  • V10 or V6 turbo next?

  • +1

To anyone considering one of these, we just upgraded from the V6 and the V8 is a huge improvement in every way.
The V6 now lives in the Mancave :) .

    • Whitey can you tell me why the v8 is better than the v6? Also how old is your v6? I just googled and I read that alot of dysons die after 4 years :( my v6 has a costco guarantee so I can't decide whether to do the swap and get the v8 from GG! Thoughts appreciated!

      • There are lots of reviews and comparisons if you google them, pretty much everything the V6 does, the V8 does better.
My V6 is only about 18 months old and it's still working as good as the day I bought it.

        • Still awake reading the comparisons online. I think the biggest difference is that the v8 is easier to empty.. I keep having to stick my hand up the v6 which I hate doing.

        • @smittenkitten:
Yes, it is very cool how the whole motor lifts up and a seal wipes off all the gunk into the bin without you having to pull it out by hand, it holds more dust as well.
You shouldn't have to stick your hand up the V6, the whole vacuum canister comes off.

        • @whitey: I find the cannister annoying to put back and even when it's off I have to use my hand and wipe the dirt off the filter.

        • @smittenkitten:
Yes it is a hassle, and because it's not very big you have to do it often.
With the V8 you just pull up, push down then close the lid - too easy !!

  • 40min battery life is crazy! Thinking of upgrading from a DC59…

    • That's on normal mode with no power head.
I think it goes for about 25 minutes with a powerhead fitted and only about 8 minutes with a powerhead on Max mode.
Max mode is very powerful and I can do every room in my 3 bedroom house on a single charge on Max.
The beauty of these is you can just do a room or a couple of rooms at a time if you like because they are so easy to get out and put away.
The dust bin emptying is the best thing I like about it, so much easier than the V6 and you don't have to get dirty at all.

      • Is there a major difference between V8 Animal and Absolute? A clear advantage that has over the other (minus the price) for a single person, with no pets? Wanted to buy one of these two, and have watched a couple of review videos on YouTube, but I can't still decide which one to go for.

        • +1

Absolute comes with an extra head for hardfloor which you cannot buy separately. Besides that, same machine and tools.

        • @cortex21: Ta. Will go for the animal then.

        • @AussieDaddy:
If you have hard floors i'd go for the absolute.
It is awesome on floorboards, cork and tiles.
After using it on our cork floors it looks like the floor has been polished.
I did a comparison between the normal powerhead and soft roller cleaner head on the cork and soft roller killed it.
If you have no hard floors i'd just get the animal.

        • @whitey: Unfortunately, I have no idea what type of floor my apartment has, as I am renting and not an owner. It's not the traditional ceramic-like tiles, but it's white and in larger squares, and not as hard to the knock as other tiles. And it isn't wood or anything like that either. So I am not sure if it's worth to spend that extra cash on the Absolute. Also, I don't have rugs in most of the rooms, except a small one under my bed. My main issue is dust, as I suffer from allergies and hay-fever most of the year. The older, cheap one that I have now only worsens the dust in the air and makes me sneeze all day long when I use it. Since I have no kids and pets, and not carpets, I thought the V8 Animal might be the best option. Don't know. I have a day to reach final decision, so fingers crossed.

          @AussieDaddy:
Sounds like lino or vinyl tiles?
The soft roller head on the Absolute definitely picks up more dust than the standard head that comes with both the Animal and Absolute.
They both have Hepa filters so this should help your allergy problem.

        • @whitey: Yup, I've just Googled the pictures and very likely vinyl tiles. Thanks for the help, mate. Really appreciate the 411.

  • Ah so similar to the dc59/v6 then! Was thinking 40min is insane

    • Yeah but you have to remember that the powerheads are bigger and more powerful so you get the job done much faster.

  • Arhhhhhh just bought last week from myer full price as none of the 20% off codes ever had this model reduced or were sold out right away…spewing

    • Where did you buy it from?

      • +2

        Umm, i'm feeling psychic.
I reckon they bought it from Myer :) .

        • haha my bad misread it completely

    • Nicole since you bought it last week you should rely on Myers satisfaction guarantee and have it returned… Then buy yourself a nice bottle of wine with the money you saved.. Or a coffee machine or small appliance :p

  • Thanks. I have been waiting for this for long time.

  • For those who have the V8 Model, can anyone share their thoughts on how it compares to a corded version? Thinking about picking this up instead of a corded vacuum for a 2 bedder place (Mix of Carpet/Tiles)

  • +1

We have a Miele Cat + Dog which is a very good corded vacuum cleaner, but since getting the Dysons (V6 then V8) it hasn't been used. It's all about convenience with the Dysons. If you have a friend, family member or work mate who has one, ask them can you try it out on your place. While they're not for everyone, I haven't heard of anyone going back to a corded from a Dyson cordless.

  • Thanks for posting bought one for the wife! Tho not sure she be that impressed with this gift lol.

  • Go has a 30 day price guarantee right? In case sensitive it's cheaper around Xmas / boxing day?

  • Almost went to bed without cashing in on my purchase!! THANKS OP!!
