    Stereo only. No s/pdif or other means of 5.1 .
    (Unless you use 3 of them :-)

      What is the point of a driver pretending to be 7.1, but downmixing to stereo?
      Your OS can do that, can't it?

      I have a dongle that does optical-out, but it seems nobody makes them any more.

      BTW, using three of these to make an analog connection to a real 5.1 amp is quite easy on a Mac, if not necessarily a good idea.
