        • Well, you've got 3 more attempts to make it happen :)

  • @thequickandthedead when do u get your prize? you won the tv, is that correct?

    • +1

A lady from Gumtree contacted me to arrange postage details and stated that she will contact me again with tracking information once it has been posted. I didn't ask for a specific date but she assured me it would be received before Christmas.

    • and it's marked as found, fingers crossed I made it in time!

I at least got to send a message this time.

      • Good luck!

      • Good luck! Of all the days I went out to lunch and it didn't go off…

  • me too .. guess we will see (no message received this end (not even already found one) although by your time stamp you might have got in before me anyway

    • Still no message for you either?

      • never got one

  • I think if you are the first to message it asks for your email address.iv lost all momentum to browse . Good luck everyone

    • I don't think it's an automated reply (could be wrong) but they do ask for full name, email address and phone number.

      • I just perused through facebook comments and looks like yesterday thats what happened with the ring.. she was asked to put in her email address but something malfunctioned. Pretty sure she won it. She got her message in at 6.33

        • +1

When I won on day one, I got an email/gumtree message asking for name email and phone number. It didn't seem to be an automated thing because shortly after I got another one correcting something in the first one about how long I had to reply with the info.

          @loulou1:

Oh nice congratulations by the way

  • The Hana-Kiko has been found. It popped up when I was making lunch :(

  • Still no message from them with either a yay or a nay, this is killing me lol

    • That sucks, might have been a close one?

      • Scrutiny of "non-genuine users" or whatever maybe

    • That sucks. Imagine if 2 messaged were sent through at the same time.

    • From the Facebook page;
Thanks for your message. When the ad is taken down to be changed over to the second chance draw message, the winner would be notified. If you haven't received a reply by that time, then you unfortunately haven't won. Best of luck with tomorrow's search! Kind regards - Julia

      • Just got off live chat with them and all they could tell me was I should have received an email if I got in before it was pulled.
I definitely was, I even had time to refresh the ad after I sent my message and it was still up. I wonder if whatever metric they use to determine genuine users disqualified me for some reason?
At this point in time I'm just going to assume I lost and try not to think about it.

        • How Gumtree processes messages is literally trash - your message will appear "sent" on your end but may not appear in Gumtree's inbox until several hours later.

  • Any ozb's playing today?

    • I'll try but have work at later…

      • hopefully it will show up b4 then!

        • Yeah the 6 hours of waiting is a bit painful. And I get nothing done for the day.

    • Not me, I have a PS3 so I'm happy with that. Couldn't afford to buy all my games again!

  • Leaving now… Good luck adski (and everyone else trying)!

    • Bloody work..lol

  • I maybe wrong, but I noticed this listing and the account says "gumtree user" instead of a name, which seems odd.. Could this be the listing they're going to update? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bendigo/playstation/darth-vad…

    • +1

      Nah doubt it

    • i think i was a bit slow to reply to that one :(

    • Was just about to post it

  • Now marked as found, good luck all!

  • Now back to real life and distractions while I wait hopefully for an email lol

    • What time did you send your message?

      • Timestamped 5:52

        • You beat me! I wasn't intending on going for it, but sat down and had a look, then hit refresh and went "oh there it is ………….OH THERE IT IS! HURRY!"

        • @compacc:
Yea I was planning on not bothering today but the lure of free stuff was too much haha, had only been at it for about 10-15 mins though and just picked the right time. I reckon I missed it though because I did kinda the same thing, had 2 different searches going in different tabs, hit refresh and then changed tabs as it popped up and I quickly switched back.

        • @compacc:
Checking my timestamp here though when I posted the link, it was actually more like 5:51:20

I literally give up on this promotion. I can never see the listing until it's marked as "found". I guess some of you are using tactics which I'm not aware of.

    • hi there, today i searched the good old fashioned way in gumtree, just searched playstation 4. refreshed the page until the numbers changed. when i noticed an extra one the ad was there and i clicked on it. i could have got a message away but as i already won the bike i cant win anyway so no point (also i doubt i would have been the quickest one anyway). there is no doubt some people with dubious tactics, but gumtree has said that they are disqualifying illegitimate entries (unsure of what their definition of that is).
I say keep trying, you never know your luck. At the very least, enter for a second chance shot at a Harley Davidson. Entry is free and costs nothing but a little bit of your time.

      • Did the listing appear on the first page of results? I was refreshing the first page of results for "playstation 4" but never saw it. It can be found on page 5 now so I'm assuming you searched through the pages of results.

        • I didn't realise but I was searching south Australia rather than Australia, so it was page one for me.

Surf's Up dude! Good luck to anyone entering today's comp.

    • Good luck!

      • +1

        Had 36 views when I messaged :/

        • Well it's coming up as "found" now so the winner must have been messaged. 36 isn't too bad, I think you'd be in with a chance with that :)

        • @compacc: ah missed out.. Good luck to ChronoSphinx :)

        • @garffi: Did you get a reply?

        • @compacc: Yeah it said I missed out and got a second entry for the Harley

  • Not reply yet…I didn't even notice how many views it had when I msged. But time was 11:30am.

    • 11:30am?

      • I'm in WA, 3 hours behind.

        • I got a message in @ 11:31am your time Chrono and got the "sorry you missed out" reply from Gumtree.

        • oh my bad. you might have a chance :)

        • @garffi: =) Thanks but it's been over an hour so I reckon I'm not the winner. Has everyone got a reply already?

Edit: Suspense is still killing me though.

        • @ChronoSphinx:
I'm still waiting on my replies from the last 2 days, don't hold your breath lol

Edit: Wonder if it has anything to do with email subscription settings on gumtree.

        • @MrtheMoonbear: Yeah. Perhaps… I was thinking maybe I was disqualified by using the auto refresh add-on? So maybe they thought I was a bot but other than that, I don't know why they didn't reply.

        • @ChronoSphinx: my husband didn't get a reply twice. He wasn't running any auto refresh stuff or scripts.

        • @ChronoSphinx: I would think, if they can detect it, auto refresh would rule you out. They would see that it is refreshing at a regular rate. I think normal refresh which is irregular would be OK. Only saying this because I won by using manual refresh.

        • @loulou1: Yeah I think so too. Oh well. If I were doing it manually, I would be refreshing all tabs as soon as it loaded or at least every 30 s. Just with auto refresh, I can do something else while watching the screen.

Good luck today everyone! It's the biggun!

    • +1

Even though I can't win, I hope it happens early so we can all get back to our lives ha hA

      • +3

        Amen to that

        Edit: So 7:59 then? lol

        • Haha. Hope they're reading this and some reverse psychology happens so we don't have to wait.

        • Does anyone have the item number for this one? lol

        • @edd91: TIP: There are MORE than 1 items listed for this prize.. so keep looking if you have only found 1 of the items ;)

        • @adski: Any more tips? lol, I can't even find one item the usual way :(

        • @adski: I'm confused, isn't it only the car today?

        • @ChronoSphinx: yes - 1 prize only.. but there are more than 1 ad where this prize could show up (gumtree has already done multiple ad's for this car prize to try to be tricky!)..

edit: the ps4 was the same - it had multiple ad's for it but only 1 ad was made the winning ad..

        • @adski: Ooh I see. Well, my googling skills need a brush up then. I don't understand why gumtree don't use tags so it doesn't show up on google search?

        • @ChronoSphinx: they do use different words as the outdoor setting was originally posted as an outdoor shed.. they have gotten smart now - if u think u have found the ad then more than likely u have not..

        • @adski:
Wonder how hard they are gonna curveball us today.
Maybe list it as a $50,000 ride on mower in the kids toys section?

        • @ChronoSphinx:

Gumtree actually doesn't stop googlebot from scanning ads (see their robots.txt file), however they do have 'noindex' attributes on each ad page as a default, but i suspect googlebot effectively ignores it because the robots.txt file doesn't explicitly disallow ad pages. I think that this means that ad pages can be cached by googlebot and that people are then using these (legitimate) caches to keyword search for the days prizes. Interesting!

  • +1

did you all notice that they wont ship today's prize to you?
The winner must collect the car from 1/63 Miller St, Pyrmont, Sydney, NSW 2009 or arrange freight at the winner’s own cost

    • +3

Yeah…hope that deters some people. I don't mind a road trip!

    • +1

I had not noticed that no.
Don't worry, if anyone can't pick it up I am more than happy to take it off their hands :P

    • I dont live very far at all .. i hope we dont have to wait all day.

  • +4

I hope it comes with a replacement F5 key.

  • 1 hour down, 7 to go.

    • +1

When at work I refresh this page more than gumtree :p

      • Yea I reckon I will miss the ad by being on ozb instead lol

  • +1

Top result of my search being from Cockburn Area, combined with my apparently juvenile sense of humour, is keeping my spirits up.

    • cant see the ad, says not available

    • +1

Good troll hey, wonder how many messages he got.

    • Lol did you notice it was a blue audi with the orange.

      • Sure did, but by the time my brain registered it as blue I had already clicked on it.

        • As soon i saw the ad i thought it was a joke. I clicked on it though jusy to make sure then it was deleted. Perhaps today we have a long wait.im excited for the Harley more than anything

        • @Tmax:
Win the Audi, sell the Audi, buy 2 Harleys :D

        • I like the way you think. Definitely not for me but if i won the harley would give it to my father. I can dream right these ads go up and down so fast. Did you end up winning the other day
