The old Myer 'selected' Bible strikes again. Finding a decent deal will be like panning for gold.
There's actually a few additional things included this time around, such as men's Tommy Hilfiger, Levi's jeans, Citizen watches, a variety of appliances and toys etc. Looks like about twice as many brands included compared with the last Family and Friends.
I was interested in Levis (30% off the original price)… until I noticed they're discounted by 30% right now anyway.
$119.95 for 510s down to $83.96.
And I thought the point of F&F was to give the team member discount on top of any other sale offers, hence the name.
The family and friends offer is simply to extend special discounts to the family and friends of employees. These deals are much better than our team member discount.
@laura62: Yep laura62 is correct. Our team member discounts don't work in conjunction with these offers as they are generally more than what our team member discount would give.
It's more than the staff discount gives you on it's own, yes. But it's not how the staff discount ordinarily works, which is 10-15% off after the current sale discounts are applied.
The point I'm demonstrating with the Levi's is that the 30% off is no better than what you could them for before the F&F offer.
Again, a true F&F sale should be the staff discount as well as current offers (which is often done at a time when there are few sale offers to prevent bleeding profits).
Why bother calling it F&F if it has nothing to do with the staff discount anyway?
@frigginawesomeimontv: Fair point i'd also love it if they did incorporate an extra 10-15% for staff on top F&F for staff whilst F&F got the original offer. However I think that F&F caters for the fact they open up the restrictions whereby we aren't allowed to purchase stuff for friends at staff discounts. So now we can allow our friends and family to join in on the extra discounts which previously they weren't entitled to. It gives the staff an extra perk for working there and Myer would still be making profits whilst doing it. Is it always going to be the BEST sale? Probably not (Still some good deals to be found though). I agree that some items have been on sale before without the friends and family discount, however, the purpose is to give people access to that discount again without having to wait for that ordinary sale :)
Sorry to keep harping on… But can you give me an example here which is a staff-exclusive "extra" discount that wouldn't normally be offered to the public??

Advice to myer marketing team. Put products that most people want on sale like Bose QC, apple products, toys, suits, furniture Etc. We all know you are struggling as a retailer. Put these on a decent sale, volume sales will make up for low prices. Most savvy customers are watching and will only buy when you have decent discounted goods.
Tbh, I think Myer is more targeted to women than men. I think womens clothing and the beauty departments are the most profitable and most popular, it's also what women look at first when they enter the store. Thinking about all the Myer and David Jones stores I've been to, cosmetics is always at the entrance of the main floor, followed by womens clothing.
The "find wonderful" campaign is aimed at young working professional women.
In the city DJs has a men's store, though it doesn't come with all those bright lights, it doesn't seem to feel as special.

you'll find this in pretty much every department store worldwide. it was a technique invented by Selfridges back when women going out shopping on their own wasn't yet a social norm. entrepreneurial bright spark that Harry Selfridge was, he made the whole department store shopping experience more appealing to women
Myer Home Brand vertical integration trash. These clothes will fall apart after a dozen washes in my experience. They pushed the Bangladeshi manufacturers too hard and the quality is non existent, just like share Price growth.
Of the couple of shirts I bought from their recent sales, two of them already lost few buttons, from the sleeves to the front of the shirt. I checked, and almost all the buttons are so lose you might think that either a novice tailor/machine operator, or someone who doesn't give a damn, did them. I fixed the first one with a needle and thread (luckily I had a thread of the same color), but the second one is still unfixed. You're right, the quality of their shirts are shite.
I would suggest you take it back. I bought a jacket during winter which looked very nice but only wore it 5 -7 casual Fridays max and it looked like shit. I took it Back and got my money back. If you don't have the receipt as long as you used your myerone card, check the app for transaction history. We need to send the message that enough of substandard goods.
I have returned a number of stuff that I bought my wife and were torn or colour faded after a few washes. Seriously
I quite like the color and fit of the shirts I bought from them, and I bought when they were really cheap a couple of months ago, so as long as it's buttons etc, I wouldn't mind to fix them and keep them. But if they were expensive, and/or had major defects, then I would definitely take them back and ask for a refund.

I had similar experience this morning too. Two items I wanted to buy, only was in stock in my closet store. I chose a faraway store to pick up the two items, and I already got the 'ready for pickup' email.

Pity the F&F offer does not include toys. I have occasionally found a sale price at Myer has beaten other stores. Not often though.
