'll see you back here at the next pricing error or bargain price.

When's the last time you even looked in a DJs store, or their site, before this pricing error?
