[PRICE ERROR] David Jones Lifestyle Canvas Duffle Bag Navy $0.07 @ David Jones - C&C Only

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Reduced to $0.07 with the current 25% sale (was $0.10)

Plenty of stock available in VIC and other states. Alternatively you can get it delivered for an extra $10.

There is also a Christmas Gift Box for $0.01 (basically $0.00 with the 25% sale) http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1…

Note: If you receive 'inventory error' its due to the site being hammered. There is still stock left so keep trying, you'll be able to add item to cart and checkout after some time.
Also, I think the orders will be honoured as they honoured the deal I posted a while ago for the Ultralieve bag for $1

Update: 10:42 PM - seems some people have been successful in adding to cart using IE and PayPal with C&C…

How are we meant to know? People are saying that it was obviously was a pricing error. Well, it wasn't obvious to me.

As a marketing ploy to get your Email address, online retailers sell some items ridiculously cheap or give thing away for free - are they obviously pricing errors? i.e. sell you a item for say $0.10, that has a cost price of say $2 (purchases in bulk from overseas), rather than spend $20 marketing costs elsewhere to get you on their mailing list.

      • …how were you supposed to know that a bag that looks like it retails for $50 was being sold for .07c?
        ….seriously? :D

        • How does something look like it retails for $50. I only had an image to go off, but didn't zoom in (if you could), as the site was so temperamental, and I ordered on my mobile phone. I couldn't even find a description/specs to get an idea of its size.

  • +10

I got an email from DJ asking me to call them to organize the refund.

Also in the email are the email addresses of EVERYONE. <NAUGHTY GRIN>

    • hmm i havent gotten an email yet.

    • sell the email list for 7 cents

  • +3

Yeah differing views but I reckon it pretty ordinary of DJs to take the approach that is most in their favour. Why did they take so long to shut down the deal it went all afternoon and night after all? Wouldn't have hurt them to put some silly bags on back order they give then away after all. Won't be rushing back in.

  • I received a call about an hour ago saying that it was a pricing error and that they will refund me my 21 cents back lol

    • on gift card? or they asked for a cc detail? I haven't received a call/email from DJ yet, but checked my order online and it has been cancelled. I want my 11c back XD

      • They asked for my credit card details. I was laughing about my massive refund of 21 cents 😂😂😂 Apparently the DJs chick that called me said chaddy had 47 refunds to do. Doesn't sound like much after the chaos on Ozbargain last night.

        • +1

I wouldn't be handing over my credit card number over the phone to a complete stranger with no way to verify who she is, or how many times she may copy and paste the details.

  • +27

Got a call from DJ's saying it was a pricing error. Wanted my credit card details to do a refund but didn't have my wallet close by so told her to keep the 7 cents as they will need it more than me with Amazon about to set up in Au's.

    • Cheeky…I like it!

    • +1

      She probably doesn't care.

As long as she still has a job ;)

    • Oooo when???

  • They have deducted from my CC, never received confirmation email but took screen shot of my order. Haven't heard from them yet as well.

  • So… am I the only one who actually ended up getting this mythical duffle bag!?

  • +3

Haha I dont understand why so many people wasted their time and complain for obvious pricing error.. If it is like digital contents or cheap stuff then I understand but.. it is too obvious that DJ will not sell the that bag for 10cents..

Just think about it… this item would easily sell even they put like 5bucks… lol Why would they sell for 10cents….

hope you guys dont get scammed with credit card details lol..

People got too much time thesedays !

    • +3

I feel bad for the people who spent 3 hours trying to get the order through.

  • +1

When you're mad over .10c, and if you're mad for anything more all i can say is 'sucked in' for not allowing me to order 1 : D

  • +1

    So I read this.
according to australian consumer law once money has been accepted by the seller the transaction is deemed complete and as such must be honoured

    • +1

Everyone keen for a class action?
This guy got away with it, but we are here to demonstrate principle not about seven cents yea?

      http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/opinion/public-defende…

    • +2

nope…go back to consumer law school it dont work like that

    • +1

      HAHAHHAHAHAH

maybe add this to the click frenzy forum………………………

and yes your interpretation is correct

Franco just because i can't be bothered with this the difference is that there has been a physically accepted transaction for goods. order placed / goods paid / legal binding tax invoice created.

      • genuine error = they dont have to honour it.
you are talking about selling the bag at the advertised price right?….and not in re a refund?

        • I'm agreeing with geeluv and the interpretation

but for those stupid enough to waste their time they can in this instance.

the cancellation shouldn't be over error an out of stock and no rain check is the valid option

what happens when you walk into a store and you see a price on the shelf for a 1/4 of what it should be you buy it because they have to honour an advertised price depending on your intgrety determines is the hassle worth it

it's happened to me the shelf price for something i bought for a gift for someone was less than it should have been i was actually none the wiser but they said our mistake and honoured it while someone went and removed the rest of them off the shelf

a store manager trying to save his arse will depending on the item try and talk you out of it but the reality is they can't and it's up to you how much value the ensuing argument is.

      • +6

        Hahahaa

Every single pricing error post has someone stupidly trying to quote ACL to get the retailer to honour the price

At some point during the purchase process, you would've agreed to DJ's Ts & Cs (or the simple fact of being on their website means you implicitly agree to them):

ok last one because you seem to be quite neg in general and this point was about geeluvs comment being correct

T&C are actually only as legally binding as the law of the country

they could put you must wear green pants when purchasing this in the T&C doesn't mean it's correct

i find the whole thing amusing to be honest if it was an honest purchase that you were invested in you could fight and win

are they going to hunt down the woman who bought a couple yesterday and demand the bags back

        • +9

          @Toons:

If you took it to court, you'd lose under the basis that a 'reaonable person' would not have expected the duffel bag to be on sale for $0.10. (As much as some members love to say they'd expect to find that sort of discount)

          If it's a $49.95 bag, the discounted ($0.10) price works out to a 99.98% discount… Ah huh

        • +1

At least they should give us some store credit like TGG.

        • -2

          @Spackbace:

          read last 3 posts

1 because i can't be bothered with this the difference is that there has been a physically accepted transaction for goods. order placed / goods paid / legal binding tax invoice created.

2 I'm agreeing with geeluv and the interpretation

3 i find the whole thing amusing to be honest if it was an honest purchase that you were invested in you could fight and win

my god man what planet are you on

        • +1

          @superforever:

          Why?

Think about it for a minute

Good Guys gave out $20 store credits… How many people do you think spent much over $20 when they used that credit?

The next time there's a possible store error, will you just look the other way, or will you go for it just on the off-chance you get more store credit (we all know the answer to that one)

So 1 pricing error and subsequent store credits = mass loss to the business.

And before anyone says that it would sway them to purchase, or not to purchase again from that store… just realise that there is zero brand loyalty in the modern retail market. No one shuns stores, very few go back to just the one store because of good service. It's just how it is, people shop around on price, nothing more.

        • @Toons:

I'm agreeing with geeluv and the interpretation

But that's what I'm disagreeing with. The law (and commonsense) is not just 1 line, there are many rules to that law, and any major online store knows to cover their ass on pricing errors (and the law is also there to protect them from having a major loss from something like this).

The news story about the jeweller, I'm assuming he didn't exactly have a watertight system in place.

Just imagine, if the law didn't cover the retailer as well, how much money they could lose from a hack, or a dodgy employee. Just change all the prices to $0.01 and watch chaos ensue, and you think the law would side on the customers side?

        • -1

          @Spackbace:

and virgin ended up saying what??????

        • @superforever: for trying to exploit a pricing error? you want store credits…? :D

        • +1

          @franco cozzo:

For their error they made. Remember Coles used to give out their stuff free if you found the price was wrong?

        • +2

@superforever: website errors are different to scanning code practice etc. T&Cs of use will always cover pricing errors etc

        • We are not liable to you or anyone else for any Loss in connection with use of this website or a linked website.

          Lol credit card scam time!

    • +4

Tell that to DJ. Not the first time they have done that.

Few months ago, I bought some shoes for a pretty silly sum $0.05 or something. And the money was already taken out of my account. In my mind that was a done deal. But they called me; told me it was a mistake and that due to the amount, no refund could be made.

In the end, I told them very clearly, you have already taken the money, so you have to either supply the shoes or refund the transaction.

      • +3

In the end, I told them very clearly, you have already taken the money, so you have to either supply the shoes or refund the transaction.

so what happened in the end………… ?

        • +1

he never heard from them again…

        • +1

They choose to refund. Ended up having to round up so that the refund could go thru.

        • @t25:

          Lol. Awesome. Profit!

  • I got the phone call this afternoon :(

    • What happened ?

      • DJs can't sell at that price, refund to credit card.

What am I going to do without my 5 duffle bags?

        • +2

You can keep your tears in ordinary shopping plastic bag, instead of the duffle. :p

  • -6

Just on a phone call with DJs now for a refund.. priced incorrectly they said… sigh… guess I won't be getting my 61 bags

    • 61?? Robbyrob you trynna rob DJ?

      • -2

lol -4votes! haha they wouldv'e went to the needy this Christmas :)

    • +1

      lol :) 61 bags…

  • +15

I really didn't think DJs would cancel all orders, I'm shocked that they refused to honour those that've ordered just one or two. Keep in mind, they did honour the Ultralieve bag I posted a month ago that was $1, so after finding this deal I thought why not and decided to post it here thinking they would honour this too.

My apologies to those who bought a bag or two and didn't receive them, as of now I will no longer post any deals under $1 from DJs as this seems to have created a backlash on ozb.

    • +18

      Mate I reckon keep posting.

It will either lead to more bargains, or DJs might actually get their house in order one day.

    • +2

I agree - keep posting them!

      • +4

        Will do then :)

    • +2

Keep on posting, I got my duffle! :D

    • +11

don't sell it short my friend

I've not laughed as much about something so stupid in ages this thread had everything

who cares about the bag i got my value from the humour in here

      • +1

        agreed

        • +1

There's a lot of funny posts here, just another reason why i love this site lol

    • +4

      Pricing errors happen:

      http://imgur.com/a/zUhqg

But people shouldn't get butthurt when it doesn't come through

      • +1

No one noticed my link… Lol :)

      • so they have fixed the glitch…, just tried then but didn't seem to work..
plus the game is out of stock .. tried add to cart, removed sp4 but removes bundle and games..

        • +1

Yeah of course it's fixed. That's the thing, if you don't open up a pricing error to the masses, you stand a lot more chance of actually getting it :)

        • @Spackbace:
          yeh definitely, nice score!

        • +1

          @maxchange:

Lol cheers, I was definitely surprised when the shipping email came through!

    • +1

Not your fault - you meant well. Keep posting, even if the price is 1c.

  • +2

Alright I have to LOL now - 9pm and my C&C order confirmation has just been emailed through for my order from last night! Their system must really be up sh*t creek atm!

    • +1

me too. I just got my order confirmation email. So i guess we should expect the cancellation email or call tomorrow lol

      • +1

Lol I just got a DJ order confirmation too at 352am after not having gotten one last night.

  • +3

Please remember to get your refund. Otherwise DJ will be the only one benefiting from all this chaos. 7cents or 10cents to an individual maybe very small amount, hence some will not bother to supply the credit cards details to get a refund…but all this adds up and DJ will be $$$$ richer.

I ordered 3 through click and collect at 3 different stores but has only got 1 confirmation to go collect. Let's see if I can really get my hands on one.

    • +2

I can't see DJ in any way profiting from this, regardless of how many 7 or 10 cent sales people don't bother getting refunded, especially if DJ are phoning customers to discuss the refund.

If these bags normally sell for $50 (think I read that earlier in the thread), then for each bag that did actually get purchased for $0.07 (and I've only seen one person so far claim to have actually got one at that price), there need to be more than 700 people not bother getting their $0.07 refunded to make up for the difference.

  • I'm got my order confirmation today, now in just have to wait for the collection email.

    • +5

      Pathetic English mate

      • +2

not everyone is a native English speaker you rude twat

  • How did scammers who call about cc details for refund know I ordered bags ? surely these people are from DJ

  • Seems like they have removed both options from their online offerings as at 9.30am Wed morning

  • -1

grabbed 2 and got my confirmation letter happi
